http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/sports/football/dave-george-miami-dolphins-must-beat-ny-jets-on-su/nSk87/ According to this article, the Dolphins must beat the Jets in order to continue this special season. Also, it could benefit them to a possible playoff spot this season. Do you agree with this article?
Anytime we beat the Jets is special. Kicking them when they are sub 500 is just as nice as a hard earned win against a good Jets team. There isn't a team I hate more than the jets, not in any sport. Any time a Jets fan cries an Angel gets it's wings.
Agreed. And as I say every season... If we're going to win any games, I hope it is at least against the Jets!
Jets colts titans and buffalo... didnt even realize.... these next 4 really are the must win games to get re-focused and on track. after that its SEA, NE, 49ers... ETC. No more gimmes at that point, really. hopefully these next 4 games show the same progression we have been seeing.....that way we show up when we play some mid to top tier caliber teams.
The title of the article said that, but that wasn't really what the article was about. It seemed to me that the article was mostly about how the schedule going forward is generally favorable and we seem to be well set up to take advantage of it. As for the statement, I wouldn't say "mandatory". It's important b/c it's a division game and to maintain momentum, but the league and division records are so even that any one loss isn't crippling. Also, outside of Houston, no AFC team looks all that great (ie. incapable of losing to anybody and everybody else).
Be on the lookout for DolfansNYC, the New York Dolphins fan club. They sold 200 tickets, in the upper deck, but hopefully they get on TV. And hopefully they're nice and loud with the other Fins fans. They said they're in sections 322 and 323, in case any of you are thinking about going (there's tickets still on Ticketmaster & StubHub of course), you can be surrounded by Dolphins fans in that area.
Can someone PLEASE post that video of the "Lets Go Dolphins Chant" at the Meadowlands. That was a thing of beauty.
I think a win against the Jets is mandatory for people to have a legitimate feeling that the season is special right now, because the team hasn't yet accomplished enough for that so far. However, for the season to be special in the end, a whole lot more will have to happen.
We've had our losses that should have been wins. Now it's time to get some wins, even if we're playing tough opponents and we're only good enough that all our opponents are tough. While I think we can beat the jests, it's certainly no shoe-in that we will. This team simply isn't good enough to not play it's best and win games...It has to play well. We have a lot of things going for us right now. We're playing reasonably well, we are relatively healthy, the work this staff has put out is showing, but it has to continue. This game could go a long way in how the nat'l media looks at us, but it's not a win or else situation. It's even tougher because this is a division opponent... While it's important that we win and it has implications for later in the season, it won't make or break our season... Personally, if were any better than 6-10, this season is a success. The one thing that is important is that this team continue to learn how to win against tough opponents...This is a step, but it's not the last step...
One week at a time, but the next two weeks could be huge in the Fins favor if they can make it happen. Of course, the wins matter the most, but also add the fact that the Jets next two weeks are the BYE and a trip to Seattle, one of the hardest parks in the league for a visitor. Buffalo travels to New England and Houston for their next two games. If the Fins can win at New York Sunday and at least one of the following two @IND and at home against the Titans, and they'll at a minimum have a clear edge over Buffalo and New York for second place in the East. Thats a Hell of a lot better than most national observers gave them the chance for before the season. Beyond that, they'll be very well set up for a run at a wild card spot and will control their own future with seven weeks to play. A good feeling. Sparano coached teams blew it in that scenerio in 2009 and 2010, but we'll see how Philbin handles things.
Beating the Jets is always special, especially in their house. The fans around here and basically saying this game is their season. If they lose they might as well forget about the playoffs. I want to punch them in the gut so badly Sunday.
Didn't think about that but its mostly true. They'd lose their tiebreaker that they currently have to Miami and would pretty much have to beat the Patriots next time around. And the Jets would only be able to lose 2 more games since they'd be 3-5 if they lose (though 8-8 is certainly possible for an AFC wild card, but not likely). Would be a huge win for the Dolphins, definitely the biggest MIA-NYJ game since the 2008 season finale.
