AH! Jets week again... How I love to fantasize about the Dolphins blowing out this bitter rival.

Firstly, this is something never mentioned. How about the fact that Tannehill doesn't even wear a QB wristband? He obviously knows the playbook well enough to not even stumble over the name of the play, and has it memorized to that level. I don't care if it is the same offense or not, to have that type of confidence is awesome! How many QB's don't wear them?

Hartline HAS to step up this week, and not disappear as he did against the Rams, Texans and playing the Jets Cromartie. He has struggled against good coverage, and if he wants to be the big playmaker, that can't happen.

Utilize Fasano, Clay, JTrain, and Reggie up the middle of the field! Sherman needs to press the middle of the field in the passing game, up the seam. If Clay has anymore drops, just sit him. How do they fix the run blocking?

Hopefully Gaffney plays this week, and why hasn't there been as much as a mention of Armstrong? If either of these guys can contribute, it would be a shot in the arm! Hopefully Moore continues to contribute as well. If RT can spread the ball around he will be successful.

The D has got to tighten up! That outting against the Rams was EMBARRASSING. Sean Smith looked out of position for much of the game, the run-stuffers were manhandled, and coverage in general was pretty atrocious after looking so good against the Bengals. If they can't stop Shonn Greene first, Sparano will have a field-day. No Holmes... in roles Dustin Keller. Gotta shut down the TE, and tighten up against the screens. Wake needs to beat double-teams like JT if he wants to get to that next level. Vernon, Starks, and Odrick need to step up as well.

All of this being said, this team has proved that despite the yardage they may surrender, this team will get a victory if they win the turnover battle.

I'm more interested to see how Tannehill plays against a team for the second time. It's been discussed extensively that he is very good at reviewing film and not making the same mistake twice. I want to see how that to relates to pertains to seeing a team again. I'm hoping he has a big game against the Jets.

I don't think Hartline played poorly last week. I think his disappearance from the stat sheet had more to do with bad luck and timing of play calls. I thought he was open about as often as he was on previous weeks. They just didn't target him much. I know he was part of the game plan going in, but as often happens the game plan that plays out is different.

I agree about the need for a seam threat. Sherman's comments make me think that we'll see Clay targeted a bunch this week. I also think that we'll finally see Gaffney in there.

I agree. Hartline got open at about the same rate as usual, Tannehill just wasn't looking for him.

AJ Green this past week too (1 catch for 8 yards). Larry Fitzgerald in Week 2 (1 catch for 4 yards).

Okay, your point is made. On with the thread... This wasn't a Hartline thread anyway. I hope he has 20 catches for 500 yards and 30 TD's this week!

Those guys don't disappear, they're usually game planned against and they tend to open up the field for other players.

Then the same can be said about Hartline.

Not necessarily. Hartline doesn't draw double teams or bracket coverage the way those guys do, and he doesn't put up big numbers when he gets heavy doses of single coverage. He's not a red zone threat. IMO Reggie bush is the only guy we have who receives extra attention from opposing defenses.

Well said... but once again, not a Hartline thread! I'd like to hear some game thoughts. I saw that all the love in that article on FOX Sports was right in line with my prediction. My hope is that the Dolphins step up after this bye-week, and keep winning!

    Canada EH!
As our lack of running game has shown. Teams are selling out to stop the running game, since we still are not amazing passing.

Thats the key to the game IMO. The jets are a man to man team that's been playing more zone since Revis went out. Will they trust their corners to play man and focus on stopping the run or go with the more conservative approach?

If they go aggressive, Tanne has shown he's not bothered much by the blitz, he's statistically better against pressure actually. If the Jets are passive Tanne will have all day in the pocket bc NY can't get any pressure w/o sending extra guys.

My guess is NY will try and thread the needle, using safeties and pressure in running situations and sitting back on passing downs. Sherman will need to mix up his play calls to keep the D off balance and avoid long yardage situations.

Defensively we match up well. The Jets rely on running and play action but they won't be able to move our front 7 consistently. Sanchez will have to carry the offense for the most part. I can't see him doing enough to beat us, unless we turn it over, allow big plays, or have break downs on special teams.

I see a close game, as usual. The team who limits their mistakes will win it.

Anybody who plays fantasy football knows that +90% of WRs disappear from the stat sheet several times a season.

I feel pretty good about this game. I think we have a slight talent edge and most of the intangibles are heavily in our favor. I'm hesitant to predict a blow out in any division game, but I'm seeing a tight first half with Miami pulling away in the third.

That's not really true. When a receiver catches only 1-2 passes, he has pretty much disappeared. When Chicago held CJ to 34 yards, they also held the Lions to just 7 points on a very late and virtually meaningless TD. When AJ Green was held to 1 catch for 8 yards, the offense was held to under 200 total yards. When Fitzgerald was held to 1 catch for 4 yards the Cards' passing game was held to just 140 yards. Things weren't opened up very much at all for other players.

Nah, Hulk that's not what you want to hope for, you want to hope for 30 tds for the rest of the season...if that happens, other good things happen too...seriously...

I'm still not on board that this win is guaranteed...I think we should beat them, given that they are not playing well, but the weather is going to be crappy and our run game is not as consistent as it needs to be for us to beat teams we should. The jests are a team that we still need to play our best in order to beat them, even tho they are as good as many predicted. They are built to beat us, even with the new staff and schemes.

Rex has done a masterful job of getting the media off of his team with the Bush/Revis/Landry thing. Is Bush thinking about that?? I think so, I think it's real to him although I didn't see the hit of him getting injured was deliberately made to hurt him...the fact is that he seems to think that though?? More importantly, the jests are not catching grief from their local media now, given how poorly they've played.

Is this the week that everyone has been holding their breaths about for the use of Tebow in a WC formation?? That's my one worry, that Sparano/Ryan have a plan to unleash Tebow in a WC type formation that throws off our D...Sparano, for all his faults as a HC, put some pretty good game plans together at times... All the talk all offseason long was how the jests could use Tebow in a WC formation with his ability to be both a tough and instinctive runner and his ability to throw the ball (unlike most of the current or even recent past WC teams)... We haven't seen it yet, but is this the week? Actually I thought it was going to be last week against the pasties, but who knows...

I'm not one to predict scores, but how Philbin does this week, with extra prep time and some health coming back, could be pretty instrumental in determining how this team does going forward for this season...we're on an up ride with two victories, but both were against teams we should have won against...this is another step in the maturation of this team...here's to this game being a solid step forward...
