I love the fact that the Dolphins players haven't given them any ammo back. I hope it stays that way until the game.

Shows that Philbin has strong influence if no one breaks rank.

I do hope for some unfortunate things to befall the idiot Jet players though.

There's one thing about this team that I'm confident in, your not going to out tough us or intimidate us on a football field..if you want to challenge that, bring it on, I'm sure it will bring out the best in us.

    Just use this visual..

Stand up these boys next to each other..Paul..Randy..Cam..Karlos..Kevin..Jared..Koa..

Go ahead and challenge these grown *** men....

Exactly, the best way to handle this is ignore it and just, as a team, stomp mudhole's in these idiots' asses.

Besides, our coach has the fortitude to keep from crying on camera when he thinks about his recently dead kid, Rex on the other hand, cries when we beat his ***...that sloppy, slobbering, foot licking, ***** ****

It's annoying if you're the team playing them. However it's a smart move by Rex Ryan and the Jets, regardless of how tasteless you think it is.

They just came off a heartbreaking overtime loss where they were 11 point underdogs against a division rival and they very nearly took them down. Every team would suffer a hangover after a game like that. You're physically and emotionally spent after a game like that.

But talking trash is a way of getting the juices flowing again, even if you're the one doing it. No player ever, ever, ever likes to be thought of as the guy that says sh~t and then doesn't back it up. When you see Karlos Dansby talking about being the best linebacker in football, that's what he's doing. He's forcing more pressure on himself to back it up. By talking, the Jets are re-inserting emotion back into a situation where they might otherwise be void of emotions (spent).

Reggie Bush inadvertently, understandably, but stupidly, gave the Jets fodder to this end after the first game where he was upset at perceived cheap shots and a perceived intent to injure him, and so he said that Darrelle Revis' ACL tear was well-deserved karma. That in my opinion gives the Jets the opportunity to get their backs up for this game a lot more than they otherwise would have.

If it wasn't for draft hype and trash talk, no one would know who these clowns are. Calvin Pace, Aaron Maybin, Laron Landry LMAO.
Without the Jets these guys wouldn't have a platform to be jackasses on. They are right where they belong.

The New York Jets...... an NFL mega- draft bust-powerhouse ! An entire team of under-acheivers...... save Revis, Harris, Mangold, Pouha, Kerley, and yes... Yeremiah Bell.

I think this has more to do about trying to get into Reggie's head then anything. Reggie clearly hasn't run the same since the injury. He runs a lot less tough which leads to little to no success. They are trying to get him thinking that way so he runs a little tentative.

I see it as the opposite but with the same common goal on their part. I think they want Reggie to run harder so the chances of him injuring himself during the game are greater. Reggie will be extra motivated, that is just how he is. He's been trying to prove people wrong since he came in the league.

It also shows you how players tend to behave when the team culture is shaped by a loose cannon at head coach (Ryan) versus a professional (Philbin).

If they were an underdog at home I would agree with this approach, but they're favored.

It's a mistake IMO. Never give the underdog bulletin board material.

And that's in general. More specifically, as this pertains to this particular game, it stands to arouse and motivate the one part of the team that was once dominant but has been struggling of late: the offensive line and the running game.

    Big mistake IMO.

Favored by less than 3 points with the arrow moving down doesn't affect a locker room. I think home teams take notice when they're the underdogs no matter by how much, but away teams don't take notice of that stuff when they're small point underdogs in someone else's house. They always know the home team has the advantage and their mentality is to go into their house and steal one from them. I doubt the Dolphins feel like disrespected underdogs. They're coming off a bye week well rested and ready to kick some butt.

The Jets just suffered what could have been a devastating blow mentally by losing in overtime to a team they were 11 point underdogs to. They put a LOT into that game to come up short. It's the primary advantage the Dolphins have over them, otherwise the teams are matched pretty evenly. Anything the Jets can do to re-insert emotion back into this game will only help them. The Dolphins were already coming with motivation because they're coming off the bye week and anxious to get back on the field, and the Jets beat them the first time around so they're looking for revenge. This extra motivation stuff doesn't move the needle for the Dolphins but it does move the needle for the Jets.

Although the way the banter is going back and forth I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Dolphins, not the Jets, getting stupid penalties.

Bountygate is far different because the players were being paid to injure certain players on the opposing teams. Trash talking in regards to wanting to take a player out of the game has been going on forever.

I am sure the Dolphin players are happy that Revis won't be in the Jets lineup this week. Just as I am sure they were happy to see him exit the game when the two teams played a few weeks ago.

I don't think NFL players actually want to end another players career with a hit, or even end their season. I do think though that the opposing team is always happy to see the better players on the other team, sitting on the bench with a minor injury, instead of having this player beating them on the field.

The players for the Jets just like to mouth off before the games. I am sure the Dolphin players just laugh at all the foolishness that comes out of these Jets mouths.

I think anytime you're the underdog in a game, no matter by how much, it inspires a unification of the players to overcome the perception that the other team is better and will win. Essentially it's not only the "us against them" unification that's present in any game in a team sport, but also the "us against everyone who's doubting us" unification, as well. There is lots of strength in that unity.

Now, add to that the unification of players inspired by one team's saying publicly they want to knock a popular, high-effort player (Bush) out of the game, in a sport in which players feel very strongly about the protection of their physical health.

IMO you don't do anything that will serve to band the opposing team together any more than it already is. This will definitely move the needle, as you put it, for the Dolphins IMO.

We lost two game in overtime, but I don't remember our players talking trash or promising to injure players from the opposite teams, personally all this B.S. is on Rex that he doesn't have the ability to keep the team together and instead to allow all this crap, he should prepare the team to play in the best way possible without allowing all this to happen... bet you that Rex is behind all this, I lost respect for him and I hope that his wife develop a Toe Fungus..there!

Talking trash helps - and has helped the Jets - but its a crutch that can quickly backfire. If you start stringing losses together after talking trash, everyone will turn on each other.

Imagine if they lose this game. Who are the players blaming for the loss? Certainly not themselves, after putting everything out there like they have.
