Hey if you give it, you gotta take it. At least all three of us are always here to give it and take it too. You got to respect that.

Make it 9:45am, so I can swing by and pick up Raul and Russell.

their pitching was pretty on point all year I have to say...so much for age, and pedigree I guess......

but dude when all they were doing was hitting home runs and their BARISP was so bad, especially for the first few months, I knew they were cooked.....like by the end of May....

Right but it was kind of hard to predict Cano would go what 3 for 40 I think it was in the playoffs or Arod wouldn't start every game in the playoffs or Jeter would get hurt etc.

The offense was downright pathetic after being one of the best in the regular season.

But look at Cano's career postseason numbers, I think right now like Swisher you have to say this IS who this guy is until they prove differently. Good regular season numbers but they shrink in the big time....again the number clearly show it....

so to me how do you pay a guy like Cano all that money when in reality he doesn't hit when you need him most?

Nah I'd rather have Lackey, shockingly the last and only bad contract the Sox actually have right now.

The Yankees are a franchise that is being run into the ground. Cashman is nothing but a "YES" man and the Steinbrenners couldnt give four flying squirrels about anything but money. None of them have the passion that George had about the team. All this public humiliation of A-rod is ridiculous, especially when your paying Swisher the money your paying him and he does just enough to get by during the season and gets lost in the post season. I like Alex, i even feel bad for him, he is being mistreated. Even if he did ask for some girls digits, who cares, that happens at every level of the game on almost every given night. I, myself, as an athletic trainer who worked in minor league ball have run phone numbers of players from the dugout to girls in the stands and even secretly to one lucky young man. I cant wait to see granderson and swisher wearing someone else's uniform.

My hopes for the off season are: the yankees re-sign Ichiro, Ibanez, keep Nunez as our left fielder and Jayson Nix as our journeyman in the field. I hope dickerson comes around, he can really add some speed off the bench. Hopefully Pettitte makes a decision sooner rather than later and i wouldn't mind seeing Kuroda back. I want no part of Hamilton, i wouldnt mind stealing Delmon Young, just so he doesnt kill us again. Maybe a look at angel pagan. The yankees need to re-evaluate the catcher postion, I really dont see any other options than Martin and that freaks me out.(how many years before we can get Buster?) Can we trade Phil or Nova?

Yeah this isn't surprising that he wasn't pitching at 100%, there were a lot of reports from scouts saying that this summer.

Looks like Michael Pineda might be the only player ever that isn't "ahead of schedule" for rehabing a surgery. According to Cashman he's healing slower than expected and won't be ready for the start of ST. Cashman said the Yankees are looking at a June/Julyish return.

Perhaps it's simply an error in the article, unless I'm missing someone, but why would Gardner be a backup if they resigned Ichiro?

maybe they are thinking of somebody else in right.....

Personally I sign Ichiro quickly even for 8M too.....1 year deals are harmless, and he might be their best hitter behind Jeter in terms of putting the ball actually IN play...

Oh I agree, there's no such thing as a bad 1 year deal. It would give the Yankees more speed and a much better defensive OF. No real harm at all as long as people don't expect him to bat .322/.340/.454 again.

Thats slash line is unrealistic agreed but for him to be at .285-.300 isn't unreasonable to think...the guy just knows how to hit...he got so many rinky dink hits, in say 2 strikes counts where he just adjusted to the pitch and punched it somewhere...

How about Barry Zito huh? Gotta give him credit and hey maybe it is because he is in the NL, but that guy is worth every penny because of what he does in the playoffs...he outperforms the guys who are getting paid more than him...

Just goes to show you baseball is just so unpredictable from game to game. However you're basing Zito's awful contract, and let's be real here he's been a major bust in every aspect, on 3 games is silly. He's fortunate to even be on the roster this year and the ONLY reason why he's even starting playoff games for the Giants is because of how bad Lincecum was this year. Zito didn't even make the playoff roster in 2010. So while yes it's a nice story let's not be too quick to go overboard. Again it's only 3 games, just 16 innings, and one of those games he didn't make it out of the 3rd inning.

If you date it to the AL as well, his numbers in the playoffs are very very respectable.....of someone whom you think would be getting paid 18M a year....

yes I agree the contract overall doesnt make sense...

If Rivera doesn't come back and the last image of him is being carried off the field in KC even as a non-Yankee fan it would be extremely disappointing and depressing.

The ending of an ERA for Yankee fans. While i want Pettite to come back it would seem right if he retired ( for real this time ) when Mo does.

The ONLY benefit is that the Yanks dont have to spend another 15M on him I guess...

I know the Yankees want to lower their payroll to under what 189 million by 2014? But spending 15 million on Rivera for a 1 year deal wouldn't affect that at all nor would it really stop them from signing Ichiro for 8 million for example. It's the multi-year deals that will hurt them.

15 Million to Rehab an injury, Damn I would love to sign up for that. That is where a guaranteed contract is good for the player and good for the team because insurance pays his salary.

And if either or both have decent years fans will want them back. I really dont want to go through another Williams or Posada fiasco aka them crying about money err sorry respect.
