What would be better? Trading the pick(s) that would be needed to make a trade or keeping that pick to maybe trade up in the first or maybe the second round to get a premium player. I think I would rather keep those picks to give us the flexibility to move up somewhere without giving up part of our draft if the opportunity presents itself. I like that flexibility while still having plenty of draft picks.

There are arguments for both but I know what Ireland would do. He would keep the pick and move around the draft to get a player he targets. That's been his MO since the beginning. I would be shocked if he trades for a player this week.

The only player I would make a trade for is D. Bowe honestly. Otherwise stand pat.

I am thinking along these lines as well. Unless it's a total steal for us, screw it. Let's sit on our picks and see what happens with them down the line.

The question is will Arizona go after Moore, that team is playing like crap but still is in first place...he would instantly upgrade that team...whats it worth to ya?

I wouldn't trade for any player. Unless it is a defensive lineman or special teams player.

The other positions just need to know the scheme way too much.

Jared Cook has requested a trade. I'd go get him for a 4th. 6'5" 248 and ran a 4.49 at the combine. Averaged 15.5 yards per catch on 49 catches last year. Averaging 13.3 yards per catch on 28 catches so far this year. There's your seam threat. 25 years old.

My prediction is the Dolphins will stand pat and wait until the 2013 draft and free agency to upgrade their roster. I would be totally surprised if they make a trade before the deadline.

Solid situational pass rusher on a deep Eagles DE position, probably land him for a 7th rd pick.

That allows us to kick Odie inside.

Do you know how many years on his contract still? I think he would be great to add into the mix of pass rushers. Makes Tony Mcdanial or Randall expendable.

I see Hunt is on the Eagles' injury list this week, questionable with a calf injury. He's in the second of a three year contract... that is real low $ wise.

I'll take a (DE's : Cam Wake, Phil Hunt, Olivier Vernon, Derrick Shelby) (DT's : Paul Soliai, Randy Starks, Jared Odrick, Tony McDaniel/Kheston Randall) defensive line rotation for the next 9 games.

Shelby has been a bit of a disappointment lately. Seems to have hit the rookie wall.

I wouldn't trade away picks unless it WAS for a WR. And even then I'd be iffy. Sure it takes a WR a little time to learn the playbook and become acclimated, but the better receivers typically step in fairly quickly because they are just that good and smart enough to grasp the playbook quickly.

Having said that, I seriously doubt Miami makes any trades. I feel like the FO is satisfied with what we have at this point and will go into the off season and continue to build through the draft. I'm thinking WR or secondary help in the first round, then the other in round two.

Jags WR Mike Thomas has apparently been traded to the Detroit Lions (is Matt Millen back in charge?)... per PFT. I guess if we wanted a second Davone Bess, we would have sniffed.

I think Bess is having his best year..so valuable to our team..and not expendable imo..his short area quickness and catch radius is excellent.

huh? I'm not quite clear what you're trying to say here.
Are you talking about starting Hunt or using him as a situational pass rusher in nickel?

Either way I don't understand it b/c for one, Vernon already kicks Odrick inside during nickel IIRC.... and secondly, I don't understand this baseless obsession with trying to kick Odrick inside in our base defense as if he's some kind of liability causing our defense, namely the dline, to not perform very well. We currently rank 6th in sacks, #1 against the run, and have allowed 12 points/game the past 3 games.

Can always use more pass rush, just like you can always use more money.

I agree with that, but that's not what it seemed Padre was alluding to, as well as others who apparently share a mentality that our defense is hindered the way it currently sits b/c Odrick is at DE in our base D.

Odrick is a plus at end because he forces teams to run the right side. If you know the other team is running to that side you will very likely stop them. If the run game is stopped, the other team becomes predictable. If we're replacing Odrick at end I hope it's with a guy that is an absolute monster against the run.

    Here and there
This stopped being funny years ago. Burleson broke his leg and the Lions need WR depth..Thomas was burried on the Jags depth chart and was a 4th round pick, i'd be surprised if they gave up a 6th for him.

I agree the Dolphins need another pass rushing DE to replace Odrick. I just don't see Odrick moving inside, because Soliai, Starks, and McDaniels are all better than Odrick and they already play inside. Perhaps the Dolphins can trade Odrick to another team for a legitimate pass rushing DE.

    Since we're talking about DL.

    Had 6.5 sacks last year.

Tell that to Lions' fans who are complaining about needs not being filled elsewhere. I thought Broyles could be a pretty good #3 as well.

Me either. What the heck's up with that? He's a good rotation body if he's healthy. Plus he's played for Coyle.
