I almost feel like we're not watching the same player. Explosiveness is Walter Stewart's best quality.

On this guy at least we agree. But I never said he was more than a role player that would take a good amount of snaps. He could start but he's not your ideal pass rusher. Still, he's a very violent player and that translates.

I think you're underselling the pass rush potentials of Dion Jordan, Walter Stewart, Quanterus Smith, Cornellius Carridine, Jarvis Jones, Barkevious Mingo and Morgan Breslin.

I haven't caught up with Michael Buchanon in 2012 but I can say from watching a couple of his games in 2011, I was highly unimpressed. Doesn't mean he'll be bad, just he's not up my alley I guess.

    Well away from here
Has the length, burst etc. my concern is can he add size, especially in his lower body. He's raw as hell, but he has that knack for keeping blockers off of him. He's always disengaging to make a play.

From my vantage he's receiving a ton of attention. I can't go two days on twitter without hearing about him, I see people talking about him in message boards, I see media people talking about him, nick names ("DaMonster" Moore, etc).

Everyone's so fascinated with Dion Jordan. I am not and maybe I'm wrong but I am not fascinated.

    More than likely.

Did you like the question I threw out about him? Everyone was drooling on his jock, so I had to pose it just to throw a wrench.

I've seen a little bit of Damontre Moore. Maybe alen, CK, or Boomer can shed more light on him. But, watching him I thought he was sort of a "Plain Jane" type of guy, then he'll make a "Wow" play.

Struck me sort of similar to Jackson Jeffcoat of Texas. I think they both get sacks due to other players doing the dirty work. I don't think Moore is as good as Von Miller, far from it, but I think there are some things to work with.

To me, it looks like he needs to bulk up, especially improving his lower body strength; I don't think his balance is that good and he's had trouble holding the point against the run. I don't see him use many moves in his pass-rush (at least in what I've seen of him). I thought he overran some plays and/or targets his rush point, and sometimes that bites him. For instance, several times in the Florida game, he's starting to turn the corner and Driskel steps up - there's no counter move, no inside move, he just runs up the field by him. But then, as I said, he'll make a "Wow" play, and you wonder where the consistency is.

He's a guy I'd take if I'm doubling down at a DE/OLB position in the draft. Hypothetically, if I were Jeff Ireland, I'd want to get more of a finished product first and then go after Moore as a developmental type of guy. Give me Alex Okafor before Damontre Moore for example.

I think that Ryne Giddins from USF might be worth a look. Not sure that he comes out this year, he's a redshirt Junior. Ezekiel Ansah from BYU seems to be worth a look as well, a lot of length and natural athletic ability and he's even newer to football than Werner.

It's tough to see a lot of film from players from these schools, but from what little I've seen and what I've been able to read these guys will be on my radar. Giddins strikes me as tough as nails and a very good motor, very active, kind of an Olivier Vernon type but with better pass rush skills. Ansah seems to be a long, freakishly good athlete with a huge upside. I'm looking forward to seeing more film on both players, especially Ansah.

Personally, I initially thought of Chandler Jones but I can definitely see some JPP in his ability. It wouldn't surprise me if this kid became the best DE of this draft class when it's all said and done. As of this moment I'd take him with our 1st round pick. Looks to possess that "man among boys" potential.

He ran a 10.9 100 meter dash. That's impressive, especially for a man of his size. He seems to have good functional strength as well, but as I said before I haven't seen much film of him. From what I have seen he looks outstanding in sideline to sideline pursuit. He also seems to do a heck of a job at getting his hands up with that long frame of his and trying to bat down passes at the LOS, very aware and good timing. JJ Watt has shown how valuable that can be. Maybe there's a BYU fan on the site who can give a good breakdown of Ansah.

ps I watched some of BYU/Idaho last night. Here's what I saw of Ansah and posted in another thread:

BYU/Idaho is on ESPN now- Idaho getting waxed. But I do get a chance to see more of Ansah. For all the praise that he's been getting of late, what I don't see is a particularly high level of explosiveness. As an example, Aldon Smith- I saw his 1st step as a Mizzou DE and thought "wow." Ansah's 1st step doesn't get a wow from me. Smith is close to the same size as Ansah, maybe 2 inches shorter and 10 lbs. less. Smith was converted by SF to OLB. Could Ansah do the same? My guess is no, although if I recall correctly BYU has had him practice at DE and OLB. Not that it really matters, at 6-6, 270 I'm looking at Ansah strictly as a DE.

Ansah is fast, is really good at lateral pursuit, gets those long arms up to knock down passes and shows some pass rushing ability. But does he look like a great pass rusher? Not yet imo. He's definitely intriguing, and he makes for a great story with his international background, size and speed. On top of the sub 11 second 100 meter dash, apparently he can dunk a basketball with his elbows above the rim. I like this guy, I would draft him, but I would prefer to see some more suddenness, explosion out of him.
It will be interesting to see how Ansah progresses in the NFL- you can see the potential, but he'll have to step it up to be effectvie against NFL caliber OTs.

That being said, I could easily see Ansah developing into a solid DE and a good pass rusher with a penchant for batting down passes, and he's one of the better DEs that I've seen in lateral pursuit, tremendous range and hustle in tracking down ball carriers and making those kind of plays.
