I thought I'd share with you all the cool event that I got to see today. As some of you may be aware the Red Bull Racing World Series had a race here over the Detroit River with a route that criss crossed back and forth between Windsor(Canada) and the Detroit(USA).

For those who dont know what im talking about, these pilots, fly planes, at low levels above ground/water, flying through a race course made of inflatable pylons and gates. Some gates they have to fly level though, and some they have to fly sideways though at a perfect 90 degree angle. Also they have to fly through the gates at certain heights marked on the pylons by lines. Also, at one end of the course is a sharp turn to make in order to circle back around to run the course backwards, and at the other they do what is called a half cuban eight, which basically means that from level flight, they pull up and start to do a loop, once upside down and starting to drop back to the course they flip around right side up and back to level flight through the course again. Keep in mind the planes are flying about 15 meters over the water, all at speeds of 230mph!!!!!!! Its incredible to see, it really is.

The day was awesome, perfect weather. Started off with some crazy skydiving stuff, some old classic planes (sorry not much of a classic plane person, so i dont know the names). Then the brought out this old World War 2 fighter, to fly around with the awesome F18. They made a few passes over the river together, then the F18 took over, showing off, flying by, full afterburners... ohhh god, the speed, the sound. just incredible!!!

Anyways, youre probably all bored, if youve even read this far... But then came the races, which were crazy exciting!!! just one plane after another at crazy high speeds!!! Anyways, in the end, the event was won by American pilot Kirby Chambliss, by 0.15 seconds!!!

If anyone of you ever get a chance to see one of these events, even if you dont think you would be into it, go and check it out, its well worth it!! All in all today, they say over 750,000 people on both sides of the river, from both countries saw some amazing people, do some amazing things!!!

For more info on the races... see http://www.redbullairrace.com/

Some of my pictures from the day are below... as well as a video that i took of a plane doing a lap around the course (if it works). Sorry for the poor camera work!!! Hope you enjoy! I sure did!!

That looks awsome. I am jealous. I saw the advertising for it on TV but it's no where near where I live.
