NFLN is replaying one of the greatest games in Miami Dolphins history tomorrow night at 8:00pm. The famous fake spike game, November 27th 1994 in its entirety. In 1994, the Jets found themselves one game back of the Dolphins for the AFC East division lead heading into their November 27 match at the Meadowlands. In a game with first place on the line, the Jets held a 24-6 lead, outplaying the Dolphins for three quarters. However, Dan Marino led the Dolphins back with two touchdowns, cutting the score to 24-21. Marino got the ball one last time and drove the Dolphins down the field to within the Jets' five-yard line. With thirty seconds remaining, and the clock continuing to wind down, it appeared Marino was going to spike the ball to stop the clock and send out the field goal unit to tie the game. Instead, Marino took the snap from center, and after motioning as if he would spike the ball, fired the ball in the corner of the end zone pastAaron Glenn and into the hands of Mark Ingram. It was Ingram's fourth touchdown catch of the game, which tied a club record with former Dolphins wide receiver Paul Warfield. The touchdown gave the Dolphins a 28-24 victory, and Miami went on to win the division. The Jets went into a spiral after that play, losing all of their remaining games. Indeed, the game marked the beginning of a period of ignominy for the Jets as they compiled a record of 4-33 from that game to the end of the 1996 season.
Already have it set on DVR, but I might watch it live. I'm going to make my girlfriend watch it with me. She doesn't really understand why I am such a Dan Marino fan and if she watches this game, maybe it will help her figure it out.
I know, no one hates it any more than me.. but until we take the broom away, we have no legs to stand upon...
Well then your either 2 years old or 80 (or just have a bad memory) because I am not even 30 yet and I remember quite well thrashing you guys up and down the football field....VIVIDLY.
thats a big thing to admit... This guy I know from back home is a Jets fan too. He was bustin my **** that Miami was going to be picking 1st in the 2009 draft, I told him only after we trade up with the Jets
The "other" game was a great game to be at and I'm glad my friend forced me to stay. To this day I never leave until the clock reads 0:00 and there is a winner.... or if we're down by 20 at the 2 minute warning.
Exactly. I have the same policy. I MIGHT start walking down the isle if the clock is running out and someone just took a knee with 10 seconds left, but other than that I stay. I just figure, I paid for these tickets, for the full time and the memory. Sometimes the memory is miserable (lots of times) but sometimes the memory is the best in the world (Green Bay into the Playoffs, Monday Night Miracle in Meadowlands). Either way, I am staying. Oh, and a few more minutes to sober up! BZ
Of course, granted we've been in a dry spell lately. But I figure its due after we were in throughout most of the 90's (7 out of 10 years I believe) and so on and so forth as you go back like the Superbowls etc.....So a few times in the 00's and then the dry spell...I figure its over due.
OH OK...LOL I thought he was trolling.... ......must be the middle of the offseason and I am getting real antsy for some football...seeing a Jets fan razzing it up in here makes me glad training camp is almost here and I can go out and watch the boys take the field again.
I am trolling, but I am a nice cuddly Troll who has been posting oh FH since September 2004 and is known by more than a few posters here. BZ
I didnt know this about our WR savior of this game I posted this on finheaven and thought id post it here too... I dont know if any of you guys know this about Ingram, but I didnt know how big of a DB he is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Ingram Ingram retired after the 1996 season and has been in trouble with the law ever since. In July 2001, Ingram was sentenced in a Miami federal court to six months in prison after getting caught with $3,290 in counterfeit cash during a police sting targeting a stolen vehicle. Ingram was sentenced to a year in jail in October 2004 after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor for stealing a credit card from Davison, Michigan's Copper Ridge golf course. Michigan prosecutors issued an arrest warrant in August 2007 that charged Ingram with a felony count of breaking and entering of a building in Grand Blanc Township near Flint, and of stealing a purse containing cash and credit cards.
The fall from the top can be extremely steep.I am sorry to hear about Ingram. That game had to be the highlight of his career. Its been all downhill since then. Players like Mercury Morris and Duper have had their dance with the devil but they have come back to some respectability. One can only wish the same for Ingram
Obviously Ingram is another case of an ex NFL player who couldn't handle his finances. I mean, who can blame him? We all drop millions everyday like its nothing. Such a sad story to see someone be so high, a Super Bowl champion with the Giants and a solid target for Marino in Miami, and then fall so far.
Ah OK... Yeah, I've been on FH since Aug of '04 and see you were on about a month after but (here my memory fails me LOL as I am sure I mustve seen you there before but forgot) I noticed Jets fans like BleedinGreenNC, GreenMachine, Jets81, nyjunc more... its all good...
Sorry, but what did Duper do? I guess I'm a big duh, but I don't know anything about him after he left.
