    You mean "Loria". Not Arison.

    Obviously a mistake by dolfan.

Arison owning the team would be a dream.

And am I the only guy who thinks that if you gave Riley 60 days of prep time that he couldn't do as good a job as Beinfest?

Get them both in here. Lebrun too. Have him man CF next to Stanton.

Good god. How I mixed up that scumbag Loria with the great Mickey Arison is unacceptable. Sorry guys. Literally like the 2 most opposite owners, lol.

Not exactly the same thing, but I agree that MLB needs to step in and stop this. The precedent has been set. Loria is killing the franchise and market. This is why I also support a salary floor in sports. If Loria is getting money from the other teams, he needs to put a certain amount back into payroll, in my opinion. What he just did is essentially take money out of the other owner's pockets as well. Just disgraceful.

I don't think Arison cares about baseball, and I don't think he could find a Pat Riley equivalent to leave the baseball ops to.

I agree with everything but this. The trade measured by itself, is complete bull****. Maybe if D'Arnaud or Lawrie was included, I could get some level understanding of their thinking, but as presently constructed, this trade is the worst in this franchises history.

True, I'm just saying. Infante >>>>> Yunel.

But the Marlins really don't give a **** about personnel right now. It's all about that sweet, sweet revenue sharing and the profits. Oh, the profits.

Tell me I couldn't do a better job than these clowns.

I'd meet with Hamilton and Grienke and I'd be all like "Sign with me and you too can get this" and then I take out a shoebox and I throw a ton of these on the table:

And then we'd have a pizza party. And then we'd all laugh at the Knicks.

And then I'd build a contender with spreadsheets and graphs and calculators, and Padre will lose his ****ing mind.

I feel bad for you Marlins fans. I know Miami has a terrible fanbase, but the people that are fans and the city that paid for that stadium deserves better. This is criminal and flat out unacceptable in sports.

I've yet to see a single fan come out to see a spreadsheet at a ballpark.

Marlins remind of the old Connie Mack A's, huge success, then sell off pieces, suck, build back up, have success, sell off pieces.

Tried to tell y'all spreadsheet folks that Heath Bell was dreadful, was re-assured via some damn stat tracker that he was throwing as hard as ever..lo and behold..and basically here we are...

I WANTED the marlins to be good, now they stink like fish, loved Reyes game.

All he did was take an educated guess based on Loria/Samson's history. He shouldn't be too excited. It's like predicting Joran Van Der Sloot was gonna kill another chick after he got off the first time. Not really a huge shocker.

I would venture to guess that the people using spread sheets were the the most vocal in expressing how horrible a signing that was.

Nah, there is some stat about mph on a fastball that showed he really was throwing as hard as he did in his heyday,

Problem was his fastball lost it's movement and it was fairly obvious if you actually, you know, watched him pitch instead of using a spreadsheet.

Haha I love this argument. You assume just because people use advanced stats doesn't mean they don't actually watch the game. This is entirely untrue. Even the most spreadsheet/pro stat people out there still scout players or have discussions with pro scouts etc.

Of course you keep talking about just FB velocity however our spreadsheets did tell us that it would have been a bad signing due to his big drop in K rate while his walk rate was increasing along with his HR rate (while pitching in Petco).

But I guess that wouldn't fit your narrative about "spreadsheet" guys.

and the reason we knew his fastball had lost it's movement was because of a advanced stat. (Pitcher contact rate)

And I mentioned that I'd watch him pitch and it was fairly clear he was not the same pitcher.

You disagreed with HardKore when he said "spreadsheet" guys were probably most again his signing. That's what I was commenting on.

Just please admit you're wrong with your assumptions that "spreadsheet" guys don't watch games and just rely entirely on stats. Hell check out page 18 of this very thread. I clearly mention that Bell's fastball is straight and he pitches up in the zone. In fact in the discussion of the Bell signing not one single person even mentions fastball velocity. Everyone was focused on his declining K rate and the fact that historically signing a RPer long term never works out for teams.
