I'm having a tough time figuring this out. Some sites don't have the fumble and recovered by the same player as a recovered fumble

Last game we were 0-1 of offense and 0-2 on defense. So a total of 3 fumbles and no recovery

Is there a reliable site that has our year to date number. I would guess we are at about 25% recovery rate but that's just a guess

We're lower than your guess of 25%. We've recovered 2 of 11 on offense, and 3 of 15 on defense/STs.

If your numbers are accurate that's frightening

On the flip side imagine our record if those were flipped

If we are not last I feel sorry for who is last because it feels like we NEVER get a ****ing bounce.

Yup. Unlucky on fumble recoveries and dropping easy INTs. We've got it all!

Just imagine how much lower this would be if Matt Moore was starting.

Lol..all I can do is laugh during the game, and ask when does it end man..

Between this stat, and all the blantantly bad ref calls, I'm not sure what I'm seeing, and I don't know where these events end the game for the Phins.

MEh, I still feel like fumble recoveries are about awareness and who wants it most.

I'd guess that we're not even close to the league average in recovery %... This has a large part to do with our 4-6 record. That, and missed opportunities on both Offense and Defense... Though I suppose fumbles are a large part of the missed opportunities on Offense.

Luck is a large part, but some teams consistently have phenomenal percentages i.e. da Bears. A good percentage sustained is indicative of awareness, desire, coaching... AND luck. Obviously, the ball has to bounce your way to have a chance at the recovery.

    Per Ben Volin on twitter

@BenVolinPBP: Weird stat: #Dolphins have fumbled 13 times and lost 9 of them. Dolphins D has forced 16 fumbles and recovered 3

Still bad but the numbers are different from stitches

Chicago does not have phenomenal percentages. They are 53% this season, they were 50% last season.

Teams can create fumbles though. That is someone of an ability. But recovering them is just random luck.

I don't agree GH, I think when your flowing to the ball as a defense, playing fast, aggressive, gang tackling mentality, the more people around the ball..

The ball is not round and it bounces funny.

True, but the odds of the recovery can be altered by how many people are around the ball, and how close you are in proximity when the fumble occurs.

Would you argue that our defense does not "swarm to the ball"? And what about offensive recoveries/non-recoveries.

Obviously, your odds go up if you've got 4 people trying to jump on the ball and the opponent has 1. It just doesn't always work out that way.

The number of people are the ball greatly enhances a team's chance to recover.
