What makes the heat win the best in the history of basketball? What trend are you referring to?

    Live from the Internet.
He tweeted out earlier that east coast teams who are on a west coast road trip that play Denver on a 2nd night of a BTB lost 43 straight. Think about it. HEAT hasn't won there in a decade. I fully expected us to get blown out.

Wow- had no idea of the east coast losing streak in Denver. That is wild.

Dwyane still doesn't have a victory at the Pepsi Center though, lol.

The Grizzlies are a very good team but that was one of the worst officiated games in the history of the league. Melo, Smith, Sheed, Woodson all got T'd up after getting systematically mugged at one end of the court and committing ticky-tack fouls at the other end. The Knicks normally commit 17 fouls per game and they had 24 by the end of the 3rd quarter and they did nothing different from the previous night in San Antonio. Then when the game was out of reach with the Knicks down by 21 they let them play. The inconsistency by the refs was glaring and you didnt have to be a Knick fan to see it.

Not for nothing though, Woodson made his dumbest move of the year asking Melo to guard Gasol. IDK what he was thinking.

What happened to the Knicks was predictable. They didn't hit their threes, and they have a ****ty secondary offense.

Metta World Peace had, what might have been, his best game as a Laker. Drained threes all night long and was very active on defense, swiping balls and messing up Phoenix's offense. I wish he played like that every night.

Also of note: Paul Gasol is about to reach 15,000 points. He would be my the 10th foreign player to reach that mark. He will join the likes of Tim Duncan, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem, Detlef Shrempf, Dirk, Steve Nash and Nique, amongst others. Good company to be in.

Of a greater note: Kobe should have 30,000 points soon too. And the way he is shooting this season, it might be sooner than I thought.

If your suggesting NY will live and die by the 3 I think your sadly mistaken. They have a group of smart veterans who play very good defense, and have good enough ball movement to get a shooter an open look. If its a wide open 3 then by all means take it.

Memphis by the way will be a tough out for ANYONE in the WC. And I'm not sure I'm taking 5 PG'S in this league over Mike Conley.

Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo, Kyrie Irving off the top of my head. Doesn't include guys like Westbrook and DWill who are also better.

If he keeps this pace up, it's an interesting discussion but we're like 8 games in. Slow down, Alex44.

An injury is an injury is an injury....

And that kind of injury has a high likelihood of re injury.

I'm the GM of a new franchise today? I'm taking Conley over Rose.

I never said I'd take Chalmers over Rose. That's a head scratcher. I said I think Chalmers COULD develop into a top 10 PG once...which I still do. Not scoring wise but when he decides to play and be aggressive he can make a huge impact.

Fair enough then. As long as you know what I said it's cool to think I'm crazy or disagree

Maybe top ten was a stretch, but I would still say top 15. Which isn't that huge a stretch when you consider that's basically just top half. Though his numbers will never show it because of the team he plays for and the fact that he defers offensively.

I wish he would take on a bit more of an offensive identity. I can't really recall a time he has been denied the lane off of his dribble. I wish he'd penetrate and dish more instead of just passing off to Lebron every single time up the court.

well...the Knicks set the NBA record for 3's made in the first 6 games of a NBA season.....so....what would you call that?

    5 PG's?

Paul, Rondo, Irving, D. Williams, Parker, Westbrook, Rose, Ty Lawson, S. Nash, and S. Curry are better.

Id call the Knicks a team that hits the 3 ball at a high percentage not a team dependent on them. A team dependent on 3's doesnt put up 95 points while shooting 51% even in a loss in spite of a terrible game from 3 (6/19) by their standards. The only player dependent on threes to make his game work is Novak. Brewer, Felton, Novak, Kidd, and of course Melo are just making teams pay for not playing strong D when the Knicks are moving the ball.

FWIW, I think Conley is better then Lawson but agree with the rest of the list.

Congrats to Pau Gasol for reaching 15,000 points last night. 10th foreign player to reach that milestone. With regards to the NBA, where does Pau land in rank on that list? Duncan, Hakeem, and Wilkins are for sure ahead of him. I put Pau ahead of Kiki, and Detlef. Does he rank higher than Ewing and Nash all time? Dirk is ahead of him too I think since he won a World Championship. Prior to that, I think you can have a debate.

But is Pau the fourth best foreign born player to compete in the NBA behind Duncan, Hakeem and Dirk?

Also, I didn't realize this, but Antawn Jamison has an outside shot of reaching 20,000 points this season too. I didn't realize he was THAT prolific.

Like hell Pau is better then Ewing or Nash. Pau wouldnt have done squat with Ewing's Knicks cause hes too soft. Hes a good player but he could never be the #1 option for a team making a conference finals or even a conference semifinals. Ewing carried his team to within 1 quarter of an NBA title and if not for Harper's terrible game 6 and John Starks horrendous games 7 he would have had a chip. The Knicks actually won every single stat that series except for FG%. Only the best center since Jabbar's prime (and yes IMO Hakeem was that good) was able to stop it from happening. Hell Im not even sure Pau is a better player then his brother. Pau had to get traded just to have a half decent playoff run. Hes good but to even put him up there with a HOF with Ewing and a 2x MVP like Nash is crazy. The idea you'd put Wilkins who got routinely defeated by Ewings Knicks ahead of him is just as silly. Pau got his rings as a 2nd option. He could never lead a team that far nor has he ever done so.

Conley is a floor general who can RUN an offense.

If your the Heat who makes you better? Conley or Westbrook?

    Conley.

On a team like the Heat that already has scoring options 1, 2, and 3 lined up a pass first option like Conley is better. If youre starting a team from scratch Westbrook wins and its not close. Actually if you want the most overlooked PG in the league its Kyle Lowry. Hes Conley except a better scorer and defender.

It's harder to find an all around PG than another frail scorer at the position.

Even on the Knicks I'm taking Conley over Westbrook.

I like Ewing, and I can be persuaded either way on where to put Pau on that list. Pau will be a Hall of Famer when it is all said and done and he has a possibility of winning more championships. If he gets more rings and close to 20k points, where does he fit in on that list?

At some point, rings have to matter for something, especially in a league like the NBA where one player certainly makes a difference between a winner and a loser.

    Just curious is all.

    Conley of course....

But I would take S. Curry over him for the Heat. You gotta shoot to play PG on the Heat. Conley is a decent shooter from three, but he has averaged exactly 1 three per game for his career. The rest of his game has some pretty inefficient shooting.

He is a very good P&R player, so he would be an awesome fit with any team that has good scorers.

Westbrook is really a 2 guard that gets called a PG.

I'm a fan of Conley...but let's slow down this bandwagon a little bit.

Woodson is a "motion offense" type coach. On the Knicks, you have one post threat (Melo), and one midpost threat (Amare). The P&R game is exclusively with Felton/Chandler, and Felton/Amare (yet to be seen).

They run ISO offense with 2 guys, JR Smith, and Melo.

Kidd, Novak, Brewer round out the rotation on the perimeter. All three are spot up shooters.

When The Knicks side up their offense, they pull triggers off of Melo. Spot up shooting is the only secondary offense that is available. They NEVER recycle.

That is the very definition of a team dependent on 3 pt. shooting.

The dead giveaway is their offensive rankings: Rim Offense: #19. High Post rank: #22 Midrange rank: #11 Three pt. EFG% rank: #2

Now compare that with a paint attack team (Miami) : Rim Offense: #1. High Post: #2 Midrange rank: #1 Three pt. EFG% rank: #1
