6 games left in the season and he's been unemployed the entire time?

Stealers are decimated atm, they had little choice

Ireland is going to have his hands full getting playmakers on offense, especially if they let Reggie Bush walk. We have Hartline and Bess who are solid in themselves, but we need more dynamic players at WR, TE and RB (if they don't re-sign Bush.)

Point being we should have gone into the season with him if the plan was to win games.

He's not a Philbin kind of player. Too many character concerns.

Like it or not, that's the way it is.

As a friend of mine said on twitter, how much do you want to bet Plaxico Burress ends the season in only 6 games with more touchdowns than Brian Hartline.

As soon as Tannehill started over MMoore the season was not about winning.

It's a positive sign, to me it means there going to play Matthews, and we know that guy can play..rookie with upside gettin PT..win win..

I noticed Gafney had lost some size.

Is it just me, or am I the only one that thinks Fasano can be a legitmate threat but rarely gets used. The only time I ever see him making grabs are in the 4th quarter. I feel he could be a beast if used more often, just my 2 cents.

I don't think Fasano has the athleticism to be like one of the tight ends who is used in that way. Think Vernon Davis, Jimmy Graham, and Aaron Hernandez, and then think Fasano.

Fasano has his strengths and is a useful player, but he's not even an above-average receiving threat IMO.

I suspect that lingering health issues ,unfamiliarity with the playbook were factors plus that it takes time to get used to Tannys throws.
Both Armstrong and Gaffney had problems with drops.

Also it could be that they recognized that is not a playoff team so they might as well develop the younger receivers on the roster.

Fasano is more like a poor man's heath miller. good blocker, decent pass catcher. difference is Miller is a little better pass catcher, especially in the redzone. I'm fine with Fasano as our #2, but if we are going to have Philbin as a coach, we need his type of TE. I don't care if we spend our 1st round pick, getting a Jimmy Graham will pay huge dividends.

Do we really know Matthews can play? He looked good in preseason against scrubs, sure. He's had meaningful snaps in a few games this year, caught a pass, and drew a penalty. I agree though, I think there's alot of upside there, and I'm glad we're apparently going to try and get him on the field, but I think it's a bit early on this kid to be saying we know he can play. I do agree though, getting him on the field is big for us. We need to see IF he can play before this season ends.

Only one way to find out if he can play.

To me, the NFL is to cautious when it comes to playing young players in general.

Doubt it, Fasano is a sort of poor man's Jeremy Shockey.

I do expect something to happen with the offensive line this Sunday, just don't see them watching the same things happen over and over again and not do anything about it, heck Bush had 2 fumbles and he was benched why would the OL that is underperforming not suffer the same fate?

For example Garner for Incognito could easily happen.

5 without Yeatman, if you just include the new guy and count Clay as a TE. Fasano, Mastrud, and Egnew, with Clay and the new guy.

He's only been active for 2 games, Oakland and Buffalo and only played offense in the Buffalo game. So, meaningful snaps in 1 game.

When Garner took a few snaps for Incognito after that personal foul penalty, he looked so bad that Richie looked like Alan Faneca in comparison.

Garner was OK at best. He's backup material, not starter. How about we raise our aspirations?

I can't believe how far Garner has fallen. He was a decent starter for a while. Not star material, however he would get the job done. Now he is just total crap.

Nate Garner would not be the guy I stick on the field.

I would activate Will Yeatman for games and use him as a 3rd tackle on plays where you'd normally bring your blocking specialist tight end on the field. The Dolphins can't run the ball right now and evidently it's driving Sherman nuts, so that would be a logical step.

The reality is they're probably not thinking of taking either Richie Incognito or John Jerry off the field. They're going to continue using the remainder of the season to see if either guy has a longer term future here. We can say it's obvious they don't but either one could turn it up by the end of the year and suddenly whoa boy aren't we glad we kept that guy.

I'd love to stick Josh Samuda on the field at some point but like I said, there's probably more to be gained from figuring out whether Incognito and Jerry need to be here. Samuda is really young, and is going to be here anyway, so he'll have plenty of time to try and win a job at some point.

But in the mean time the Yeatman thing should be happening already and I'm surprised it's not.

Releasing Jabbar Gaffney is a great sign that we're going to be seeing much more of Rishard Matthews. Similar football players, IMO. And it's about time we see more of him.

Sherman's latest statements about Michael Egnew are highly discouraging on a number of levels. You're going to shelf the guy the whole year? Really? Why? It's BS, IMO. Put him on the field and see what he's got. Sherman has it out for this guy and I'm not going to assume he's got good reason for that. Sherman hasn't earned that kind of benefit of the doubt, IMO.

Goes without saying Lamar Miller needs to be out there more.

The Egnew situation reminds me a lot of the Jason Allen situation we had in 2006.

Here we had the #16 overall pick, a bad football team that started 1-6, and yet the coaches still wouldn't put Jason Allen on the field.

Gaffney sucks. I never understood the hype when we signed him.
The fanbase needed a name WR so badly and it failed.
The people who praised this move should be ashamed of themselves as fans.

Yeah, well...you can't have on your roster what you don't have...all we can do is hope that Mathews is developing quickly enough to get some experience. The bottom line, as we have all pretty much said since the beginning of the season, is that we have a lack of play makers, be they at TE, WR, RB, DE, LB, S etc... Irish has a chance to set this franchise up for the near future or set it up for the next guy... One thing is for sure, while dumping Marshall was probably the right thing to do, Ireland's attempts to replace that production have fallen short...that's perhaps not all his fault...I mean, a CJ85 with his head on right or a healthy Gaffney or a developing MMoore might have made a difference.

I think its interesting to look at our roster and think where our starters might be on the depth chart of other teams. I might think that Fasano would be a 2nd or third string TE on other teams. I don't think we have many players who would be starters on a lot of other teams. Cameron Wake for sure, Jake Long and Pouncey most likely, Burnett and Dansby probably. Fields most definitely would be a starter somewhere. Soliai and Starks would have a good chance to be starters elsewhere. Reggie Bush, I just don't know if he would or not as inconsistent as he's been this year. John Denny would probably be the long snapper for another team. Other than those players I couldn't see the rest of our roster as starter material elsewhere. I didn't include Tannehill because I just don't think he should have been rushed into starting this year, he needed to have a year to learn and assimilate the position.
