I dunno. Ich keine sprechen Deutsch. But the Hitler rants about the Dolphins are hilarious, especially the one about Henne.
No one is advocating for Jeff Ireland here. It's a transparently terrible straw man. But if we're Mark Sanchez supporters, you're a Tim Tebow fan.
LMAO. Do you share an account with someone? Or was that you back in October saying that the team would be elite in two years?
I'm not for or against Ireland but god am I against Bill Polian. We will never be halfway decent again if that man runs our franchise.
Polian In and Ireland Out? All you've said is Polian sucks. Care to show us a GM that fits your non-suck standard?
Polian In and Ireland Out? I've asked twice, I doubt he answers. It's like I said in my OP, EVERY GM drafts ****ty players from time to time, and fans can only hope their better picks outnumber the bad picks.
Compared to Bill Polian's last decade or so? Probably 2/3rds of the decision makers in the league. Every GM in the AFCE. I would literally be more comfortable with pretty much any of the Ireland replacements that have been discussed. Scott Pioli is a terrible GM but I would rather have him because he is less likely to survive long with that poor a performance. Please, go do some research at how bad Bill Polian was. He had multiple drafts that were Wannstadt or Millen quality.
Polian In and Ireland Out? So....you are throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks?? Please post something tangible rather than nebulous BS.
The difference between Ireland and Polian is that when faced with the choice of Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf in the draft, Ireland would have taken Kyle Turley.
Seriously, pick a name to compare him to. It's very difficult to match the futility of Bill Polian from 2005-2010 without dropping the Matt Millen card.
Polian In and Ireland Out? And that's exactly what I am asking you to do. You raised the point that there are better GMs out there. You won't give the standard by which you are measuring, and then expect me to do the comparing to your standard, which you've changed from a decades time to 5 years time. Either stick to a timeframe and give your measurements of success for a GM, or just stop already.
Just about anyone would be an upgrade over Ireland, who happens to be one of the worst GM's in the NFL. He has been here for five years, and the Dolphins are a sub 500 team over his time as the teams GM. Except for Pioli, in Kansas City, no other GM has been as bad as Ireland over this same period of time. The only way attendance will increase and fan interest will return in the South Florida market will be if fans truly believe this team is headed in the right direction. Retaining Ireland after this season would send the wrong message to the fan base. Ross has to put his big boy pants on and decide that it is time to get rid of the man most responsible for building one of the least talented teams in the entire NFL.
Polian ? I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.... typicial dolphins fan mentality, can't fault them. Still pretty stupid though...... Here a hint for all the Gm experts in training out there......... once you resort to ESPN for a TV job, stick a fork in yourself...... your done. Still waiting for someone with half a brain to come out and prove Ireland hasnt done enough to justify being a GM in this league... It's all just been childish nonsense thus far. ( going through draft results pointing out who we could have had ) All the posters i look to for insight seem to be on the other side on this one ( the FireLand campaigners just dont understand - are an embarrassment side ) Call us apologists, but we're really just questioning your failed logic more than anything. Let's for a second imagine all these critics displaced to INDY, pre-2012... Their opinion of Polian would be completely different.
Do you not somehow realize that "every GM in the AFC East" involves individuals which are pretty clearly identified? Do you not know their names or something? Also, no, I'm not changing any sort of time-frame. Polian was bad for a long time, but he was about as awful as you can get from about 2005 to his firing.
apply that question to any other team... you can play the same game... This Gm actually drafted a QB in the 1st, that was considered a reach by most, but the player has already proved to be worth the price and more. Was criticized for using the pick on a player that wont contribute ( probably by the same people who ***** about everything else )....... But his 2nd pick is also starting. So we got a franchise QB, a solid starter with the 2nd pick, didnt over-spend in Free agency.... cut the me-1st knuckleheads from the roster while still getting good value in return. I'm just not seeing were all the *****ing is coming from... if we actually won a few of the past 3 games ( with the same roster ) most would be singing a different tune, or atleast keep their mouth shut I'm sure. It's all just emotional, female -like, rush to judgement stuff you guys have no shame in displaying. You'd have been happier with Matt Flynn and MArio Williams on the team before the season, but had we actually signed them, you'd have been all over Ireland for that too by now.
Polian In and Ireland Out? Do you somehow not realize that you still haven't given your measurable standard for a good GM? You've pointed to names and not shown your reasoning other than to say 'look at them'. Pick one and tell us the reasons you think they are a good GM. This shouldn't be that hard. You know they are good GMs, just tell us why you think they are. Again, you've made this your position, and all I am asking for is clarification on this position. I can assume that you aren't using Pro Bowl appearances as a measure as you essentially laughed at using Bethea and Addai as support for Polian. As to timeframe, you absolutely changed it. First it was a decade, which would be from '01 to '11. Now it is from '05 to '11. Which is it?
Thats just ******ed.... your not helping your case. I get it........ he's so afraid to draft a QB, that's why he took Tannehill, who could move to WR if he didnt pan out. Right ? somebody is late to the party.
The ultimate measure... Playoff appearances? Super Bowl appearances? For Polian: 11/15 with Colts for playoffs (2 SB's) 1/4 with Panthers (1 SB) 6/8 with Bills (3 SB's) Total: 18 for 27, that's 67%. By all means, open to anyone... name your GM candidate and provide his playoff numbers...
After four years and with only Matt Moore and Pat Devlin on the roster, he HAD to take a QB. And rather than trade up for the only rookie QB to ever pass for 4 TD's in back to back games, he drafted the one that fell to his pick. I stumped for RGIII and while I like Tannehill a lot, he was basically drafted by default to save a job.
How is this at all opaque to you? The success rate of draft picks. Are the players he selected good, or are they not good? It's not rocket surgery. Adjust for round, it's not fair to hold late round picks to any sort of frequent success rate. Bill Polian pretty arrogantly decided that he was going for forgo free agency, which is baffling considering he was quite inept at the draft, but hey. A good draft is multiple players who are average starter/heavy rotational player or better. One is not good. Two is acceptable, three or more ideal. None is terrible. You can adjust it based on the quality of the successes, but at the end of the day it's one pick and player and you can't really go overboard. 2008 I would say is Belichick's worst draft, where he pretty much only got Jerod Mayo whom is a pretty good player. However, that's about the average contribution from a draft for Bill Polian, and even then the production from the single player isn't that good. He has multiple drafts he had no players who match that standard, and multiple where he only had one player who was any good, and not even that great. You can get more technical if you want. For example, first round picks pretty much follow a loose 30/30/30 rule. About 30% will be guys who live up to the pick(high quality starters, guys who you would be happy drafting in the 1st round in the future or would be traded for that), about 30% are decent starters/heavy role-players, and about 30% are terrible starters or can't get on the field. What'd you get if you apply that to Polian? [/quote] Both? '01 to '11 is a decade, a flat round number that demonstrates the length of futility. He had a couple of good picks at the beginning, but overall it's an awful haul for a long period of time. However, 2005 to 2011 was particularly awful, about as bad a stretch as you can get in the NFL. If you really wanna pretend like it's some sort of contradiction, I guess that's cool(might not be true), but I was illustrating two different things.
Are you willing to tell me that Bill Polian did a good job in the draft? http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/clt/draft.htm
Im going to remember that. Your assuming that the new coaching staff had nothing to do with drafting Tannehill than, if you think he was drafted merely to save Irelands job. That's a pretty telling statement as to your knowledge of the team. I'll also get back to you on the 3 1st round picks for RG3 later on, as it will look dumber and dumber as the years go by.
Lets not forget 4 straight super-bowl appearances by the Buffalo Bills, who were unable to win. I also believe Pollian was fired in Indy.
