Oh give me a ****ing break. All these threads ever turn into are Ireland haters and Ireland supporters going at eachother's throats for 10 pages. It's not one group over the other, it's both. I'm completely numb to it at this point. I just don't care about it anymore.
the context got him fired with the Colts. Promoted from the Panthers. And the Bills got tired of losing super bowls (if only we were so fortunate). I think I already did answer your question earlier in the thread.
Dj, honestly, if you were hired to do a job, but your superior had final say on all your decisions, and you didn't like he decisions but your reputation was on the line, would you have stayed on the job. He was either a puppet for 3 years and incompetent enough to stay on a job that was dragging is reputation down, or he was complicit in all of it.
Uh, he's still on the job? Obviously his reputation wasn't dragged down enough in the eyes of Stephen Ross and Carl Peterson for him to be fired. Or do you suppose your view of his reputation is the one that matters?
THAT!!!!, young sir, is utter bovine scatology! I had family from my fathers generation who died fighting Nazism, Fascism, and Hakko Ichui! Comparing Ireland to Hitler is immature ignorance at best, and those of us who do not conform with the Fire Ireland brigade to mindless Nazi sympathizers is insulting beyond my capacity to state! I would say you ought to wash your mouth out with soap, but it would be an insult to the soap! Holy &*%^&(* BS! Go back and read "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich!!!!
If Polian were truly a great GM he would've helped Manning win more than 1 SB. We saw what happened last year w/o Manning. The team was terrible. If Polian didn't luck out with the #1 pick during a draft that featured Peyton freakin' Manning, his firing wouldn't have been postponed for so long.
I just don't see why some of you are pushing for Polian after being an underachiever in Indy. Even the Colts knew it, hence he's no longer their GM upon entering the Luck era..... but no, half of us would want him building a team around Tannehill. I don't get you guys sometimes.
Polian In and Ireland Out? Found this.... http://www.forbes.com/2010/08/24/fo...orts-nfl-football-valuations-10-managers.html Have to wonder how you go from arguably the top GM in the league by objective measures to the game passed you by in the span of a season?
Who cares about years ago ? Get with the times. Polian is done..... maybe you'll come around when its more obvious Carolina doesnt want him. What the hell does Forbes know about football anyway... they're basing his ability off the team's success. I'm sure Pioli is up there too. Keep trying too hard. Keep watching ESPN ! Thats where this debate gets funny, you suggest Polian and defend him to death. And that's more than you'd ever consider doing for anyone in business with your own team.
You have not produced one example of what you would classify as a good gm and you have not accompinied that example with what standards you are using as the criteria to grade said gm. You been ducking and sidestepping his question. You are fast to tear down Polian but you have offered no alternative.
I very clearly did that http://www.thephins.com/forums/show...-Ireland-Out&p=1915643&viewfull=1#post1915643 Please pay attention the level of discourse is bad enough on the merits as it is.
Polian In and Ireland Out? PS: I don't watch ESPN, I found the article while searching for something else and it is relevant to the discussion of Polian. Sorry your nose is held too high in the air to even answer the question.
keep digging tho.... and you never asked me a Q. The issue is Ireland and we're waiting on you guys to really build a case... You can waste time with Polian, not us.
Polian In and Ireland Out? I haven't defended a single GM candidate. I asked a poster who blindly dismissed Polian for clarification as to how they reached that stance. I then posted an article that was relevant to the discussion and asked another question. Keep working on that reading comprehension! You want to know how I feel about Ireland? Ask, don't assume. I've voiced opinions about Ireland that ranged from fire the tool, to give him and Philbin time to do work. But keep trying hard on that assumption! Any other mischaracterizations you would like to make about my posts?
Yeah, my post was directed at the quoted post, not the whole demographic of people who do not agree with Fireland nor Jeff Ireland at all. Sorry you saw the "H" word and it ruined your day, please have a better one.
Polian In and Ireland Out? The hell I didn't! Learn to read and try again. Hell, I'll even ask you again: How does a GM go from arguably a top GM to fired within 2 years? Is that plain enough for you? Do you need it asked again?
Polian In and Ireland Out? And I've waited for a standard to use, which I now have. His many years am I allowed to use? Do I not count Parcells years? Or does Ireland get graded on the time in position?
do elaborate on the " mischaracterizations "..... I said your defending Polian.... resorting to forbes articles from years ago....... i took a jab saying keep digging & watching ESPN. Your very good at creating drama out of thin air. It may be utter nonsense, but its still somewhat comprehendable, don't fret.
I think it's pretty obvious to the point you shouldn't need to ask. Peyton Manning getting injured uncovered how god-awful the roster Polian had built really was.
Polian In and Ireland Out? And you're very good at forgetting what you post. Keep digging though And edits apparently
Polian In and Ireland Out? Denial my ***, learn to read. Show one of my posts where there was anything remotely close to a defense or endorsement of Polian.
i guess it was someone else who cherry picked a completely outdated article by a non-football editorial that portrayed the said GM as the best there is.... and demanded an explanation from those shooting down the idea of replacing Ireland with him. It is you who isnt aware of what's being said. Your either backpedaling or confused. Keep the childish " reading comprehension" jokes to yourself and the rest of the little bus.
I dunno, you could do that. It's a thing that is done. Or you could come up with an objection to what I wrote an argue it in a way supported by evidence or even anecdote.
Polian basically built a TERRIBLE Colts team and was aided by stumbling into having the best QB of our era. His teams were pretty devoid of talent across the board and their defenses were laughable. His Panther teams weren't that good as shown by your stats and the Bills were in a COMPLETELY different era that says nothing about the modern NFL.
I don't think however you cut it meaningfully changes thing. Either with Parcells, or without Parcells the quality(or lack thereof if you wanna go there) is pretty similar, and the decision making process is fairly consistent.
Polian In and Ireland Out? Contrary to popular belief, I am coming in with a fairly open mind. I pressed on the measuring stick so we aren't comparing apples to oranges.
