Protip: Grab the DLC season pass immediately, if only for the fifth (and upcoming sixth) character class. Honestly, Borderlands 2's DLC is much more fun than any other DLC I've played.

It is a great game. It's quite hard, but a lot of deaths can be avoided if you're just cautious in your actions. Treat it more like your own life rather than a video game character's.
welcome to the suck. in a good way. effin love that game. if you're on xbox and need help at some point i have a bunch o characters saved that can be of assistance edit: but I won't help unless you're truly stuck. part of the fun of the game is dying over and over again on the same boss and getting mad, forcing you to come up with a new strategy. getting easy help takes all the fun out of it

Played a bit and got past the first boss. First impression is controls are clunky, and game is ugly and depressing. Ugly as in poor graphics, depressing as in, I don't know just depresses me so far. And how the **** do I use magic? I'll give it some more time before I give up on it.
From my experience the graphics are pretty nice.. what system are you on? The controls are more unforgiving than clunky. Once you master timing and stuff it gets better, but they ARE different I'll give you that. And depressing... yeahh. Thats fairly accurate. I can certainly understand how the game isn't everyone's cup of tea, so it's possible you'll never like it.. but give it some more time and you'll enjoy it more. For magic there are three types: sorcery faith and pyro. For each you need a casting tool (catalyst, talisman or glove). You then separately need to also have a spell that you can use equipped. With both the casting item and spell equipped you can use it so long as you have the minimum stats to use the spell and caating item, and you have casts of the spell left. http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/ This site is helpful with explaining a lot.
