What's next? Well, by the sounds of things, Jeff Ireland is going to stay on as GM. So I imagine much of the same. Another .500 or worse season. Can't wait.
Seems you could start a thread around these parts about the price of tea in China and it would eventually evolve into a Jeff Ireland discussion.
Outside of a nose tackle and punter, we've undergone a complete rebuild since 2008. Parcells essentially played Madden Franchise Mode with us.... and was paid millions for it. This was never going to be easy once he took us off track with the wrong coaches. I imagine it's quite difficult to quickly undo an offense that was built around 3 years of Dan Henning.
The rise in prices doesn't affect as many Dolphin fans. They don't mind paying a little extra for the imported team because they saved a lot of money cancelling season tickets because of the team Jeff Ireland has put together.
Unless we lose out the rest of the way and the fans organize protests, I think Ireland gets another year. He has the cap space, the extra draft picks, the franchise QB (or he better anyway), and it will be his THIRD draft without Parcells calling the shots. Enough time to rebuild a team and make it at least a playoff contender in this age of NFL parity. Some critical decisions to be made, as we need a DE, CB, OT, TE, and a #1 WR to contend. Ireland cannot bust in free agency again, nor waste any of the first three rounds of picks (looking at YOU Egnew). I have a feeling, with the new logo/look of the 2013 Dolphins, that the FO will be trying to sell a message of "we are ready to contend". Will the season ticket holders buy into that? Or do they hold off, and wait till the team starts winning again to return?
I want the Miami Dolphins to be good and relevant again. Thats my only agenda. And I dont see that happening as long as Ireland is running things. Hope Im wrong, but dont think I am.
And I'm excited to see the same posters that get excited about the draft next year and blindly support every pick and decision Ireland makes and say "I think we win 11 games this year, we can win the East" Just like every other year only to be crying at the end of the year cause this team won 5 games again. Its funny how the people who want change are looked down upon by the "Real Dolphins Fans" I guess "Real Dolphins Fans" like crappy football teams.
That's why I start tons of threads that are hard to subvert into yet anothe Ireland discussion. The Jets have a sub forum for ALL Tebow threads. Maybe it's time for an Ireland sub-forum.
