Last week, vs Rams, 49ers had season worsts in: - Penalties (11) - Frank Gore Rushing Yds/Carry (2.5 avg) Summary Looks like their Offense is about equal to our Defense. If that goes as expected it won't tip the balance of the game.... unless Kaepernick runs wild. Mobile QB's have hurt us. Where the game favors the prospectors is their DEFENSE versus our Offense. They stand a good chance of shutting down the run, and forcing Tannehill to throw... which would be disaster. Jon Martin making his first NFL start at left tackle against the man with more sacks in his first two years than anyone in the history of the NFL has done in their first two? That's a recipe for disaster. If this becomes a game that depends on us throwing to win, expect multiple sacks, maybe a strip sack, and multiple INTs. I expect to see a lot of Ryan rolling to his right. In fact, that's where any blitzes should come from, with Smith coming from Ryan's left already. Ryan may overwork that right sideline pass to Hartline too much and see another INT because of going to the well once too often on his half-field options. Bad protection leads to rollouts leads to half field options leads to CBs jumping predictable throws. We live with it or draft an OT that stays healthy. Our only chance of winning, imo is having over 150 yards combined rushing AND screen plays. If we do that, we move the ball enough to win. Finally, our supposedly superior Special Teams must account for more points than theirs this week, not just help with field position. I don't want to see Carpenter kicking FGs instead of us scoring TDs. The Special Teams needs to contribute with turnovers and/or TDs of their own. This is an uphill battle, folks. What do you think?
A good team coming home, playing a bad team after a road loss to a bad team. We're toast. This one could very well be a blowout.
I think it will be a blowout. Also consider the extra disadvantage of an east coast team traveling to play on the west coast. This game will make the Texans and the Titans games seem like nail biters.
49ers defense is #1 in points allowed, by far.Dolphins offense is #27 in points scored. We will be lucky to put double digits on the board.
I dont know, San Fran is the style of team we actually matchup decently against. They are not going to out physical us, they want to run the ball and our best attribute is stopping that run (sometimes). They have run for under 100 yards in 2 games, both loses (Minnesota and Giants), and last week they got over 100 but only because of a Kaepernick 50 yard scramble (and lost) Stop the run and it will be a low scoring affair and the Niners are beatable...
I think this could easily be Tannehill's worst game, given the dynamics I alluded to above, along with the fact that Martin will be blocking Aldon Smith. Tannehill could very well be pulled from this one at some point.
I actually think you are on to something here. I think this will be the first game that Tannehill will be pulled.
It'll give Miami a nice preview of Dashon Goldson. I think he's a guy they should be seriously interested in during free agency this offseason. I think he'd team up very well with Reshad Jones.
The keys for this game is simple for us. It's just like it was against Seattle. Shut down Gore and force Kaepernick to beat us. This time, let's try to keep the mobile QB from running wild. Offense needs to protect the ball and get creative. I do not think this game will be the blowout most others do, unless we turn the ball over. I like our defense a lot so I think if we can take care of the football we have a chance. We'll see though. Niners are going to be angry.
Have you watched this team? They are probably the most physical team in the league, and I am not exaggerating. They are predicated on physical play. One word that does not come to mind when talking about the Miami Dolphins is 'physical'.
