In Hindsight do you still trade Marshall for Eggnew and a 3rd rounder?

Trading Barndon Marshall and not doing anything to replace him was a stupid indefensable move.

Except Barry Sanders didnt have the other issues working against him. His teammates actually liked him and he was never consistently in trouble. As a matter of fact, Sanders was so well noted for being a good person he won SI's Sportsman of the Year Award

    Competent professionals?

If Marshall is on his game and mentally straight, he's one of the best players in the league. If not, he's a white elephant. There is no way to control if Marshall has his head on straight, and it's driven him off of two teams already. Given that Marshall asked for a trade, it's pretty safe to say he wouldn't have suddenly stopped being a ****-up here.

If we are gonna bring Tannehill along the right way are you saying you want that ****ing Diva around Tannehill poisoning the guy before he even has a chance. No way not me. It was a good move by Ireland. He got him for 2 years for 2 #2's and then traded him for two #3's and got rid of a 10 million dollar contract. We are positioned well to make some great moves in the off season as soon as they get rid of Jake Long and his outrageous contract. Next year we will make strides.

My requisite "to be fair" response: how do you replace what is arguably right now the second best receiver in the NFL behind Calvin Johnson?

With that out of the way, making no move to at least make up for some of Marshall's departed production was absolutely a huge error.

departed production? Didn't he have like 3 TD's in 2010 and 6 TD's all of last year. If you call marching up and down the field between the 20's productive, ok.

Some of you are too wowed by his stats to remember all the dropped tds. Seriously, he was as much a part of our redzone issues last year as henne/Moore were.

I'm not trying to claim the guy isn't a beast, he is, but he let us down time and time again.

As others have alluded to, trading Marshall was fine by me. Not replacing him was a huge mistake. Bess and Hartline are solid, but they're bishops and knights. We need a queen.

Again. There is no evidence whatsoever that he asked for a Trade from the Dolphins. None. This is a canard that has taken a life of it's own.

What does all of that mean? "Winner"? "Overrated player" that you have "ever" watched? It's all gibberish based on emotion.

The facts are that his production, if he can keep it near his career averages for the next 5 years, will land him in Canton, with a Yellow Jacket and a nifty bust.

The guy exemplifies what a "winner" is. He gives maximum effort and plays with a mean streak that is rarely seen for a WR. The guy is a machine. he can't help it that we ****ed him up. Even then, he was still productive here.

Face it, this franchise can **** up a ******* from Scarlett Johansen.

Who cares? it means nothing. There is not a link in the internet with either Marshall, Ireland, Philbin, or Ross saying that he asked for a trade out of Miami.

We treated him like a child when he first got here, and then never tried to call a game that would highlight his talents.

Remember...I was against the trade...but had they flipped him for a slight downgrade, while recouping 50 cents on the dollar..I would have been fine with it.

They didn't. They got Nannee and Ochostinko

Why would it show that? It didn't show it with Henne. Didn't show it with Moore. You guys have to remember what actually happened and not get caught up on potential talent. We had Marshall with Henne, Thigpen & Moore and he didn't improve our offense at all. Why would he with a rookie? Marshall is not a go to WR he is a go to him only WR. There's a difference.

Calvin has quite a few drops this year. I rather have a 12 drop Marshall than a 0 drop Bess and Hartline.

A winner at wr is someone who catches the ****ing ball in the end zone. 1 dropped td? Fine. 2? Slightly annoying given the 50 million ****ing dollars, but okay. After that though, **** him. Marshall should have had 10+ tds last year.

That's a winner. Points on the god damn board.

Marshall had 2 pretty good seasons here, so I can't say we messed him up too much. One of those a Pro Bowl season. It was clear he didn't fit the plans for the new coach and offense. I was fine with the trade. I was not fine with not bringing in someone else.

You have to explain all those receptions last year with virtually nothing to show for it in points or wins, during which no one else was allowed to get any catches. Its silly.

He sucked nuts here. Giant nuts. He put up Hartline numbers last year, while pissing off the players and coaching staff and getting stabbed.

He mentioned on Twitter to Cutler that he wanted to go to Chicago. What happened behind closed doors is stuff we may never know.

Its not based on emotion. The fact that hes in trouble and constantly has issues off the field whether its cause its his fault or trouble finds him, hes a distraction.

Winners make big plays...when does Brandon Marshall? Rarely. He does stuff like he did today...catch Tds when the game is practically over.
"Overrated player"...as in his stats look better then the player really is. As in he gets a lot of garbage time yards and catches. As in he gets his catches between the 20's not in the endzone.
Actually they will create a Fantasy Football HOF section named the Brandon Marshall section because the guy has the best stats of any mediocre player ever. Great for fantasy football. NEVER want him on my team again. Im ashamed he was ever here in the first place. And I actually wanted him figuring a change of scenery might help him. What maximum effort are you talking about? He loafs when the ball doesnt come his way. He doesnt give max effort when run blocking. And he has lapses in concentration like no other "supposedly good" WR I have ever seen.

Miami isnt a good franchise right now, theres no disputing that. But this dude was genetically asscaked, he didnt Miami to mess him up.

So because he was wearing a dolphins uni he couldn't catch it in the end zone? If that's the case then trading him was quite wise.

So a player under preforms because he has garbage throwing to him so trade him for 2 thirds?

The bears have an awful line the major difference from the Bears and Miami is a franchise QB. He doesn't look like **** with Cutler throwing him the ball.

I wish I could rationalize this move to be in favor of us but the Bears are winning and Marshall is in beast mode.

Yeah. There's a reason Bess and Hartline had fair production before and after Marshall. There's a reason Marshall went ape **** on the sidelines and pissed off players and coaches. He demanded the ball and dropped it again and again. He was awesome in Denver, he's awesome in Chicago....he was a PITA here and his production didn't match the headache. Again, we replaced his production with Brian effing Hartline.

You said it was not based on emotion, but you then launched into an emotional diatribe about Marshall, that does not reflect the reality.

The guy is gonna have over 120 catches and over 1,500 yards this year...but I am sure that none of them "mattered". Just LOL.
