The good news is, he is about the same as Pat Turner and Roberto Wallace, so we haven't abandoned our winning template: Name: Armon Binns College: Cincinnati Number: 80 Height: 6-3 Weight: 209 Position: WR Pos2: Class/Draft Year: Sr/2011 40 Low: 4.43 40 Time: 4.50 40 High: 4.59
ThePhins posting 101 rule 13: Take some players that used to play with miami, compare with current move and then make a snarky comment.
I don't think he's going to have a tremendous amount of time to do anything this year, but he's a good prospect for a #4/#5 receiver. How is he in any way like Pat Turner or Roberto Wallace besides "kind of tall"?
I don't consider him a guy likely to do much but make possession catches (or drops)... but in a tallish way. To be fair, Wallace had timed speed.. but played slow anyways.
Bring it on MOFOs! I love that the focal point of your being THRILLED with our new WR is that I'm pointing out how unwonderful he is. It's not my fault we're in this ****uation.
Don't know... but we have inactives each week and it'd likely come from there. Had Misi not gone down I'd have though Kaddu might get cut, but not now.
It's just getting tiresome. Nothing can really be done right now so why get upset about it? Seriously if people are this pissed at Miami for how they are doing things then find a different hobby for the time being.
From Ben: Culver? Certainly can't make less of an impact that most of the WR we've had in and out of here this season
Oh I'm not pissed. I'm just having fun with the people who are persnickety over me actually saying this guy ain't gonna do anything here.
Yes, Disgust... at 4.5 he's a real burner. That's average... and given that nothing else about him has screamed 'mismatch' it's safe to say he'll come and go as quietly as the last two tall guys who couldn't separate. There's a reason he's plabelled a possession receiver, and it's not because he gets behind defenses.
Well maybe he does nothing. At this point in the season you can't do much but turn rocks. It's obvious what we have isn't doing the job so why not look for even a small upgrade? I mean in football you find a lot of dirt when you turn those rocks over but sometimes you find a pot of gold. At the very least he's a tall possession WR who can possibly win a 50/50 ball. We have no-one who can do that now....watching Hartline play that pass in the endzone was pathetic. Maybe Binns can go up and get the ball. I remember liking him out of college a little bit.
And then there's ThePhins advanced post graduate course: rule #1. Defend the incumbent players (especially QB), coaches, and front office no matter what. Rule #2. As soon as they are fired or cut, pretend it never happened.
I have a hard time seeing how you could have anything other than indifference to a move like this. What is there really to like/dislike? The move is pretty insignificant. Taking a flier at the end of the year? What's the big deal to not be a fan of? Was there a different move you preferred? Or did you not like the player we released?
Anything WR related that has zero chance of making a real difference only serves to rub salt in the wound of how crappily negligent Ireland has been at making sure we had what we needed in the WR corps.. as opposed to Turner and ankle-weights Wallace. Now, if we had addressed the WR position with some real effort, then these meaningless moves wouldn't irk me so much.
Because there are a surplus of #1 and #2 receivers on the waiver wire right now... you have got to be the designated dead horse beater for this place.
