Being a little cynical eh Barry? lol. Binns has better long speed than Hartline and better ball skills..... especially around the redzone where he can can contribute in ways Hartline on roids and genetic altering might be only capable. This is why I LOL at the notion of the QB "holding back" Hartline's scoring ability, as well as the notion he's any type of playmaker. Nothing wrong with upgrading the #5/#6 spot while we're waiting for the offseason to fix #1/#2.
This ****ing exactly. It's just getting annoying on here at this point. We know we need upgrades on offensive talent. It's freaking December 10th. Nothing is going to matter until March so just relax.
why even bother at this point? honestly. why not throw Egnew on the field and see what is there. 5-8, season is over. what can it hurt? bringing in a guy for 3 weeks seems like a waste at this point in the season
What are threads that make you want to dry heave for 250, Alec... What does dude even look like? He looks like a stoner from Avatar...He'll fit right in.
Dog and Pony show to make it look like they are hard at work trying to improve our roster. Specifically the WR corp. It comes across as an act of desperatation to try to convince Ross that they are leaving no stone unturned, no matter how small. Its a sham. I hear a lot of criticism directed at Ireland around here and deservedly so. However he does not deserve all of it alone. Our rookie HC shares the responsibility of this dismal season. Ireland is at fault for not bringing in new talent but is there any doubt that the talent purge of the roster was at the hands of Philbin. The lack of effort and poor discipline is coaching. The lack of scheming and finding effective ways to use the little talent he has is Philbin. Its his rookie season and hopefully he improves but he is not off to a good start and its nobodys fault but his own.
Not sure I see the same coaching issues you do. But, I would like to see Sherman get lots of points out of the offense this weekend. I can understand not lighting up the world against a great 49ers D, but versus Jax we should be able to get multiple touchdowns by this point in the season. It's these players' 5th month in this offense now (including training camp) so we should be able to run it pretty well.
Binns stood feet from me at Shrine practices the year he came out. He wasn't particularly explosive off the line of scrimmage, although it was slightly difficult to measure against the deep third, Cover 3 technique that the cornerbacks are instructed to play throughout practices and the game. What stood most about Binn was his size, the loud hands once he caught passes and how often he was yelled at for not executing the assignment. I recall repeatedly Binns getting criticism for his first move upon receiving the pass, which was often opposite of the way the ball came in. (If ball came to his left, he went right. Coaches didn't like that. "Follow the ball!") The criticism didn't die down and Binns went undrafted.
I wasnt commenting specific to 1 game. Im looking at the totality of the season to-date. I do not feel as though Philbin has made the best choices and team has not been adequately prepared each week. Im not defending Ireland here but I do believe Philbins coaching is making him look worse then he is. Why bench two of you starting D line when the ball is being run down your throat? Why do you bench Bush for 1/2 a game over a fumble when his play was needed? Thats just two examples of poor game time decissions but there are plenty more to point to. some are game time and some are pregame and even preseason. He has made many mistakes as our HC and when you listen to his pressers its like he is more interested in CYA then he is about identifying the problem and explaining his solutions. Just to be clear I am not saying Philbin needs to go. I am saying he needs to improve if he is going to stay. He isnt getting it done.
For all I care, he can go left, right, forward, or back after the catch if it's an actual reception by a WR in the endzone. lol
So.... we need someone that can stretch the field, and instead we sign a guy who "doesnt have a second gear"... Thanks Jeff! Thanks for another clone of the WR's we already have that are pretty unimpressive. Should add a whole new dimension to the group. Like it matters... there's what, 4 games left in another loosing season... yay.
So you admittedly have no problem with this actual WR, or the guy we cut. Your feelings on this mainly revolve around the other moves that Ireland may or may not have made in the past.
You really expect us to get a real threat at receiver this late in the season? They don't grow on trees. I understand people want Ireland gone, I really do... but it's non sense to be up in arms about a bottom of the roster waiver claim in week 15.
Nobody is up in arms. It is what it is. At this point, its just fun to poke and prod the supporters. I would think by now most people would realize half of what I say here is sarcastic......
Yeah, and definitely don't say anything critical about trading our best WR for a pair of 3s, then see him go on to have his best season to date. Yeah, but he may get suspended. Yeah, but he threw our incumbent QBs under the bus. Yeah, but he didn't fit Philbin's offense. Yeah, but he is a ticking time bomb with mental problems. And, don't say anything critical about trading our best corner the 3 previous seasons a week before this season, only to see his less talented replacement be lost for the season after 3 games. Just don't criticize Sir Jeff because he is smarter than any of us.
Well there should be alot of banning go on around here. Jeff Ireland is the source of alot "baiting" lately. It goes both ways. Just trying to have a little fun.....its not like the Dolphins are providing much of it on the field.
