BTW, you question whether I know basketball..yet I picked the Knicks by 20.

    Doesn't that answer your question?

Dunno, but I rather enjoyed watching the Knicks throttle the Lakers for most of tonight's game. Felton setups for Chandler were fun to watch. Every play seemed like an easy layup for Chandler. What's the word on Anthony?

Its pretty impressive from what their defense looked like a year ago. Going out and getting AK, Shved, Bud, and Cunningham will do that. We also have Malcolm Lee who has been playing some damn good defense but I think the report was he hyper extended his right knee so he might be out for awhile. Likely Rubio will be playing so it should be a really fun game to watch.

Ok, I hadnt read anything on it and regardless hes still playing soft. I misread that man, he doesnt have the desire to be great like Kobe or Lebron or Melo. Hes soft as charmin the last 2 years. Kobe still works hard, I agree. Hes having one of his more efficient seasons in recent history as well. Even Artest does most nights.

How D'Antoni ostracized Pau Gasol so quickly is a question only he can answer. My problem with D'Antoni is the same as it was with the Knicks: he only knows how to coach to his system and not to his players strengths. Gasol cant stretch the floor enough? Since when? That guy has been knocking down 16-18 footers for much of the past 10 years. The only difference is D'Antoni would normally use him as a 5 and get smashed even worse defensively just to run his offense smoother. He did the same thing last year with Melo just in a different way. Carmelo was always able to play within an offense and D'Antoni did to him what he also did to Jason Richardson to a lesser extent which is turn him in to a spot up shooter.

I picked the Lakers to represent the west at the start of the year. I promise you that coach is miserable. The first step to getting back on track is firing that man and hiring someone, anyone, else. Brian Shaw, Jerry Sloan, Phil...any of them. Pringles is terrible. The guy made the best scorer in the NBA in to an inefficient spot up shooter. A good coach like Mike Woodson has him playing the best ball of his career. See how this works. Start a website. Call it D'AntoniSucks.com and send it to Dr Buss. Too much talent on your team to be this bad.

Melo is day to day with an ankle sprain. Theyre calling him questionable right now for Saturday vs Cleveland.

Oh and the Knicks ARE STILL undefeated at home so far this year. Coach Woody is making it work. If he wins Coach of the Year can we rename it Woody of the Year? :pointlol:

Well he has a point but he shouldn't be *****ing about his contract at this point. The problem is Love was drafted with McHale running things (also got Pek) and Kahn is saving that max 5 year for Rubio the guy he drafted. The problem with that is Love is arguably the best PF (Worst defender?) in the league and if Love walks chances are you wont be able to keep Rubio.

Love needs to mature and be leader its something he isn't at this stage in his career he does a lot of whining on the court (seriously watch a game and he will ***** and moan over a no call while his team and opponents are racing down the court 4v5. If the team doesn't convert you have Cherry picking love already down there). I think Love has some fair concerns with how Minnesota is run from a owner/GM stand point there is much stability and lots of missed opportunities (drafting tournament wonders).

I think there is cause for concern with how the relationship is with Glen Taylor and Kahn. Taylor loves Kahn (not sure why) and his remarks about Love are pretty mind boggling (doesn't think he is worth the max because he can't carry his team to the post-season). Also when Minnesota was making a run at David Lee if the Wolves got him they were going to trade Love so I think Love has been handled wrong by the organization and I can see him leaving if things don't shape up in the future. We have some time before that happens and things are looking up Kahn with the help of Adelman has really turnover the roster with solid players still missing someone that can be a threat from 3. Wish Minnesota got Courtney Lee but can't get them all.

All in all though I think Love is pretty sincere about staying in Minnesota and that he wants to win here its just up to the FO to add the right pieces. My fantasy was landing Dwight Howard because of how well he fit the team.

The Knicks are a better statistical defensive rebounding team than Miami, you keep referencing "chuck and pray" wich we all know is hater talk....it has to be. The Knicks get good looks because they have smart ball handlers who find the OPEN guy.

You claim the Knicks have a soft defense, and yet they rank 12 spots higher in ppg allowed. The Heat? Are in a tie with the LAKERS at the moment allowing 99.5 ppg.

You just keep reaching, and I'm forced to keep smacking your hand away.

Carmelo certainly is taking better shots, but what appeals to me thus far is his effort on defense. The 2012 Summer Olympics turned a light bulb on for Melo, being around winners and watching what they do to win games has went a long way on maturing Anthony.

The effort on D has been better and I think the improved stamina has helped. He dropped 15lbs this offseason and originally I thought he may wear down at the 4 being down to 225 but so far so good. He's said he took a lot from his friends Kobe and Lebron in terms of seeing how they prepared for the Olympics. I want that Chip so badly for the Knicks but for him as well as I thought a lot of the criticisms hes taken the last year and a half were pure fabricated BS.

Well if the Knicks win by less then 11 thats fine.

Chris Copeland starting at the 4. Hes played well when hes played and supposedly been great in practice. Knicks going with offense over Crazy Eyes Kurt tonight.

With 'Antoni I think he just didnt buy in and decided to play one on one basketball, so the criticism may have been justifiable.

And being around two friends who are winners all summer helped tremendously I'm sure. Also don't downplay his being married as being critical in his development.

He definitely didnt buy in to what Antoni was selling but to be fair Antoni turned one of the top 2-3 scorers in the league in to a standstill jumpshooter no different then Jason Richardson had happen to him in Phoenix and no different then hes doing to Pau Gasol. As I've said before he alienates players who dont fit his system and these are just a few examples.

Well according to Adelman before the game he commented that Rubio would not play in the 2nd half in the back to back games. So there is a chance he might not play in the 2nd half vs Miami which would be a pretty big let down.

WOW, I just noticed you struck out on all counts in your post. stay away from stats buddy, you sound foolish when you quote what you don;t understand.

Heat is tied for 16th in Def. Eff with? New York. and Both Miami and New York are behind the Lakers. Knicks allow 102.3 per 100, Heat allow 102.4.

The tell tale sign though is this...Strength of Schedule. Heat has played opponents with a -0.73 in Eff. Diff. Knicks played a SOS of -1.41. So those ratings are actually worse.

I really am the wrong guy to argue stats with.

Did you wait until the Heat beat the lowly Wizards to get updated stats? As of my post NY had a better def rebounding stat and a better ppg allowed.

Is what it is, where u been?

BTW...you have to look at Rebound Rate. Overall. If you just look at Def. Reb Rate, you have to adjust for pace, and that makes things worse for your case. Get it? (Even though, by Def. Reb. Rate it is by .1, non-adjusted)

Anyway, I am done giving tutorials. From now on, if stats get quoted, make sure you know what you are quoting.

and yes, the Knicks didn't rebound last year (16th), and they are rebounding worse this year (28th).

Newsflash. They can't rebound. I am not coming off the mountain with the tablets on that one.
