It's just a rumor....but these are the type that I see and understand and can appreciate the value in return but at a significant risk to a segment of your offense.

The players in return are valuable - no question, but losing Ginn, Jr impacts WR and Special Teams. I just dont think the math adds up for him to be included in that scenario.

Wait and see approach...but have to agree with CNC66 on this one....that is "if" the rumor becomes reality.

i think before we completely shoot down this rumor, we should look at weather Ginn is a Parcells guy. i'm not just talking draft but is Ginn the type of player he wants on his team?:confused2:

if not, then maybe the possibility is more real.

I really can't fathom this. We have absolutely no receivers other than Ginn and Wilford and now they want to get rid of one of them. Why? I know we have a lack of a defense but you need talent on both sides of the ball. You take away Ginn from our team, your taking away our most dynamic player (Ronnie not included) and biggest deep threat we have.

I have been behind every move that this management has made except the ZT one. Ginn may not be a "parcells" guy but the guy can play. We invested a first round pick in this guy only a year ago and even if you weren't there, I think you could see the talent level the guy possesses. I really don't know how to react if it went down or was true.

Special Teams alone says you dont make this move....heck ST may be our most productive and consistent unit going into 2008 with the improved blockers we have picked up to help open holes for Ginn!

Exactly. With all the moves we made for ST this off-season, you would think that they made them to help Ginn be affective in that part of the game.

I agree and think there are an awful lot of great fans of other teams on this board. It just seems like lately some have been tip toeing up to the line of trash talk. Maybe I'm just being over-protective of my beloved Dolphins...

It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense...our WR corp isn't exactly an area of strength. I would think we'd want to keep what little talent we have there. Also, the salary cap ramification has to be pretty prohibitive.

Probably the only negative I can think with Ginn, is his ability to block for the running game. I don't really remember seeing him do it, but because of his body type, I'm assuming he isn't/won't be that great at it.

Still, if a trade's coming, I'm crossing my fingers that it'll be Hagan instead of Ginn.

Wow is all I can say about that deal...I think it's pretty one-sided to Dallas' favor...They get a top 5 DE/OLB, albeit long in the tooth and only for one year (of course a change of venue and more wins could resolve that issue once he's in Dallas) and a young and coming WR [#9 overall pick a year ago] and we get an ILB that hasn't shown much but might fit Tunaland's system, a disgruntled OLB/DE who's looking for more money and is at least two levels below Taylor as OLB/DE's go and a safety, who has spent the last few years riding the laurels of his first few years in the league who is a liability in pass coverage (arguably our weak link in the D was well) ??

Where is the value in return for us ??? Even if Carpenter turns out to be a beast inside, we still lose our best defensive player and best offensive player from a year ago ???

I don't see this as a good trade for Tunaland to make, as it is stated above...

Because we're not interested in throwing the ball further than 10 yards on the few occasions we call a passing play.

This has the smell of realism.

I think at some point Parcells and Jerry Jones will make another trade, probably after training camp starts after they've seen their new players better.

I seriously doubt either JT or that family guy will be traded though...

Those aren't players I think Dallas would want or need anyway...

In the end, it doesn't matter if it happens or not. If Bill Parcells is making a move I suggest the fan base and player personal shut up and listen. He transformed the Giants, Patriots, Jets and Cowboys into winners. The Jets were 1-15 in 1996 and 9-7 in 1997. Anything can happen.

Enjoy the ride Dolphin fans. Parcells will turn around your franchise even if he's there for only two seasons. Miami will compete for a playoff berth in 2009 or 2010. The young core is already there with Long, Beck, Merling, Bell, Crowder, Satele and a few others. Book it.

Taylor is still here. And I don't recall Ginn saying hes open to a trade and ready to get to hollywood so it's not the same kind of scenario.

We would be fools to make that trade that the original poster was speculating on. We have 2 legit WRs, why the hell would we trade one of them for positions we have a lot more depth at?

One thing to keep in mind is how much of a hit we would take if we traded Ginn. Wouldn't we be on the hook for quite a bit of bonus money if we traded him?

But we put feelers out for him to be traded.

But I agree, if you look at the first page of this thread I said it makes no sence being we have no depth at wr.

I know it's only a rumour but Roy Williams is a liabilty in coverage, Ellis is 33 and Carpenter is a bust. Don't like it.

If they replaced Demarcus Ware for Ellis...we may have a deal.

Well the reality is, he's going into his 2nd season and showed some glimpses last year. Remember, wide receivers rarely do anything in their first seasons besides some really special ones (Randy Moss and Colston, although he's not necessarily special). No way in hell do we trade our best player, Taylor, and our #1 wide receiver, Ginn. Especially for an old *** linebacker, a middle of the road safety who blows more coverages than jenna jamerson has blown *&(%. Not to mention a bust of a linebacker.

Right, of course its based on hope when the guy is only going into his 2nd year and has only seen limited time at WR. But, that doesnt mean we havent seen a lot of potential and good things from him. He def met my expectations for him skill wise. His route running also looked a lot better then I thought itd be. He should have every chance this season to breakout.

As for that trade, it really does make 0 sense. I really dont think its legit (no offense). The only player on Dallas that really is worth that value is Ware. But like we said, we have 0 depth at WR and we wouldnt get a decent one back from Dallas so I really dont think it could even be considered. Not to mention the signing hit from Ginn which Samphin already mentioned.

After the LoBook trade I started a thread musing about Ginn being considered as tradeable.... if the 'smashmouth' guys running the offense didn't like LoBook in their system, they might not have a ton of love for Ted Ginn either.

Anyways, it wouldn't surprise me if he were moved. I like Ted a lot, and draw similar Terry Glenn comparisons.

I also recall wondering why Ireland, in his post-draft and UFA press conference was talking about the added value of guys as returners, as if it were important. When I said it could be because, again, Ted Ginn wasn't an ideal fit for these guys, and they might consider moving him, most people said the F.O. was merely creating depth and competition for the sake of depth and competition.

That may have been true, but depth and competition also allow the Front Office to move people like Ted Ginn while plugging the likes of Bess or Parmele, or whomever in as returners (I'm sure I'm missing a FA acquisition sometwhere).

I think Ted is special. He has amzing speed, soft hands, is smart and a hard worker. I would take a Steve Smith, Ted Ginn, Terry Glenn etc. any of day of the week. Especially over an over-rated safety who is poor in coverage (Roy williams), a first round pick unable to crack the starting lineup (Carpenter), and a guy I've heard the team doesn't want (Ellis) though I can't even remember the reason now. I think it was because he is getting old. Of course, relative to Parcells, he is still a spring chicken, I guess.

To give up Ginn AND JT for that would be horrible, imo.

Then again, when we (me included) support Parcells we always tout his cohesive 'vision', the 'character' of the team, the 'type' of guys we'll have. Well, he may place a premium on attitude over talent, so get used to losing some athletic guys in favor of some tougher guys over the next two years.

Welcome to the new Dolphins Football. lol.

Get ready for jokes like this:

In the official Miami Dolphins handbook, there's the following entry in the "T" section of the glossary:

    Touchdown [tuhch-doun] -noun

    1. Football. The act or instance of kicking a field goal for three points.

The reality of the situation is that Ted Ginn progressed very well throughout the season, and showed flashes of his potential and talent and caught just about every ball thrown his way. Isn't that all a WR can do? And that is a very REAL reason to have HOPE. So I'd say you're partially right.
