Makes you wonder if Egnew was even in the plans for the 2012 season at all. Taking a player that high (3rd round) who you know isn't going to play this year is a bit of a mistake IMO. And do you think Ireland was fully aware that the coaching staff wasn't going to play him? Egnew said in a recent interview that he's happy Ireland still has faith in him. An odd quote at the time. Signs of dysfunction between the staff and front office?
Has Pinkel had a bunch of particularly talented TEs who didn't succeed in the NFL because they weren't smart enough to grasp an NFL offense?
I am not asking that he be a star player in the NFL. I just think that TE is an area of need on this team and he was drafted to come in and compete for a job. The negative view of Egnew by the teams offensive coordinator in preseason, plus the fact he has been inactive this entire season, tells me all I need to know about his ability as a TE in the NFL. If you are okay with the 78th player taken in the 2012 draft being inactive on game days all season, that would explain why you also accept the mediocre play of this team so easily. You would think that the GM would have an idea as to his blocking ability before he wasted a third round pick on him. I don't see Egnew being a member of the Dolphins next season when the regular season starts.
In other words, he's too dumb to play? What did we do this offseason? Corner the market on dumb receivers? Did anyone give Egnew and Ocho any kind of test, especially knowing that Ocho had been unable to pick up the playbook in New England?
You don't see many players being a member of the Dolphins next season when the regular season starts. You are pretty consistant.
I crapped on him pretty bad last week in my "Panda's Pittances" post...He should go for 100 yds, 2 tds
I'm not sure what all the histrionics are about. It doesn't look good, but it's too early to call him a bust, and even then, so what? You're going to have high-round busts in nearly every draft class. We just seem to have more than our share of them.
Meh, we caught the blowback from Ocho's ****ty marriage. I wonder if he's jacked it naked in San Diego yet?
From what I read it's not a blocking issue due to abilities or skill, its an issue with his body strength and not being able to sustain blocks. That would seem like something that could be corrected with hard work. If that is true then he is a rookie and can certainly beef up unless he is just not willing or motivated.
I am so damn disgusted about the eggnog I bought at Safeway the other day. It was partly my own fault because I did not read the label as usual. Ahh, vanilla cinnamon eggnog, I thought, sounds delicious. I am not really into celebrating this commercialized pagan ritual holiday that 98% of the country celebrates on Dec 25, but what the heck a little eggnog would be good. So, I have just about finished off the entire quart, when I take a glance at the ingredients, and there it was...High Fructose Corn Syrup. The worst damned crap the food manufacturers push onto an ignorant public. Usually I read ingredient lists like they are the holy grail, this time I slipped up. But damn it all anyway, can't they make something as basic and traditional as eggnog without poisoning the consumer with their ******* High ******* Fructose ******* Corn ******* Syrup????
Well, Kellen Winslow Sr. But that was before Pinkel But understood with the likes of Chase Coffman, Martin Rucker, and now Michel Egnew. Am I forgetting anyone?
Do you know what the deal is with him in terms of our FO? I know he was a height-weight-speed guy, but do you know if it was Ireland or a local scout that was particularly high on him?
i agree with this injury situation we have, an inactive egnew would be a disaster, if he can't even get on the field now, although the evaluation process has begun some weeks ago, i don't know
I've tried a lot of different egg nog, including a lot of premium ones from high end stores. I like the publix egg nog the best, weirdly enough.
No bad products but it's still strange to me that their egg nog tastes superior to all the fancy pants egg nogs (non-alcoholic).
Considering how few wins this team has had over the last four years. They need to replace about 80% of the roster over the next two years.
Paul, Paul, Paul...my naive young friend... You can go ahead and believe propaganda put out by the Corn Refiners Association. Gee, no conflict of interest there. I'll go ahead and continue to listen to people like Dr Joseph Mercola.
I've never seen a bakery in my life, at any age or married status, that even remotely reminded me of a strip club.
I like how the Egnew/Eggnog thread has become purely an Eggnog thread and yet we're now openly referring to Egnew as Eggnog. The thread has done its work.
As for the TE who is known as Eggnog, I'm a little more patient than most of you it seems. No matter what he does these last two weeks, plays or does not play, or at what level, I'm not going to call him a bust yet. I'll give him an off season in a professional weight program, mini camps and another training camp. Then, and only then, if no progress is made by him, would I consider labeling him a bust or wasted pick.
He's an absolutely play now with Bess OUT, and Hartline QUESTIONABLE or hindered by a bad back. Need as many guys capable of getting open and catching the football as possible.
