I wonder if Marshall is a top 3 receiver in the NFL and Vontae Davis is still better than any cb on the Dolphins. .....Oh yeah, they are

BM made no sense. On a team that was desperate for a #1 receiver they let him go for some magic beans.

Oh and by the way, however jokingly or seriously this thread was intended, bottom line, both trades were bad for Ireland. Both players have proven to be able to have success with other teams. Both landed Ireland less compensation than payed. Both players are happier elsewhere. Irleand doesn't have a good image among NFL players and these trades don't help.

Vontae was on a.Johnson all game. Made a few nice plays on bad passes but was still beat for way over 100. No Tds though. They must have thrown at him almost 20 times.

If you think those were bad trades and your in support of those me 1st jackasses than that's your deal. You have no concept of how a team operates if you think new coaching had nothing to do with the gm having to move 2 of his own players. And to somehow think a players value holds or even appreciates with bad play/ work ethic issues is silly too. There's also a team element to this whole thing.

Vontae got hosed today. Made 2 INTs, but he got owned every other time. He has played badly all year.

Forget Vontae, all you need to know is the Colts made an impact with every draft pick this year. That should be the knock on Ireland, that other teams coming off worse seasons could make great Free Agent signings and draft picks like the Colts did and turn it around.

The other knock would be not replacing Marshall with someone who maybe can't get all the yards he can, but can make spectacular catches especially in the endzone (something Marshall rarely did), which the pressure will be on to do this offseason.

Vontae will have 5 takeaways each season but that seems to cross off the 10-12 mental lapses he has each year.

Vontae Davis this season has been the same as Vontae Davis every season he was in Miami.

Who really did watch it? Everyone's all quick to jump on the bandwagon after 2 ints... Sounds nice, but he didn't look anything like a shutdown corner. Good ole' T 'buck maybe. 2nd round seems fair for a 2nd corner. Espescially one as "special" as him.

Always digging for that next nugget to pin on the scapegoat. Somewhere there's a big board the fireland campaigners have, that gives him a negative every time Marshall makes a catch.

Accepting your premise for the sake of argument, and combined with what the pro-Ireland crowd tells us about Davis' play not being very good or impactful, does this mean Jeff Ireland should be faulted for spending a first round pick on Davis?

Davis has been TERRIBLE all damn year, has two interceptions and all of sudden we should all be lamenting his loss? **** off.

Marshall was a cancerous headcase here, good riddance.

To me the fact that we missed on a 1st round pick in Vontae Davis is the worst part of the Davis & Marshall Sagas. We need to be hitting on those first round picks. We can't afford to miss.

Oh no, everything negative that happened from 2008 through 2010 was all Parcells' fault, but every good move or draft pick is all to Ireland's credit. ;)

Marshall is the same player he was when Miami traded for him. Most everyone here were giddy as schoolgirls when the trade was made. Now that he is gone he is a me first jackass.

Typical Ireland lover response. Completely whiffing on a 1st round is a slight negative.
This is the reason why Ive stopped arguing about Ireland. Blind faith.

The ideal thing to do would have been to not need to trade your first round player for a second round pick.

I wonder if Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis could together spell "cat' if you spotted them the "c" and the "t".I don't think either are that big of a loss.
And I can't spell that great either.

I saw Jimmy Johnson's "A Football Life" lady night, and it was great. Two things I took from it: "retire early with money" and "never take/trust a dumb player"

You cannot teach intelligence, and if someone is dumb, you cannot reason with them.

Brandon was no dummy, but Vontae was a stump. In hindsight, we shoulda kept Marshall but Vontae may have been a good move.
