...and I was field goal from being exactly right. oh well. My bad.

I fulfilled my bet and am still very optimistic about this coming year.

I think Tannehill proved he's the future. I think Philbin proved he's the future as well. We were just a few points from being a 10 win team with a rookie QB & coach. Hell, we were in the playoff hunt until last week. I don't think it will take much to get those few points more next season. We are not nearly as bad as many will have you believe. We're almost there.

I thought 4-12 after watching preseason. Tannehill and the defense surprised me though. I can't wait for the draft and free agency period

We will contend for the playoffs, but I don't really see us being close to a Superbowl contender unfortunately.

I thought 6-10, so they went slightly above my expectations. High point was the Seattle victory and low point was the Tennessee lose at home.

I'm pretty sure I called 7-9 w/a ton of optimism built in, but I'll have to go back and check.
to your last point, I think "we're almost there" to become a wild card playoff team. I think we have quite a ways to go to get to be a contender. It's more than just getting the talent at our empty spots (although that's the next obvious step). it's getting the team to finally stop turning over, settle down and just play with each other. develop that rhthym that we need with Tannehill and his current/future weapons.

No. If we had made one field goal the game would have been over on the spot, then and there. An improved turnover ratio means we could have won more games. That one was a missed kick in OT, plain and simple.

Not really, since 6 of the 13 INTs came from 2 games that were blowouts.

I expected 6-10, but going one win better to 7-9 just means that nothing's changed. A plateau is not an upward trajectory.

We have a nice chance this offseason to get out of this W-L Groundhog Day, at least. Fingers crossed.

Once again, the kicker was put in a terrible position of making a long field goal in OT because the QB threw a pick six in regulation.

I think we definitely have an opportunity to improve a considerable amount.

Consider what the Colts did this year and compare it to our 2013 offseason.

They resigned a veteran proven star WR in Reggie Wayne - We might be able to do the same in getting Greg Jennings.
They acquired plenty of talented weapons on offense through the draft - We are in position to do the same.

We now need to have the same success they had in the 2012 draft. 4 Offensive weapons selected by them have contributed and are looking to have huge upside. ( The 2 TEs Allen and Fleener, WR Hilton, and RB Ballard)
If can have similar success, meaning hit on 3-4 offensive players and sign a veteran WR like Jennings, we could have a similar season like the one they had.

"There" being where ? I don't know about you, but the two teams I saw today are so far apart its not even funny.

As far as I am concerned we are way, way far away.

The goal is supposed to be, to win the Super Bowl. There was only one team on that field today that looked like it wants to play in that game.

My timeline started last February. Coming off a 6-3 finish, with talent, elite players, and quite frankly, more talent than this years # 1 seeded Denver Broncos, I expected more. My disdain was truly built and brewed in the time period you are omitting. That February and up to the draft, where we had that Giant Ginger hurdle, that prevented guys like Peyton from simply taking meetings with us in Miami, and coaches like Fisher from signing.

Look at the Broncos, look at us...and Manning is good friends with Jeff Fisher who won more games this season with the Rams, than the Rams won in the previous 3+ years. We didn't need to be 7-9 again. You want to bet 100 to 1, that we got ourselves a bourgeoning dynasty though? Jim Harbaugh is off to the better start. Give me the #1 seed and a shot at the superbowl this year...anytime... over more sub .500 play and a crap shoot at a future.

Gods, and I remember having this conversation with my buddy who is a Bronco fan last winter. How Manning = an instant contender. And how we had a shot at him if we just cleaned a little house. Christ, the guy LIVES IN MIAMI!!! We didn't get it done though, with him being reportedly uncertain about our unstable front office. That's where my timeline and disappointment lie...not months after this season's fiscal calendar started, and Hard Knocks. We didn't have to be under .500 again.

After the first game Tannehill had a + TD/INT ratio the rest of the season. Keep searching for the issue.

The Colts had the #1 pick and a GM who acquired playmakers. So, yeah. Gonna be tough to have that type of offseason.

    I think I gave a range of 6-10 to 8-8. I considered anything over 5 wins gravy.

This looks like a playoff team next year to me.

I am not counting the #1 pick. I only pointed at the other picks which they hit big in plenty of them. The GM thing i understand, but that was not my point.

Between February and August, when I saw how much WORSE we got, yes I am surprised we finished 7-9. But again, my memory did't start in August. And at the end of the day, 7-9 still sucks.

Once again, Sport, if we had made the Fg we would have won the effing game, yes or no?

    Which is why i said:
That is not wrong, made up, or crazy. The fact that you want to come onto a thread that I made to eat my crow good and proper, proves the team isn't as important to you as your epeen.

I made at the time a bold prediction that took the last game to prove wrong, and in reality was only a missed field goal from, then came on here and took my lumps for.

    What did you do?

And it's still an improvement from last year. All with a rookie coach and QB and no playmakers on offense.

Now, let's improve even more next season.

You just stated the part that scares me. Getting playmakers. I like RT and Philbin. Philbin showed me twice he is a good coach, coming off of long week/byes. Sparano always lost after a bye. Philbin dominated. And RT played well, but our FO failed him miserably. Look at what Garcon and Wayne and others did for their rookie QBs. We did not set this kid up properly, and we could have. Its the same ole story.

And all that said, if we did things differently, we could have swapped fates with the Broncos. I am waiting for that to be "disproven."

I know Ireland gets a lot of **** here. Some is certainly deserved, but there is no way we don't go all out for playmakers this off-season. Philbin and Ross will demand it.

You never have anything. You have the same regurgitated routine in all of your tunnel visioned aspects of your existence, be they life, football, politics. You argue one way, blindly and to the death.

Prove otherwise Francis. Prove Manning loved Irish for me baby.

And NJ educations, on every level, are superior to Florida's. Do you really want to go down that road?

This is by far the stupidest thing you've ever typed. I never said he loved him. I said to you, prove Ireland was the reason Peyton didn't come here. If its such goddamned common effing knowledge it shouldn't be too difficult, even for you. Do it now, or piss off. You made a statement, you back it up.

Man I'm not to excited. The last glimpse of our team for 6 months and they again **** the bed hard.. Tanny looked horrible. Indecisive, overthrowing, and plan like a 4th round pick... Hope he gets better or were done..
I feel if we would have just sucked a little more last year and took Luck or RG3 with the same exact team Tan has we would be in the playoffs.

Its stupid to you, which means in actuality, nothing. Because you are shot. You expect a quote from Manning saying "Irish is a **** sucker, **** Miami!"??? If you can't read between the lines, I'm not going to waste my time reading for you. Its all there in the history and time line of Mannings off-season.

None of the intimate details are ever carved in stone, other than losing. That is always the only truth that is leaked. Losing.

And again, You Prove otherwise Francis. Or bugger off.
