They better work their asses off this offseason..

The team didn't look better at the end of the season as they did earlier in the season, Philbin talked about ending on a high note, didn't happen..Poor performance by all three units...not sure what that means, but it's time for them to look at the tape real close and find out who was bustin their *** and who wasn't, and if they weren't, get rid of'em.

The team imo needs a good, overall skilled, downhill style, running back..I would be walking out of this draft with Step Taylor, Montee Ball, or Andre Ellington..

Bush over the course of the season has showed me he's not the guy to design this offense around, Ryan Tannehill needs a running game if he's gonna make it, and Reggie cannot provide that consistency, I saw once again, hesitancy, and that's all the detail I need to see to know its not gonna work.

If he wants to return punts, play on 3rd down, play a bit more receiver, we can talk, but if he's not happy with a reduced role and a fair salary, then A tough decision will have to be made.

What the hell is goin on with this freakin oline...where do we begin, to tell the story of yada yada yada...I haven't seen anything resembling consistency or cohesion all season..

Man, were really gonna have to think about spending some resources along the front, I mean it's pretty much in total chaos at this point...they couldn't pass block, the couldn't run block, what CAN they do together well..so many questions, so little resources..We simply can't afford to neglect the weapons dept anymore..spend what we have left after signing Jennings on some competition.

Hartline was the only bright spot, it sounds funny, but I saw some explosiveness when it comes to how he hits the breaks, the dude goes from 60 to 0 really fast, it's how he sets corners up to get deep..

Paul Solai has put on probabaly 15 to 20lbs, he's overweight again, and it's pathetic that a grown rich man who plays a game, can't take care of the tool that set his family up for life..only if we all could have that one oppurtunity...maybe Cognito, Jerry and Solai can all shave their heads, put 'em together and make fat asses of themselves...dedicate yourself to your craft will ya.

You simply cannot play Odrick on the outside anymore..there was 0 pressure today, and he's a big part of that, unacceptable from the Dend position, he needs to play at his natural position, inside, where he can work in close quarters with his hands, cause that's pretty much all he's got when it comes to pass rush..

I think it's obvious that Clay is not the answer, Eggnog is not Publix quality, Fasano needs some damn help, any help... Tyler Eiffert must be part of a plan in the draft..even if you gotta move back into the first to get him..

Draft Dion Jordan with the 12 th pck..

Coyle and his defense did not play well against Brady...Brady didnt even break a sweat, in both games..this is a vet defense, somethin needs to change, they looked overmatched, it may take two years, but perimeter players, D'end, outside linebacker, Corner, need upgrades.

The Qb needs to get a lot better, weapons will improve his rating, but it won't be enough to win it all unless he improves a good deal...

What I've been seeing, and what's got me worried, is just the lack of quickness to maneuver within the confides of a pocket..The lack of feel, athletic decisiveness, and clumsy slow reactions to pressure is why I can't have the confidence that some of you have, also, the inability to change platforms with his motion is also a weakness at this point..He ran one time on a called play...where the hell is his brain..why does it seem it doesn't have the chip that tells him when it's time to make a play....Gotta make plays, not just throws, better not dick around with your pretty lady this offseason..better get quicker, you'll be 25 years old, don't rely on your arm.

Binns, Matthews, Moore, only one should be on this team next year...Cause the receiver unit should look something like Jennings..Hartline..Bess..Woods/ Bailey/ Austin/etc..

Where were you Rashad Jones?..better not get a big head this offseason, you ain't that good, yet. They cut us up the middle of the field all day..That's your territory no??

I love the offseason, it's a chance to rebuild our team with the right players, and one thing I'm pretty confident in, Philbin will help Ireland in that dept..I think Character and self motivation will be critical elements in the type of players that we can win with.

East west shrine game in a couple weeks y'all..the offseason begins tonite, see ya in the draft forum.

..eh. we're an 7-8 team that went into Foxboro when they were pissed and desperate to win for playoff seeding. pointing out the bad performances in this one game shows that we have a ways to go, but not as much as people think. Pay Dustin Keller the money, maybe he wants to jump the sinking ship in New Jersey. use the draft picks on a DE that can rush the passer, let Starks walk and move Odrick inside. use the money we save to go after someone like Jennings or Bowe. use the 2nd round pick on a CB. those 4 moves puts us in a hunt for a wildcard spot. scoring big on the other top picks will just make us better.

Tad bit too negative IMO. This was Supposed to be a 5 win team. Tannehill was supposed to be riding pine all year.

We won 7 games, tannehill started every game.

I think your also a little too invested into the fitness of certain players. We drafted soliai because he was enormous. That was kind of the point. He could be fitter, yes, but I'm not certain it would help that much given what his job is.

As for tannehill not taking off and running. Good. (IMO)

Tannehill needs to work hard in the offseason to improve certain aspects of his game.

I think he need to get stronger in his lower body. Work on the touch on his long throws. Mostly though, he needs to work on his pocket skills. Movement in the pocket, manipulating defenders with his eyes, using more pump fakes.
If he can improve significantly in all these aspects, and the GM is able to get good playmakers for him on offense, we're going to see a much better offensive product next season.

Coyle's Defensive calls are great he just needs talent for them to be effective. The only players I see on the defensive side of the ball thats worth keeping is Cameron Wake and our DT's. Everyone else can hit the road, we have got to have the worst DB's in football and our LB's for about three years now have been unable to effectively cover TE's. My opinion we need to wipe the floor with the defense and give Coyle his pick for what he wants to do. On offense... well its simple we need 2-3 WR's that can catch and demand respect out there. I can live with Thomas Bush and MIller at RB but we need to get that Oline beefed up. Tannehill effectively made chicken salad out of chicken **** this year and that give me hope for the young guy, I just hope he sticks to it and trains hard and getting even better this off season.

    Thats my 2 cents

Did you see him miss the shoestring tackle on the back?, he was inches short of making a play behind the Los because he wasn't quick enough, by a foot..he's got a lot of extra weight that he doesn't need, and put on weight as the season progressed..sorry but it's true..

I was going to write my thoughts on THill right before I read your post. I agree 100% with what you said about THill and what he needs to work on. I think he will (just seems like that type of guy) and I think he will get better. We, as a group have to keep in mind that THill has about 35 QB starts in college and the pros. I think we are going to see a vastly different player next year.. and I think it is going to be for the better.

Sure, but most of the time, that isn't his job.

His job, for the most part, is to be a gigantic fatass whom demands to be double teamed because he's so damn big. And he does that.

Guys like wake have to physical specimens. Guys like soliai have to be immovable objects. It's not soliais job to make that play, it's dansbys/burnetts.

His job is to fine tune his machine to the best of its ability, he gets paid to perform, if his body is not at it's best, then he's not reaching his potential..whatever he's been doing, isn't good enough, change something about yourself, like your fat gut..that might help in the game of football.

There is going to have to be a lot of decisions made about this team before and after the draft. What players are worth hanging on to and where is the cap spent. Probably the biggest reality check for this season and how it ended is how far we are from where we need to be. As much as we all want to feel we are close and just need to fill a few holes, I believe we realize we have more holes than we hoped. This is certainly the opportunity for Ireland to prove he is a good GM and can be creative and pretty much perform magic in making our roster better than it currently is.

Bush is hesitating because he has nowhere to run. He hesitates upon seeing a solid wall in front of him. No holes to hit.

Just a case of the 2nd youngest team in the NFL getting schooled by a veteran team with a lot to play for who got reemed by Brady to play better.

Should be a lot of good tape for the front office and coaches going in to the offseason from Sunday's game. I'm glad it was a game the Patriots needed and they played their starters, it's important that we didn't enter the offseason thinking we're closer than we actually are to contention.

In particular, certain players on the defense clearly weren't up to the task yesterday and didn't show a lot of appetite for the game. Was a bit worried about Dmitri Patterson too, he has a reputation as a me first player, and somehow I got the feeling he essentially tapped out early on. I could be wrong.

Quote from Brian Hartline after the game,

“You have an opportunity to build something and get back to 8-8. But I think it kind of spoke that maybe some guys might have cared more than others."

It goes a bit deeper than this (esp. for pocket skills) - the top issue for QBs along with accuracy is field awareness / reading defenses. The more he knows and the more quickly he is able to process the information he sees, the more accurate he will be and the cooler he will be in the pocket with his feet. The mind calms down a bit as understanding increases - and so too then confidence increases. Of course, the OL play is big also.

I am not down with everything DJ points out but I do think there are a ton of needs on this team - as far as talent - esp. on the offensive side of the football. The reality is, the mistakes made in the past are haunting. You can't blow that many OL selections / signings without it having a ripple effect on talent accumulation in other positions. Now, they still don't have a solidified OL. Doubt they will next season.

That's why so many of us have worried for 3 years now about the "talent evaluator". He's just not good enough, and keeps making mistake after mistake, and hasn't really gotten better. Some make the mistake of thinking his picks have been better as of late because they are starting now. Not taking into account they are barely mediocre, and start for us now because the previous players taken weren't even NFL worthy.

RT definitely needs to improve. several times I kept saying to my buddy, that clock has to go off. My buddy kept saying true but RT is putting it on himself to make a play, NE was asserting their will on the defense that he didnt want to give up on any play. IMO our offense anything that we mustered was because of RT.

The offseason is critical, need to hike up your pants and go to work each and everyone of them, especially Tannehill. time to decide what type of qb you want to be, one that gets by or one that makes it happen.

The biggest problem is the OL, RT didn't have time to do anything, he was getting hit from all sides, like my wife said Brady is got enough time to mix a martini RT not enough time to drop the ice cubes in the glass.
We can thank Parcells for what was inherited and we need to accept the rebuilding process.
All the rooks that did well they had solid OL paly and solid running game, the Fins had neither.

What surprised me was how both our OTs got completely destroyed yesterday. Garner in no way shape or form seem ready to play and was beaten badly, very badly. Martin, although I think the kid has talent gotta say, he was whipped and tossed really bad. John Jerry is a fat blob, again. Not sure if it was the cold or what but those three guys really were bad. Had no problem with Pouncey or Incognito. It was pretty evident both were attempting as much damage control as they could handle and even that was not enough. Beliechek threw Wilfork over on our right side most of the game and He chewed John Jerry up like dogmeat. Remember several plays where both of their DEs were hitting Tannehill at the same time. Not that Tannehill was at his best either. He looked lost or something yesterday. Honestly believe the kid was freezing his nuts off the entier game. Anyway, we need some help and I do not want to hear throw Martin in the weight room, thats complete bunk. Stanford is one of the better programs in the Nation. I cannot believe they did not concentrate on weights and such. Although Tannehill has been running the ball he is by far no Andrew Luck. Martin did not have to block all that much when you have a QB that can release the ball, acurately, in about a half second and actually can feel the pressure and move around the pocket. Tannehill cannot do either. Please, do not give me the crap he is a rookie. People act like these kids just came out of the womb and know nothing.

Sherman; HIS PLAYCALLING F*&^ING BLOWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For those willing to time progress with a sun dial got news for you. Sherman suks at playcalling, has sucked at it and will continue to suck at it. You can time Sherman with the Mayan calendar and he will still suck at the end of that ime.

Like I said, would love for an idiotic team to offer him the HC job but on the other hand who the hell is really out there as an OC.

While having 46 million in cap room is nice, having 35 percent of your starting roster up for free agency at the same time makes me pause.

Your going to have to sign a considerable amount of your own players, that will drop the cap amount significantly, ones that you don't resign, you have to find better players, otherwise, the team will not improve, this is not necessarily an enviable situation, not with 35 percent of your starting roster being up for free agency.

We need to use the money it would take to sign Jake Long to sign players who can make a difference.

Martin has to go into the weight room regardless of what he did at Stanford.

The right side of the OL needs to be replaced. I see little difference between Columbo and Carey last year and Gardner and Jerry this year.

Incognito is not a mobile, athletic left guard.

    Gotta love Pouncey.

We need athletic linemen in tip top physical condition who can quickly arrive together at the point of attack and execute their assignments.
