I think that's absolutely true. This is Ireland's make or break off-season.

Oddly enough, the biggest problem with Warmack is he has the potential to almost be too good to draft IMO. In 5 years when he hits FA he could command $10.0M/year, so there's a chance you'd be using a top 12 pick on a player you might not be able to keep around or even want to at that price.

Warmack will quite conceivably command Carl Nicks type money or greater in 2017 after Warmack's rookie contract is up and he becomes a free agent. That's roughly $10 million/year. Can you say for certain you'd want to allocate THAT MUCH of our cap space to a guard after we'll likely have already made Pouncey the highest paid center in football? Keeping Warmack & Pouncey together from 2017 and beyond, you're looking at $20 million/year just for a center-guard combo. That's insane. Hence my point of Warmack potentially being too good to draft as crazy as that sounds. If I'm gonna pay someone $10.0M/year, it better be a position of bigger impact. Just sayin. We'd be better off with a pair of good guards (as apposed to elite) who cost us significantly less so that our salary cap is managed better.

You convinced me, lets draft the crappy guard that will be easy to resign in 4 years...

    1: Pass Rusher
2;2;3;3 WR, WR, TE,DB in no particular order.

Also dependent on what they do in FA.

I see you've chosen the childish approach. Good for you.
So I guess the only alternative to a future $50 million guard is a crappy one? Well in that case, yeah, screw all those core positions that have a bigger impact on the game and let's grab that guard. It's not like it's our only high 1st round pick anyways, right.

Why not draft a great pass rusher or any other valuable impact player at a core position whom you WILL want to re-sign for big money when he's a FA?

You still haven't answered my question. Would you be ok with allocating $20 million per year to a pair of interior linemen?

Sign Greg Jennings. Don't force ourselves into a corner by over drafting the receiver we need. Signing Jennings would give us a mountain of flexibility at the draft table. We could truly go BPA with all our picks.

People can bang the "skill position players needed" drum all they want but we have many other needs, some I rank on par with the need for skill players.

I would not be offended, as some would be, to taking an offensive lineman. We need to shore up the ****ing position. We need an edge rusher, badly. Odrick can be kicked inside and Starks can walk. I'd like a true middle linebacker, Dansby can take a pay cut and move outside or take a walk. We need a corner. We need a safety, Chris Clemons is rubbish. We need a playmaking tight end because Egnew is an unknown.

This team's issues will not be solved by plugging in a few playmakers, it goes deeper. I break the ****ing bank on Greg Jennings though, make a splash.

A major makeover is coming. No need to waste time arguing. This is Jeff's baby and if we do pick #12, I'd guess he trades down if nobody worthwhile falls to him.

I'd endorse it, actually, due to our needs and the bevy of late-first through early third round WR's and safeties.

That said, he may fix a lot in free agency and move up for a Te'o. It'd be nice to have a linebacker who can make picks, rush and tackle.

Point is it's all just speculation...thought provoking, titilating, awesome speculation.

Even with Jennings I still believe you add a WR. Even if Hartline is re-signed.

I think M Johnson is an option at DE in free agency from Bengals, He's familiar with the scheme we run and plays DRE, gives us some flexibility in the draft, Would also like Jennings at WR

I agree. Sign Jennings, re-sign Hartline and draft someone like Bailey in the 2nd round and I'd be very optimistic about our WR corp for 2013.

Thanks. It's a 14 year old Jaguar XKR, as there's no way I could afford a new one! And do like the older version anyway.

While I hate seeing the Jets picking ahead of us, I love it at the same time. I actually hope they keep Ryan and Sparano as IMO it would almost guarantee they would suck again next season. Ryan I don't see being released due to him taking them to the conference championship game twice. sparano should be gone, but will likely get away with staying on as he is teflon and will blame it all on Sanchise and Tebow.

Love the fact they are going into the offseason in a must obtain a QB situation.

Sparano will be gone by the end of the week, at least from what I have heard from NY & national media. However Ryan is expected to stay. Sanchez & Tebow also to hit the road. At least the experts believe this.

I do like they need to go QB and this class is so, so weak. If Barkley is gone before they pick, I don't know where they go. Free agency is also extremely weak for QB's. I am guessing Alex Smith and Matt Moore are the top names. They may be forced by circumstances to keep Sanchez, but I think Tebow is a definite goner.

****ing Sparano!...Sounds like a sticky thread on a Jets board.

Sparano is such a cockroach. God help any fan whose first exposure to head coaching in the NFL is that stat geek. Remember the time he started the season off by quoting "Gladiator". The complete mind-bleep paradox ended up being that he was trying to win the crowd by simply saying that he was aware that he needed to win the crowd. I remember thinking, "then win the crowd, fat man...win the crowd." What a schmo, I'm still convinced he saw Parcells sodomizing someone, somewhere...

So, now that we know where we will be drafting, does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on who we should target at #12? More specifically, do we target a wideout at #12? Or, do we maybe look at OL or some other area of need at #12, and target a WR in the second? Or third?

    Thoughts?

In a vacuum, I'd lean more that way. Given the offense I think I'd prefer a well-rounded generalist.

After watching the CFA bowl last night, we need to get Deandre Hopkins. That guy is awesome.
