Exactly. While we had Brian Hartline and Davone Bess. And if Ireland was any good we could've had both Wayne and Hilton.
If you're looking solely at the WR position, then yes. In regards to the entire offense? I don't agree.
What? They averaged damn near a Touchdown more per game and they ranked 10th in Total offense, while Miami was 27th. They are not even close to being as efficient/netter than the Colts offense.
Having two tight ends who have a combination of speed and playmaking ability out in route, isn't a bad thing either, rookies or not, both tightends are very talented.
Obviously this was coming, congrats to those who claim victory in that. However, if its the right decision, with all this cap room, and early draft picks remains to be seen. Given his track record, and the current state of our roster, I'd say no. I hope im wrong.
But anyway you slice it, Indy has far more talent on offense than we do. QB, WR, TE all go to Indy. We win at RB. O-line is probably a wash. Maybe a slight edge goes to Miami.
Net YPA was essentially the same. Yds per play was essentially the same. In the case of these two teams, Miami's cumulative numbers are affected by the fact they had less possessions. A lot of that goes back to simply having bad luck recovering fumbles. But in terms of efficiency, both teams were very close.
The Ireland defending gang gets to jump up and down and say "look at how right we are" for one more year. I'm not going to kick and scream about it. It's going to go one of two ways. 1.) He hits it out of the park this offseason with the mountain of resources he has, improves the depth, adds playmakers and sets us up for a nice little run. Or 2.) Totally ****s the bed, setting the franchise back 5 years and gets his *** fired. I'd much prefer #1.
Avery, Wayne, and Hilton are miles better than Miami's combo of Hartline, Bess, and no one. I wouldn't consider the Dolphins line to be anything better than average either, in spite of the resources poured into them. Two spots will be replaced at minimum this offseason. Fasano may be better than Allen or Fleener individually, but the Colts have the advantage overall. Our RBs are indeed better, but they more than made up the difference. They're better than a 2-14 team last year, and they're better than us now.
I wonder how much better Tannehill would have looked with a playmaker like T.Y. Hilton. Too bad Jeff did not get a chance to scout Hilton.
New Year tomorrow. Thought everyone here was in the same boat anyway. Whats with all the bickering? The season is done and Ireland will get another shot.. Another shot at what,I don't know but we don't have a say. This will be his last hurray if he can't get it together in 13',so save it for then.
So you're saying the Colts were more Lucky? Pun most certainly intended. And you can cite fumbles, but this is the second year in a row the Dolphins have had an amazingly low fumble recovery rate, in addition to this year having the fewest takeaways in franchise history. If one of those things happened, we could chalk it up to bad luck. Both of them happening? More than coincidence. This team lacks playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. That's clear.
If you think that's what the point of this thread is you're incorrect. It's to share the news and watch the ovaryactions that follow. I'd like to see this Ireland gang you and others speak of though bc most of the people you'd probably lump in to it are of the, "He's been okay but this offseason and next year are make or break" variety.
Indy was -12 in TO's. Miami was -10. There are no excuses. Indy did more. There is no massaging over a 4 point difference in PPG.
I'm not in the "this offseason is make or break". I think he should have been fired a year ago, with Sparano and the whole staff. He has not done a single thing, IMO, that warrants more time.
Hand on there, they also played a last place schedule and have the Jags twice a year. We did not score enough, plain fact, however to compare us to another team also means you have to look at both situations comprehensively.
In fairness to Jeff, FIU is like, a whole 30 minute drive from Sun Life Stadium. I mean, who wants to deal with that traffic?
Sure if you don't count Wake, Soliai, Starks, Jones, Dansby, Burnett, Pouncey, Tannehill, Bush, and Long then I agree he's done nothing.
They did have better luck. And as easy as our schedule was, their schedule was even easier. Fumble recovery is pure luck. Creating turnovers isn't entirely luck. But the Miami Dolphins were 2nd to last in the NFL in opponent fumbles recovered. The two are related. This is the second year in a row that this happened. I'm not sure that constitutes more than a coincidence? Who do you think the most prolific fumble-recoverer in the draft or FA is??????????
Yeah but some of those guys were brought in when Parcells was around. And we all know Ireland had nothing to do with anything while Parcells was here.
cough...cough...they beat us. All these Schedule arguments don't matter when that little nugget exists.
Listen, you're free to focus on ppg if you want. IMO there are much better indicators of offensive efficiency available.
and none of them suggest that Miami even approaches Indy's prowess on offense. Especially when you take into account the rest of each team.
Not as soft as theirs, I'd bet they played the worst defenses statisticially of any playoff team. Our troubles centered mostly around a Rook Qb and no #3 Wr and a leaky secondary.
no..I read just fine. You said very clearly that he only had "one offseason" to upgrade the offense. You are just learning how how hard it is to defend the indefensible.
