I'm with Allen. I don't think he is the best WR to come out in the last two classes. I don't even think he is the best WR in his own class honestly.
I wouldn't mind Milliner, but I don't think we should consider Banks at 12. He started the season off great, but got beat quite often towards the end of the season. The tie breaker over Tampa Bay is huge because one of their biggest weaknesses is Cornerback. That being said, they showed last year that they are willing to move up in the draft to get the guys they "target." I wouldn't be surprised to see them leapfrog us and grab Milliner right before our eyes.
This offseason is going to be a roller coaster. It seems like we will allow Starks to walk, try to resign Jake Long for half of this years salary (I don't think there is a chance he resigns for that), resign Sean Smith at all costs or franchise him, that's not even mentioning Hartline. I consider myself to be a logical person when it comes to the draft, but I swear to Shiva if we take a DT or a bigger DE I will be ****ing livid.
Reality is that Jake Long's contract demands likely have not dropped below $11 million a year. And those won't be his demands, that would be what he settles for. Ya know, a big part of why Miami got shut out today for the first time since the Chicago game in 2010 was because the tackle tandem were beaten like drums throughout the game. You have Jake Long in the game and you've got A LOT better left tackle play (anyone who says differently is kidding themselves, IMO)...and in turn you move Jon Martin back over to right tackle and maybe you still don't quite have good right tackle play, in fact it's pretty bad, but it's not Nate Garner bad. That's an improvement at two positions.
If we do sign him I really would want it to be a 2 year deal, 3 years at most. I am really scared that his body is breaking down and his play is only going to continue to get worse, as it has been.
I don't think there is a WR worth a top 15 selection. There isn't much separation for the number 1 spot to be honest.
Yes, yes he is. He and Arthur Brown are such excellent football players and yet they're in similar boat with Stedman Bailey, marginal size dragging them down.
I agree with this. Keenan has a tendency to pop up on his breaks and he will drift a little bit as well. He will tip off where he is going. The guy's feet in the open field are very impressive though. He legitimately runs like a running back when he has the ball in his hands.
I think Nate had a horrible game… Martin just played poorly. Do I think Long would have played better then Martin yesterday? Probably, do I think Long should be getting re-signed to play LT for the Fins? No way, the guy had a horrible year for his standard. In a contract year to boot. Longs body is breaking down and there is no getting around that. You clearly see his level of play fall of over the past two seasons. At this point I would much rather see what Martin can do with a year in an off season conditioning program. I think Martins issues is that he is not strong enough. He fixes that he is fine. He doesnt we wasted a 2nd round pick. What do you guys think of Brennan Williams, Lance Johnson and Eric Fisher as possible 2nd round OT's? BTW, as bad as our OT's played yesterday the OG's are really no better. One last question…. What about having Jake Long move to RT (is that even possible for him)?
In this draft it is not a bad idea, the talent is sort of bland and there is little difference between a lot of these prospects. I'd trade back for a #2 in 2014 unless a guy just goes JPP
The real question though is it worth what you have to pay? Does the difference warrant the expenditure? I don't think so personally.
Hah, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read that. Wagner & David. This is one year I wish we had half a dozen late 1st & 2nd round picks.
To bad Al Davis still isn't around. We could have probably gotten their 1st & 2nd round picks for Odrick
I know he is an inside backer but I really, really like Kevin Minter from LSU. He is a hell of a player.
BVP is reporting we do not get the 6th from the Colts b/c VD did not play enough. Ah, but the drama of the 6th rd! Damn you Vontae!!!!!
Some draft position notes from the weekend's playoff games. (Hopefully I've worked this out in my head correctly!) - The Bengals loss yesterday means they are guaranteed the 21st pick in Round 1. - Viking lost and will pick either 22nd or 23rd depending on the outcome of the Skins game. Skins lose and they pick 22nd followed by Vikes at 23. - Colts look like they are going to lose today with 3:46 minutes to go in the 4th Quarter. Meaning they pick either 23rd or 24th. -Skins lose and they pick ahead of the Colts. Hawks lose and they pick ahead of Colts in round 1 but more importantly they rotate for Round 2. Best case scenario for the Fins and the Colt's 2nd Round pick is to have the Hawks lose today so they'd rotate behind the Colts in Round 2. You factor in that Cleveland used their 2nd Round pick in the supplemental draft and the Saints may still lose their 2nd rounder for Bounty Gate making the our Colt's pick #53 overall. If I remember correctly, teams are slotted where ever they exit the playoffs yes?
That Seahawk win should put the pick we acquired from the Colts at #54 overall. Since Indy was the only 11 win team to exit the playoffs this weekend they will not rotate up in the draft with anyone if I understand the rules on slotting playoff teams correctly
