The question is, How involved will he be with the Draft? He's certainly not going to be scouting anybody extensively (but boy would it speak volumes if he shows up at ANY players workouts) so how much decision making will he hold on draft day.

Anyone else notice Jimmy Hitch****'s name was ***** out?

And for the hundreth time, Parcells left the Patriots because they wouldn't give him more power to draft, his Jet's Drafts didn't really pan out.

He is not going to be the GM, he will be the GM's boss, as well as the Head Coach's boss.

I would be interested in seeing a year by year comparison of the Dolphins drafts compared to Parcells showing how many games the drafted players actually played in.

Yup and you can knock 2 of those out because he didn't have any power in New England and rumor has it Jeff Ireland did most of the heavy lifting.

What's big about Parcells is he's a "big picture" guy. He knows how to surround himself with the right people and what he wants out of players. Which is something Miami desperately needs.

Actually, this is worth looking at:

There is not a DT in the group, plenty of speedy types, but no DT's.

Glancing at the total draft history, there has been 7 DT's taken, and only one really panned out Jason Ferguson, and he was a 7th rounder.

Matt Ryan come on down! Either him an OT or a DE. That's Parcells. I'll be interested to see who has the power here. Very interesting development

I say Chris Long will be the pick and I would be very happy with that and trading down seems even more likely to stockpile picks and draft Vernon Gholston at a reasonable spot who is a Parcells player.

i think, without a doubt, that parcells is an excellent talent evaluator.

i think whoever he hires as GM, will share the same philosophy and will have the same ability as parcells. not to mention that parcells will most definitely be giving his input often.

I'm thinking Gholston or C Long also but Jake Long might be a possibility and I dont think Beck is a Parcells type of QB. Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco are probably more along the lines of what he wants a QB to be. Ryan's turnovers will be a concern with Parcells so. Knowing Parcells this is how I see his draft board right now

    1) Gholston
    2) C Long
    3) Ryan
    4) J Long
    5) Clady

John Ireland (if he decides to leave Dallas) will likely take care of the draft along with Parcells if he decides to leave Dallas for the GM job which will likely be open because Mueller I think is a goner.

I agree with you on the draft board and Matt Ryan is the type of quarterback Parcells would draft but I see an offensive or defensive lineman going number 1 and Joe Flacco a real possibility in the 3rd round. It is likely Beck won't get his chance to be a starter in this league and personally I don't he is going to work anyway.

one thing tho is he drafts a LOT of defensive guys. A LOT. tahts a big sign already...and a lot of the RBs he drafted are LATE round draft picks...go figure.

I think if we dotn trade out dorsey/long might be the guy just b/c of his history. he has taken MANYYY DE's

I and many others have been saying it all along, bring on the Tuna!

And we are very well aware that the Tuna will probably bail on us in 4-5 years also. SO WHAT. By then he would have done the same thing he's done to every other franchise--built stability and winners.

With the Pats and the Cowboys he did not have the final say. And what did all those Jet draft picks get him? No more than what Wanny got us.

WOW no credit to the Tuna

well the bottom line is this
he took a losing pat's team to the dance and changed the team from 0 to hero

he took a losing jets team from basement to 1 game away from the show.

He took a losing dallas team from 0 to back to back appearances in the playoffs and most likely on there way to the show.

Miami has not been to the playoff in I forgot how many years.

If you're going to give credit for Romo, then it goes to Sean Payton, not Parcells.

No he is right the credit goes to Parcells
that is the reason why he left dallas
he wanted Romo to start from the start and Jones wanted him to go with Bledso.
after a long struggle with Jones he finally got the chance to start Romo and they had a good season down the stretch and was 1 play away fromt eh NFC title game.
Tune signed him and had him play and now the kid is taking off in Dallas

Sean Peyton knew of Romo because they both played Qb for Eastern Illinois University (At different times of course). He was an undrafted free agent in 2003.

As for Parcells vs. Jones about Romo, you probably missed all the Cowboy fan's rants about Parcells reluctance to start Romo and sticking with the over-the-hill Bledsoe. Cowboy fans were wanting Jones to intervene.

Here's a part of an article that shows what it was like at the start of last year:

....Coach Bill Parcells defended his longtime quarterback Monday, insisting that plenty of others were to blame for a 24-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He said Bledsoe will definitely start Sunday night against the Washington Redskins and that calls for him to turn to Romo are premature.

However, Parcells' loyalty to Bledsoe has its limits. By qualifying most of his comments with "right now," he opened the door to the exact speculation he was trying to deny.

Maybe that's why he got so testy about it.

"I told you I was getting Romo ready to play. And at some point in time, I'm hopeful I will be able to play him this year," Parcells said. "Now, I don't know when, where or under what circumstances. But that shouldn't be the story for today because it's a non-story."

Asked about it again, Parcells said, "You write what you want, I'm going to explain it the best way I can. ... I think you're trying to get me to say at some point in time I'm going to get Romo in. That time is not now, OK? Is that clear enough? Do you want me to repeat it?" ..."

Thanks to Kraft wanting Glenn over a d-Linemen Parcells wanted, the Draft goes the way tuna wanted, and the Pats do not even come close to the big show. Glenn was awesome his 1st year.

Then watched them go back to the basement the following year, and then bailed on them when they really needed him.

One year they look good, the following they look bad, up and down season until he took off. And for those that are giving him credit on the Romo pick, if he knew Romo was going to be that good, why did he wait to take him as a free agent? Could have lost him to another team, and if that is how he works, then there are players that we are going to lose, because Tuna does not pull the trigger fast enough.

The best draft in NFL history belongs to the Pittsburgh Steelers...hands down. I can't remember the year, and frankly I'm too lazy to look, but in the late 70's the Steelers drafted five hall of famers in ONE draft! Think about it. Five guys in the hall from one draft. Absolutely insane.

You're thinking of the 1974 draft. Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth, and Mike Webster. It's actually four, but it's still the only time in history anything like that has happened.

    Thanks for the clarification!

Point being that while some of those drafts were definitely good calling them the "best ever" is hyping them up a bit more than they deserve.
