I understand ur point. I also think based on the last two years, there is no excuse for his performance.
Like I said, if you think he sucks based on the last two years fine, I disagree a bit (I think last year sucked draft-wise was excellent non draft and this year was excellent draft-wise and sucked non-draft.) But Parcells was a huge part of our ineptitude as was Sparano. For me, a GM should be gauged by how well he finds players for the team's system and how well he manages the cap. There was no system last year to judge by and so far the wheeling and dealing parts of a GMs duties don't seem horrible.
I know your general claims. Thought you might like to back them up. I was specific. But you claimed "abortion" Which is hyperbolic and cute but really just done to mask the lack of anything specific in your argument.
You want "specifics" on Ireland's failures in Free Agency and Roster Building? Do you watch this team? Do you follow their offseason efforts? Well, if you answered yes to both.......voila.
Maybe you should have paid attention to the 1,789 Ireland threads before this. There have been examples galor put forth by me and many others. You asking for "specifics" now, comes off as trolling. I don't take it as a serious request at this point.
SO Philbin Traded Marshall / signed Nanee and Ochostinko? Why don't you just list what you think Ireland is responsible for, because it seems that some of you just want to assign every success to him and every failure to everybody else.
Have had better things to do, today I apparently don't. Me asking for specifs to your incessant hyperbole, is not me trolling. It is me asking for specifics. You could have given one example for the sake of argument instead of the above. You do this whole song and dance instead. I think you crave the attention.
I have delivered the specifics too many times. It's boring. If I craved attention, I would do this dumb *** song and dance of posting yet another laundry list of Ireland's failures.
Agree a million times over with the bold statement there, its amazing. Apparently on all decisions that he's personally made he's batting close to 1000, but if it was a bad decision it was Bill Parcells or a guy in the Dolphins mailroom or maybe JLo...
Philbin wanted him gone, absolutely. Same with Ochocinco and Davis. Even Omar Kelly, Marshall's self appointed public defender, says Marshall is such a head case he has no business being on the roster with a young QB, because he'd ruin him. You want to nail Ireland to the wall for camp bodies Nannee, and Ochocinco, minimum salary vets, fine. An abortion? Get a grip. Failing to swing a deal for Donald Driver? That's fair. Not holding out for more for Marshall, or panicking when he got busted in NY. Fair. Not drafting a WR in rounds 2-5? Fair. But let's not pretend Ireland Ireland traded Marshall for Nannee and Ochocinco.
when you turn over the offensive line as much as he does, and devotes as many resources as he does to the unit, and it actually regresses? That is the very definition of a front office abortion.
one of my oldest tricks is to post another laundry list? BTW, one of your oldest tricks is to exhaust other posters with the same debates they debated 1,000 times before. LikeI said...BOOOOOOOOOOOO----RING
Much bigger than that poll indicates. Most of the fan club pretend to be "neutral" but given the time and keystrokes they spend defending him, neutral is not at all accurate.
You're so bored with the debate, why post in a thread about it? Seriously. You're not bored with the debate, don't lie to yourself. And you didn't have to give a list, just one example for the sake of argument. But you pretended I asked for a list, and threw your tantrum over it. I haven't spent my time in Ireland threads making laundry lists, I've been too busy I was actually just looking for an intelligent response. One you are perfectly capable of giving when not behaving like a man child in love with his own jokes. Completely agree with the O-line argument. It has been a disaster. Though I do give Ireland credit for Jonathan Martin, drafting a WR there may have been the sexy pick. But Fins can now spend Jake Long's money on a WR in FA.
They replaced Marshall with two 3rd round picks. They hoped someone would step up. None did. Nannee was a camp body that no one else could beat out.
He paid 2 2nd rounders for him. Marshall turned around an was a top 2-3 receiver. Terrible move. he never replaced him with anyone of equal talent. Never even tried.
I post in threads about it, to backup anybody that wants to share in their disapproval of Ireland's reign. I hardly threw a tantrum and a lot of people are in love with my jokes. Jon Martin is nothing to hang your hat on. Jury is still out on him. That is not Mike Pouncey, who is an actual home run by Ireland.
I love some of your jokes. The funny ones. Martin is no home run, and as you said jury is still out. But it should be recognized that it wasn't the popular pick that many GMs make once on the hot seat. I'm no Ireland lover. But he should get credit for not mortgaging the future to save his own ***.
Off topic: Section there's a REALGM basketball forum with an Oklahoma City poster named Fallacy. He believes OKC to be God's gift to basketball. When you have time please join that forum and take him on in a debate. It would be amazing to watch.
They ban you INSTANTLY on Real GM. I got banned off of Boston's and New York's. The OKC forum is worse than those two. All you have to do is post a link to the NBA Finals results from last year and explain to him that God's Gift to basketball is whoever currently holds the Larry O'brien and we all know who that is. We also had a showdown game on Christmas Day rigged in OKC's favor and the same team that won the Finals, won that game. You post that...I guarantee that you will get banned.
The Dolphins overpaid for him. And they certainly didn't get value in return. He is worth a 2nd round pick. Ireland should have held out for more. However, don't fool yourself for a second that Marshall would have been as productive with any other QB but Cutler. Chemistry takes time, and those two head cases are on the same nutty wavelength. Secondly, Marshall is worse than a diva WR, he is clinically diagnosed with a personality disorder. Would you want to develop a raw young QB, the first the Fins have drafted in round one since Dan Marino, while Brandon is kicking and screaming for the ball? Of course they tried to replace him, and they failed. They were confident Green Bay would move Driver, and they were wrong. They tried to swing deals for Wallace and Maclin. Failed. I'd actually be okay if Ireland didn't even try to replace Marshall last offseason, failure is worse.
I think getting a QB is more important than replacing Marshall, as is shoring up the OL who's going to be tasked with protecting him. TBH I was in favor if going WR in the 2nd round and any time afterwards but Irish didn't do that. I assume he had his reasons and I don't think him being incompetent is one of them. Part of that is the whole BPA thing, the other is that I didn't see a WR who was remotely close to Marshall available in the entire draft, especially after the first couple of rounds.
We've established that you disagree with the move. Did you have anything else to add or is stating the obvious your main priority here?
