Bro, you gotta do what you feel is right for your family no matter what anyone says. Look at your financial situation which is first and foremost. ONLY if you can afford to live here and not eat ramen noodles 24/7 should you come back. If you can say "I can afford 1200 every month + expenses and have enough cash to save something in the bank for unforseen issues", then by all means come back. BTW, Here in Boca a few months ago I was checking out the rents and they were down to like 950-975 for a 2/2 in a great neighborhood. Granted you gotta jump on them ASAP but they are out there...heck I saw one place for 1,100 that was sweet... Anyway, again....just do what you feel you can afford in the long run (which is the most important thing) and what is right for you and your family...
Brotha I have been in your spot myself many times. In the long run you have to do what is best for your family. You guys will make friends anywhere you go, trust me. You and your wife are good people, its hard not to like you. I miss South Florida as well, but I would probably never go back. if I was in your position I would probably look long term where me and my family would be the happiest and best off. Education for little man long term is something to think about as well. Right now his future is the most important thing in the world to you, correct? Where do you feel he would have a better life?

It all depends bro...it all depends... For example, my brother-in-law bought a big lot and house for 75k a few years back over in South Carolina... We'd go there too but where are the jobs? At least when it applies to me and my wife (Real Estate Law) there's slim pickings up there so I'd rather stay here and get paid a little more, even though it evens out. Because if we do get laid off or semi-laid off (like my wife did awhile back) I want to know I live somewhere that I can find a job quick and not be hunting for 6-8 months. My wife found job(s) here in litterally a week. I am not so confident that would be the case somewhere like SC where the houses are cheap but the job market isn't so great.
