The best way to protect your QB is to get him wide receivers that can get separation from DBs.

And to get him linemen who can give him until at least five Mississippi before he has to unload the ball.

Course he might wanna get a little better at efficiently moving through his progression, too. He tends to spend too much time figuring out whether the first read will indeed be open, and then once he decides it won't be, there isn't enough time left for him to do anything else on the play.

Part of adjusting to the speed of the game is recognizing quickly, based on fewer visual "data," whether the first read will come open, and then moving to your second, and so on. Tannehill doesn't have that yet IMO.

Consequently he's more susceptible to being pressured, because he's still "figuring out" where he's going to go with the ball at a time during the play when veteran QBs have already decided.

These are the kinds of plays where, when you see the bird's eye view replay, you see him scrambling around after getting pressured, and you wonder why he didn't see "X" wide open earlier in the play. Well, he spent too much time on his first read! :)
