    Agreed.

These discussions never go well because every single person out there comes up with more and more changes.
At this point we have people suggesting no logo at all, just a letter and some now changing our colors to grey so they match the real color of some dolphins in the wild. (Do we have to go over how many mascots are designed to be scientifically correct according to nature? It's a sports team mascot for Gods sake. Not to mention our colors are Aqua and Orange and were chosen for specific reasons.). I'm just surprised people have not started the calls to change the mascot altogether yet. There's bound to be a call for us changing to the "Sharks" soon.... there always is.

If you have a logo that is accepted and liked by the majority of the fan base like our current one is, it's crazy to change it because chances are you won't hit that level of acceptance with a change.

Yeah, The Marlins are a perfect example of messing up a perfectly good logo. That new **** is terrible.

On top of that they turned the black/silver/teal into Clown colors.

Im not one to typically like lots of change either, but its pretty clear to me that change is needed. Our logo and unis ave only gotten worse as the years went by. I could buy the argument a little more if the logo and unis had remained exactly the same since the 60s but they haven't

Got the the part of Ross press conference about the logo. Just said yeah we will have a logo changed. They asked if the leaked logo was the logo, he said there was a lot of logos out there so he don't know what we saw. Which he has to be oblivious if the leaked logo is in fact the logo, because if that was the logo, you would know if it was leaked or not. So I think that was his way of avoiding the question. I wish the reporter had the logo printed and said, "is this the logo?" He said they are tantalizing the logo too so its not finished according to him, and as we all know by now, it will be showned by the Draft

This is lining up perfectly. On draft day it will be the logo of the dolphin riding a plane and then announce that #12 selection is a defensive tackle

    A number of reasons.

    1) I simply hate the design. It's an elegant design more suited for a redesign of FL's. Save Wild Dolphins License plates not an NFL franchise.

    2) I am a big fan of tradition. While you mentioned that the logo has changed over the years it has not changed conceptually.
I follow the if it isn't broke don't fix it line here.

    3) People are always going to want change just for the sake of change.
You're never going to be able satisfy everyone. So if you have something that has been supported by the majority of fans over the years you don't gain anything in changing it. If you do change a successful logo it better be a home run because chances are you will not garner the same Percentage of acceptance as the original. This revision is not at all a "home run".

    Just my take.

The more I think of it, the more I agree with Coral Reefer. I wouldnt mind subtle changes on the logo, but for the most part Id like to see it left alone. That logo is almost as iconic to the NFL as the Chicago "C". Miami just has too much history and legend behind that logo. Drastic logo changes seem to be more for teams with not much significant pasts like Tampa Bay when they changed, Or even the Denver broncos and such.

I have never seen a logo change for a football team when the "majority" of the fans didn't come out and say they liked the old one better initially. The ones I recall off the top of my head are the Pats, Broncos and Bengals. I don't see any evidence that fans want to change their team's logo for the sake of change. I see plenty of evidence to the contrary. In the case of the three changes above I heard mostly complaints from those fan bases about the new logo or helmet design. My impression is that comparatively a larger percentage of the Dolphin fan base has expressed some dissatisfaction with our current logo than I recall with those other logo changes. It's probably never going to be the "majority" since people tend to resist change, but IMO it's telling that we have annual threads about needing to change our logo. I would think that's a pretty big sign that there is quite a bit of dissatisfaction with our current logo design.

You have threads started by the same select few individuals annually.
That does not constitute a majority of the fan base being unsatisfied with the teams logo.

Also every fan base has sect of fans that discuss the issues of logo, mascots, colors ad-nauseum.... every single one of them.

That again is why it's crazy for the organization to cave in and change based on a small minority because it's always going to be an issue.
The topic isn't going anywhere if they change the logo this year. So Then what? Change it every year?

I respect teams that value their identity over the calls of fans that want to see scarier logos or color changes that match the gear they like to wear better. Just me.

This is going to sound ridiculous.
But this is just another reason Ross is an absolute terrible owner.
Tinkering, tinkering, tinkering with everything he can to make the team sexy and squeeze money out of the fan base.
Him having to but his "stamp" onto a classic logo concept (while a ridiculous one) is honestly just my tipping point with this egotistical maniac of an owner.

A team is made sexy by winning. I hate you so much Steven Ross.

The "Miami" glossy font is atrocious. Dolphin is too small, sun is to big and bright for the off-white. Gross. I like the new logo, just needs the eye.

Every owner has changed the logo and even the colors slightly... It changed in 74, 89, and finally 96 to the current "cartoon dolphin"... really a non issue for me.

The official leaked one looks better on the helmet, but I like it better with the tail down and an eye... regardless, we haven't seen the finished logo yet.
