Dammit! I was looking forward to not having to see the Islanders this season and only 1 more season til Brooklyn and maybe an actual NHL payroll. Ah well, more perpetual rebuilding. On another note, some douche bit Tavares last night in a game in Switzerland and was fined lol.
Good, NHL has a bit more contact then the NBA and the season was just to long anyway. Think about it, starts in what late September and runs through June?
Early June. Say what you will about the sports popularity in the states, but I still maintain that the players play with more passion and heart than any other major sports league. And as a long suffering Kings fan, I FINALLY get to see the banner raised. It was such a kick in the balls to win it and then have that moment seemingly lost for a year. The NHL really hurt themselves with casual fans right when they were on the cusp of making a breakthrough. Bettman's resignation should have been part of the agreement. He is the worst Commish in the history of sports.
I wonder how much revenue the NHL lost. The fact that this is the third time under Bettman's watch that there has been a lockout is laughable.
Atleast they got a ten year deal but yeah it's embarrassing. He has no clue what to do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You know your team stinks when players try and stay in the KHL even when the player and agent know theres an agreement between the NHL and KHL that doesnt allow players with contracts to go from one league to the other unless theres a lockout. Thanks for the reminder Lubimir Visnovsky!
I do enjoy non NHL fans coming into a thread about the NHL to throw a little gab. I don't go into the NBA thread to let anyone know I think the league/sport is rubbish, if you are not an NHL fan stay out of the NHL thread. Seems simple.
I went to my first game last year and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to becoming a fan this year. Hope you guys will take it easy on me if I sound stupid at times. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Seeing a game live is how fans become fans, it's a totally different experience. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Being a Canadian, I left the womb wondering who my teams third line center was and complaining about their powerplay. LOL! It also meant I could not afford to go to games because up here they are VERY expensive. I envy the NHL fan in some American cities.
Now I have to figure out if I want to root for the lighting or panthers. I'm going to be in south Florida this weekend, I may go to the season opener while I'm down there. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
So I got tickets to the season opener for the Panthers vs. the Hurricanes. We're sitting in the Duffy Sky Club which is all-inclusive food and drink, not bad for $65 a ticket. I can't wait.
NYI acquire Tim thomas for a conditional future 2nd round pick. #Isles GM Garth Snow: . https://twitter.com/StapeNewsday/sta...46087956926464 The move doesn't really put us over the cap now (as we are already over it). But, should the Islanders decide to trade some of their high cap hit players late in the season, such as Vis, Streit, and/or Nabby, they'll have the floor covered and won't have to take unnecessary salary back. Isles cant toll the contract since Thomas is over 35 but the Isles only give up the 2nd if they decide to dress Thomas.
Exactly why its a good move by Snow. This puts them at 53M according to Capgeek. Now if they feel like dealing Visnovsky or Streit for good prospects and/or a 1st they can do so without taking contracts back.
Not sure why, but I have an undying hatred for the Penguins. Always have. From the Super Mario and Jagr days and now with Crosby and Malkin. Pus, they have a little bit of Utah Jazz dirty play in them that they seem to get away with. First and last time I will ever say this, but let's go Buffalo!
As a Flyers fan, the Penguins suck. So do the Devils. So do the Flyers, but we're not gonna go there.
My ugly mug made it on NBC today during the second intermission of the Kings game. If I can attach the image, I will.
