You have no leg to stand on based on your Tannehill stance. Your two views cannot be rationalized. It has to be one or the other. Has to be.

Especially when there are so many fat over-hyped OLinemen for him to drool over.

    True.
But it doesn't mean you can try and get by with scrubs at a key skill position like Ireland tried to do this season.

Ireland didn't "try" to get by on scrubs, unless you consider Jeremy Maclin a scrub, whom Ireland tried to trade for.

I'm not sure how you come to this conclusion considering the 49ers & Ravens are playing for the SB, neither of which focus their offense around the oline. :shifty:

You can apply that standard to a lot of things, it still doesn't make it good or well-reasoned. It's really childishness.

    It's a passing league u dummy!!!

Flacco and CKap have no shot vs prolific QBs like Brady and Ryan. Lets face it, Defense and run game just don't get the job done anymore.

Until their defense shut the Patriots out in the 2nd half? Until San Fran shut Ryan out in the 2nd half. Good point, I noticed that too.

what was the time of possession in the 2nd half of those game? BTW, I am not disagreeing with you… good defense can take you a long ways.

BTW, IMO the Fins defense is good enough to win a super bowl right now, They need the offense to balance it out.

Not sure on time of poss, but it looked like Bmore was overplaying the short stuff and daring NE to throw deep and outside. I'm sure the wind had an affect but it's the same for both teams. I know u meant Bmore took control when they started passing but it was their willingness to run run run that helped to set it up. NE didn't have much of a run game and it hurt them. Sane goes for ATL. They blew 3 score leads in back to back games, that's hard to do if you're running the ball and not turning it over.

I like our defense too. I think we need to improve the pass rush and create more turnovers in order to take the step from good to title worthy. And I agree, if we can get our offense to just be respectable I think the D can do the rest. We're a lot closer to being the 9ers or Ravens than the Pats or Falcons.

I think we have a defense that is getting there, but we are still missing a good cover corner. We don't need Darrelle Revis, but just seeing the impact of Talib going out of the game last night, then New England's defense fell apart. IMO, you go up against the elite QBs, you need at least one cover corner to slow down the receiver and a very good pass rush to hurry up the QB.

this weekend showed that good QBs + great defense trumps great QBs + good defense. and while CKap has played "great" the last few games, I'm not going to call him great until he does the same thing next year (see Cam Newton last year vs this year)

A couple of 15th rnd draft picks and maybe a FA like Joe Horn and we're golden.

    Apprently not hard enough.
And then he decide to settle for Legadu Naane and Chad Johnson.

Effort does not always equal results. There are only so many WRs Ireland could have acquired and none of them were worth future picks.

I get that. But Naane and Johnson are pretty weak fall back options.
I think I need to stop posting in this thread before I turn it into a Brandon Marshall trade debate.
And I dont want to beat that dead horse anymore.

I thoroughly believe had CJ not gone full ******, we'd have been in the playoffs. We needed just one more option on the average pass play.

I wonder about that. Sure sounded like Sean Smith was covering CJ like a blanket in practice and what they showed on Hard Knocks, and we all saw how mediocre S Smith was this year against other teams WRs. makes you wonder if CJ would have contributed very much this season. granted, with our WRs, he'd contribute more than he did in New England, but I'd hesistate to call him an impact WR that would help us win 2 more games this season.

Its no so much about thinking he is an impact WR, its that he would have been average. We had less than average play at that spot all year, basically giving Ryan only 2 targets in the passing game. i think he would have been far better than Naanee/Gaffney which would put him into the "meh" category but still another target Tanny didn't have the benefit of having.
