    Well away from here
This so reminds me of what he said about Gibril Wilson, what two weeks later they cut him right? Or was it longer?

Bottom line is going by how Ireland talks, Egnew's a goner.

This clown also poo poo'ed Jake Long as an elite tackle today, when asked.

He was asked if Long was an elite tackle and his response: "Jake Long can play in this league."

Well, Jeff, its nice to know that you took a Guy that can "play in this league" over Matt ****ing Ryan.

That's quite a jump to conclusions there.
I believe Sherman has said the same things about Egnew. Pretty bold if you ask me. Not sure what the players are saying, probably nothing to imply what your spinning.
I guarantee I won't be " super-scared " if he starts to contribute, isnt he a 23yr old. project player ???:shifty: You guys are quite theatrical. Makes me start to understand WitchHunts.

I heard it. no context needed. He danced all over the place when asked about Jake Long.

Problem is that Ireland is so dumb, that he can't answer a simple question diplomatically.

On a team desperate for a TE, he couldn't break the lineup until the season was done. He couldn't even push Fasano to take some time. While I don't expect Ireland to trash him, don't feed me bull****. At least have the balls to call him out that he has to work harder.

Because they're negotiating with him. If Ireland says "He's elite and one of the best in the game", then Long's agent will ask for more money. That's why Ireland danced.

Here is how you answer that question:

"Jake Long has been an Elite Tackle in this league, he however, was not one last season." You can then elaborate, or not, about his durability issues.

That's how you can be honest and also crap all over him for negotiation purposes.

I'm inclined to believe Egnew is not destined for good things in Miami. There's a little too much pileup against him at this point. We all saw him in hard knocks. the kid looked dazed and confused almost every time he was on camera. Throughout the duration of the season, Miami signed other TE's because Egnew wasn't "ready." Then we have reports saying he's a ***** and might not make the team. While none of the proves anything, it's concerning...

But at the end of the day, what difference does it make?

Dolphins drafted Egnew. There's not much to be done at this point anyway. Hopefully he learned some things on the bench this year and spends the off-season in the weight room adding bulk. With his size, speed, and quickness, there is still hope, even if it's bleak. Like I said, much to do about nothing at this point. I'm sure they'll evaluate him again before the draft. And we still need a #1 TE anyway (Keller!).

Fasano being the only player really worth something after 5 years of drafting, acquiring, and turning over rocks, is not a good record, not being able to identify a good athletic development project that amounted to anything, tells me that he and his team of scouts have done a poor job evaluating..It will be real disappointing if he didnt get his eggnog at Publix.

  27. While Im not one to defend him you are being unfair here. He has had more sucess in the draft then just Fasano.

I have one complaint about all of this:

Get the young player on the field, during a game, and see how he handles it, and how he adjusts.

Ck posted some footage of Egnew actually playing, and he was open, THill did not go his way.

Which is fine, why not run a Te screen with him to see what he can do?

Seeing as though we are big on the "Player Development" portion of coaching....some of these players are going to need to be well...."Developed." If you cut every 3rd RD player you get after 1 season of being on your roster, you can't really call yourself serious about "Player Development."

Fasano is a pretty good TE for the run first offense we had here under Sparano, no? IIRC we got him and Ayodele for a 4th round pick. That's a damn good trade IMO. Clay was what, a 6th rounder who looks like a quality back up at the least. There have been several TEs who were brought in to block and play ST and of course Egghead hasn't shown much but overall I think Irish has done OK at the position.

Allow me to get u caught up w what's going on. Egghead had a rough first season. He was publicly criticized by coaches and unnamed teammates, he couldn't get on the field until injuries gave the staff no choice but to play him. You dont need a doctorate to surmise the obvious from that. A little common sense is more than enough.

Along comes some reporter to ask Irish about him, hoping to get another news worthy quote and give further life to the Eggs sucks storyline. Irish doesn't take the bait, and you think it's bc he's dumb? That says more about u than it does about the GM.

Kicking one of your own players while he is down is a bad idea on so many levels. It sets a bad example. It makes you look crass. It doesn't help trade, draft or contract negotiations. It doesn't help the player to get better or the team to win games.

Seriously, I wonder how you can be a fan of a team and then get so wound up when your team's leaders refuse to do stupid sheeit.

Reading them once is painful enough. Don't think I can handle a do over. Oh, you're criticizing Ireland for taking a guy who's made the Pro Bowl 4 times in 5 years. Genius. I would say that Long has been a borderline HOF player who fit the mold of a Parcells team to a T and that Parcells was the boss at the time of the pick but you wouldn't wanna hear that. I might say that Parcells' blueprint was a to have a caretaker QB who might not be a baller but just didn't screw up but you wouldn't wanna hear that either. I'd even admit that Ryan would probably have been a better pick, but that Long was still a good pick. Doubt you'd agree with that either. So we took Olajuwon instead of Jordan. Ish happens. It's not like we took Sam Bowie.
