Michael Appleton has officially left Blackpool to take the vacant manager's job at Blackburn Rovers on a two-and-a-half year deal.

I guess it would be wrong to have put it "at a minimum of 58days and we will take it from there"!

One of the funniest things I have seen on a football field in quite some time. The fallout on Twitter was epic

This is what the ballboy put up on his Twitter account before the game.

Who am I kidding? I am stoked he is a Milanista right now! In Italy doing a physical.

El Shaarawy / Balotelli / Niang will be a dominant front 3. Very potent attack right there.

On his day, Balotelli is unstoppable. But for some reason, he hasn't shown it since Euro 2012. If Milan can get his head right, then he is a steal at £21m.

I agree completely. Grabbing him at the price Milan did could be a steal. He needs to start to be happy. He is a prima. No hiding that. Hopefully he matures and realizes that him and El Shaarawy could be Italy's starting attackers for years to come.

    Live from the Internet.
I have a question for you guys.

I don't watch much soccer, only international play when the Russians play. I know the big names of the sport, but not much after that.

My question for you, is which soccer league is considered the best? La Liga, or the English Premier league?

I don't think their is essentailly a "best league" in the world so to speak. All leagues are unique and can be based on the personality of the country. For instance, the English Premiership is attractive because of the speed and tempo matches are played at. Its also quite physical and the fans demand noting but 100% effort and massive work-rate from every player. You will see many teams prefer more direct, long ball style of play than keeping the ball on the ground.

La Liga is technically, the best league as there is a massive emphasis on keeping the ball on the ground using skill and vision. Players are brought up with the ball at feet and will rarely resort to the long ball. The pace of the game is slower than what you would find in the English Premier League, but is played technically, at a much higher level.

The Bundersliga in German is perhaps the best all round league in Europe. The clubs are run with typical German efficiency, game are statistically the best attended in Europe and their is some excellent quality in the league also. Huge efforts have been placed over the last decade on developing technically talented players, which is paying dividends. Very strong league and if you are ever in German I would strongly advise attending a game.

Ligue 1 in France has some very similar elements to La Liga in Spain with regards to playing style, although it doesn't have the same quality of players in it. However there are still alot of young quality players in the league who usually move on to bigger clubs in Europe.

The Italian league I can't say much for as I don't follow it like I used to, but its having its problems at the moment with low attendances and gambling scandals. That's not to say their is no quality in the league.

Good summary emerald. I agree with the Italian corruption. I hate it myself. But, it seems many other countries/leagues are involved. It was never just Italy, we just did it more often .

I would say that that the BPL has changed a lot over the years. 10 years ago, you'd be able to get away with more from a tackling standpoint. now they just give you a yellow card. That was brought up by the play by play guys doing the Man C v Liv game yesterday. (great game btw, shame LFC couldn't hold on... weird season for them.. first half of season they can't score but defend well, second half, they score but can't defend or Reina loses his mind... but I digress)... the guys were talking about Carragher making a tackle and how it would have been clean when he came into the league but now it's a foul.

ESPN is in contract to show ALL of Mexico's quals here in America, but not their own country.....

We will not see ANY of America's quals, none (unless again you have BEIN).....that is so wrong and such a slap in the face of people that follow the sport....

Juve couldn't have scripted things better at Celtic Park.

Getting that 3rd minute goal so quickly basically let the ensuing 90 minutes play right into Juve's hands.

Celtic could no longer use pressure and pace to dictate the game because Juve had already got what they wanted (the away goal). This allowed Juve to sit back and play counter attack the rest of the game. Basically their mentality was: If Celtic scores one, then that's ok. But we're going to make them break through and earn it.
The more Celtic got desperate to equalize, the more they were sacrificing defense for attack, and Juve pounced on that. After the 2nd goal, the life was sucked out of them and the crowd.

But MAN, is that stadium loud and insane. You would think they scored a goal when winning a corner kick. Kudos to those fans.

I take nothing for granted, and I hope Juve is the same. Come out in 2 weeks and play with intensity and put the tie to bed. It ain't over till it's over.
