That is a totally ridiculous statement. NFL GM is a job. In any job in any field, you're going to have good ones, bad ones, average ones, and all shades in between.

    Well away from here
That just means you're old. Its not cool to brag about your age over 21, let alone 70..................

    :wink2:

When you reach my age, trust me, you don't brag about it. It's still over a dozen from 70 though so don't age me faster than the natural progression. :)

I believe it's a variation of the adage "if you're not moving forward then you're standing still".

Which is not totally true. You could also be moving backwards.

He was right, at that point in time...During TC last season, the hope that some/any of the guys we had were going to develop into playmakers was questionable...this is a different time and requires a different mindset...

Beating the guy up on everything he says isn't going to change our needs or make last year's decisions any different... What will is what he does this offseason.

When JJ was around, he ignored the offensive side of the ball and didn't win anything. Sure, he made great picks on D, but he was terrible on O picks. When he pushed Marino out, that was the last of the offensive playmakers. He never acquired any offensive playmakers. I don't get why JJ is so revered around here, he didn't make much of a difference on offense and then quit on us ??

I guess you could say that the OG acquisition correlates to Cam Wake, who was acquired under Jeffy's tenure. He was a guy that had bounced around the league and suddenly exploded for us...just like Cam Wake... While I too would have liked to have seen us go more playmakers (WR, TE, pass rushing DE) in our selections, the talent he has acquired isn't all chopped liver, as you mentioned, and OLB (Misi) was a much higher need position than TE was in the 2010 draft at when we passed on Gronk. Seriously, a bunch of teams passed on Gronk as well, and we didn't exactly have Tom Brady to offer tossing the ball to him.

I'm not a fan of every move Ireland has made, nor am I satisfied with where we are but the blame doesn't all go to Ireland, despite the ease of doing so...

Let's put the anointing oil away for Tanny and Miller. Other than that, you have one guy who scores TD's, Reggie Bush. Wake is nice. All those players are good. But that gets us 7-9.

He's had 5 years. And you can mention a handful of players. He has not done a good job here. Period. He's been here 5 years, and we're 7-9. That is an inordinate amount of time in this league.

Let's not pretend he's done a good job, or even a mediocre one. Let's all pray he knocks it out of the park this coming year. But he's done a bad job.

JJ put out a team that was fun to watch and put out winning seasons with miami. He didnt win anything and it didnt work out but atleast dolphins football was fun to watch back than. You can go on and on about jeff ireland, it wont ever change my opinion on him. Cam wake is awesome yes but does he put up points on the board?? no, he doesnt.

JJ supposedly also had the best offer on the table for Marshall Faulk, but Polian didn't want to trade him to a division rival so he took the lesser offer from the Rams.

So he gets a 4 year pass because he wasn't in position to grab a QB? Then we have to ignore that he actually was in a position to grab a QB?

Hey, it's your prerogative, you're entitled to your opinion.

Fact of the matter is, when he "wasn't" in a position to grab a franchise QB, he wasn't exactly stockpiling our team with playmakers was he? I mean, 5 years in, we may have our QB, and we're looking to upgrade: TE, WR, maybe even RB if Bush leaves. Really?

We're not stocked at any offensive position and that includes the line. Our defense is better but it's not that great either. We need upgrades at CB, some more pass rush, Safety? Reshad is very good but that's it (not a fan of Weddle by the way).

We have good players but nobody elite at those aforementioned positions. It sucks.

So he's on the clock. He's going to draft this year. And how many years do we give his draft picks? 3 years right? So that's 8 years?

You obviously don't understand the meaning of "nice" by the way ;)

If you're dumbing down the performance of a GM to win loss record then yeah, he's done a bad job and he'll be fired any day now.

He reminds me of the fmr 49ers GM, who took all of those ol's in rd one and the team still sucked.
