Greg Jennings puts his house on the market
    [IMG]
Impending free agent WR Greg Jennings placed his Green Bay home on the market Monday.

For an asking price of $525,000, you can have Jennings' 4,788 square-foot house that is located 10 minutes away from Lambeau Field. It appears the Packers have already told the seven-year veteran that they won't be among the teams pursuing him when free agency opens in March. They're ready to move forward with Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Randall Cobb as their top three wideouts.

Is he going to be headed to Miami to reunite with Joe Philbin?

The stars seem to be aligning on Greg Jennings to Miami, though it's far from a sure thing.

The Packers look like they want to get younger. Wonder if we could snag Tramon Williams from them...

If he does come here (and I don't think he will), I wish him luck in finding a nice 4,788 square foot house for $525,000.

yeah in this market you need to add $ 2 million to that to get a nearly 5,000 sq ft house.

People talk about how its great there is no state income tax in Florida, but the cost of living starts to even out when you have to factor in the cost of housing.

True, although housing costs here are still far below NY (and surrounding burbs), LA, SF, DC and several other major cities. Among NFL cities, I am pretty sure GB has the lowest housing cost by a pretty wide margin.

The Miami housing market is one of the worst in the country. If Jennings comes down here, he'll find a bargain easily enough.

He's gonna get a nice new contract. He'll be able to find something nice down here.

Maybe but Im sure he will have a choice between Sean Smith's house, Jake Long's house and Reggie Bush's house at this rate.... :shifty:

Also, I took the liberty of fixing the thread title and spelling jennings name correctly. Hope you dont mind the spelling police rolling through your thread :)

Greg Jennings is the perfect veteran WR for this offense, IMO. It sure looks like he's coming, and I couldn't be happier... unless we also add Tyler Eifert and Stedman Bailey.

According to sources we are re-signing no one and just signing Greg Jennings.

If the rumors that Smith wants 6/63 and Long wants 10-11M per then I hope your prophecy gets fulfilled. Cause at those prices they can leave.

No one really NEEDS a 4800 foot house, just like no one really NEEDS a Porsche but if you have a boatload of money and you can afford it then you may as well get a bunch of nice stuff.

I thought Smith was asking for 7M/yr, not 10M/yr?

An NFL career can end in the blink of an eye. I admire the players who are smart enough to invest their money properly. Though buying a house in a depressed market would probably be considered a good investment.
How many former players have we heard of though we are flat broke now because they squandered the money they were making while playing in the NFL?

Yeah, me too. The initial rumors were 6-7 mil a year for like 6 yrs. I doubt there is even one team in the league who would give him 10m a season.

I'd prefer a 4 year deal for Smith... I'd be fine with 6-7M/yr but certainly not 10M/yr.

midwestern cities can compete with Green Bay - Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Kansas City.
I went from 3000 sq foot house w/1 acre for 240K in Cincy, to 2200 sq ft house with 1/4 acre for 240 in Atlanta to 2000 sq ft house in Boston area for 600K. houses are getting smaller and the prices are almost tripling. going the wrong way.

I think it's possible. That or they try to trade him, in which case he might be had for relatively low price given his contract.

Just because he played for the Packers doesn't mean he wants to come and play for Philbin. He will go where he can get the best contract, just like Flynn did. I will be extremely surprised if he ends up playing for the Dolphins next year. I don't see the Dolphins being the highest bidder for his services in free agency.

His cap hit is pretty big for the next two seasons. I guess it could depend on how much cap room the Packers have. It really isn't totally out of line for a #1 corner is it?

Like Desides said, it is far from a sure thing. I doubt anyone is banking on it until it actually happens.

At some point the Phins will have to shell out some money and overbid on a player or two. That hasn't been Ireland's MO yet, so we'll see.

He does have a big cap hit, but we have a lot of cap room. And I think he's a better corner than Sean Smith, so I'm more comfortable with him sucking up money than SS sucking up money.

For $525k you can get anywhere from 1,000 SF to 2,000 SF out here in San Diego. Sheesh. Lol.

My sister has a 6,000 SF house. It really isn't that big. Yeah you don't need it. But you also don't need more than one TV in your house either. Or anything faster than dialup. Etc etc.

But it's not that big. You get used to it.

This is baseless speculation. They are not similar situations, at all. One was coming off his rookie contract, trying to get his biggest payday as a result of a set of circumstances that were clearly favorable (and not at all indicative of his future success, mind you) while the other is going for his twilight contract, possibly not willing to learn a complete new system while earning a competitive contract.

Same reason Reggie Wayne stayed in Indy and signed a contract that is no doubt smaller than what he was going to earn on the open market. Greg Jennings seems like he's open to earning a competitive salary, and won't be demanding a contract like Mike Wallace or Dwayne Bowe.

You have to go beyond the narrative that is passed off as accepted truth. His sister said GO GET PAID? That's fine. She can say that all she wants. But in reality, I think Jennings and his agent know the thought process out there.

I'll take that over the word of his sister.

And everyone keeps forgetting Philbin here. Everyone thought it was some foregone conclusion Flynn would want to come here and Philbin would want him. Well it didnt end up being the case. Philbin may rather go after young guns and draft picks and jennings might not be in his plans.
