Not the same thing at all. He's a public figure and an extramarital affair with a celebrity love child is legit news. Hes not being chased for it...
Dan likes ***. He didn't wear a Jimmy. he has the money to pay for his "mistake". End of story. it's entertaining though!
Unless you have a clear open relationship with your wife/significant other it's usually (probably always) an ******* move to cheat. I'm not saying it's horribly morally wrong. It's not. It's just wrong in the sense that it's hurtful to the person you're with. So in that sense I feel bad for his family and the "love child". Hopefully Dan does or has been doing the right thing in regard to the kid.
Kind of disappointing, you'd like to think Dan is better than this but hey its between him and his family. Feel bad for the kids involved and hopefully his wife is ok, this has to be horribly embarrassing to have been made public. Whoever went public after accepting millions to keep "quiet" is a douche bag of the highest order. Maybe some of this stuff had something to do with Dan's having that office job with Miami for like a day?.....eh either way he's still the greatest Qb of all time and my childhood football hero.
As you get older you realize your heroes aren't perfect. Dr. J and Larry Bird had kids outside of their marriage. Michael Jordan cheated on his wife. Many great players have gotten busted for drugs or other things. I think only Dan can live with his decision. I have never been married, but I think after getting the "same old same old" for 20 years or so, sometimes you want something else. It's like you get tired of eating a PB & J for lunch every day....sometimes you want to eat something else.
I prefer to keep my opinion of Dan Marino separate related to his on field accomplishments vs. his off-field indiscretions. Personally I find many of the posts in this thread tasteless and sad. I'm in no position to judge him, but Jesus Christ died to forgive my indiscretions, so I won't judge Dan for his.
You make a lot of sense my friend. It's Dan Marino's private affair and it should have stayed that way. He is still a hero of mine.
I'm going with the below remarks by Jack. Are women God's mistake?
He cheated (probably not once), knocked up some whore and had to pay out the nose for it. He's also known to be a bit of d-bag to people and a heavy drinker. Acting like he's better than human is silly. That goes for anyone really. No one lives up to their hype, otherwise they wouldn't be human because all humans are flawed.
Will this count against his career interceptions? Marino used to love broken coverage. Even the greatest QBs let a few get away from them. Isotoner is a poor choice of the available condom brands. Don't judge too harshly, the love child's mother and Marino had a lot in common. Most important: No ring! Worst possible outcome of a 2-minute drill ever. I knew he had a quick release, but damn! Never known as a mobile QB, Marino just couldn't get out of the pocket when he felt the pressure coming.
There are two parts to this story that I find really sad. 1. He paid millions (allegedally) for her silence. Ouch. 2. The girl he knocked up isn't even hot... She's not Monica Lewinsky or Arnold's cleaning lady, but still... Kid looks cute though.
Not sure if serious.... "I'm not a role model. Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids" Charles Barkley Dan Marino has probably slayed more slores than about half the board combined. Who cares?
Why is that exactly? Roman makes good points. Your heroes aren't perfect and men want sex. Sounds about right.
This story is just bullsugar. I am sorry but this is a non story. It is 7 years later, he took responsibility and is still responsible. But moreover this was a private matter that was resolved and had no issue becoming public.
Who really cares about this story? This is a matter between Marino, his wife and children, and the woman he had the affair with. Anyone else who actually cares about what Marino does in his private life, needs to get a life them self.
Especially if you're rich and famous. The Wonderlic might be more accurate then we thought. I seriously don't understand these guys.
Marino is a Catholic. They believe in the rhythm method. Ya don't want to piss off an expert on sexual relations like the Pope, if you're a Catholic.
Exactly. Variety is the spice of life. Probably happens far more often in all social classes than anyone ever knows about. Open marriage. Having a wife that goes both ways. Brings home one of her GFs for both of ya to share once in a while. That's what keeps a marriage fresh and vibrant. Or just watch porn together.
Or don't get married or if you do, then get a divorce if you're miserable. There's no reason to settle down if your junk has wanderlust.
During celebrity sex scandals, I often wonder how many others **** bricks when these stories come to light. Take Tiger Woods for example. All these other mistresses out there have to be looking at Rachel Uchitel like "Wow, she cashed in with fame and fortune. I wonder if I should expose the fact I'm banging XYZ..." Then you read about Marino shelling out millions to silence his girl on the side. Just a random thought...
It ain't about looks. Hugh grant went from Elizabeth Hurley, to Divine Brown, who, when not in a mugshot doesn't look too bad at all. But this is Hugh Grant, he was in Hollywood. He could have gotten almost anyone he hand picked.
