Very nice call when that kid came out of college, he was a completely raw prospect.

Avril would likely cost too much and honestly, there are a good amount of DEs in this draft that I'm comfortable comparing to a one trick pony like Cliff Avril.

phillip wheeler ,we brought him in last year and dont think we offered him a contract choose gary guyton shortly after who sucked bigtime
wheeler had a very good year for the raiders and is a good all round linebacker and isnt too shabby in pass coverage
we got no depth at all at linebacker and dansby and burnett have only a year or 2 left on there contracts

after his big year with the raiders i am not sure they want to let him go or he may have priced himself out of our range in FA ????

i was hoping he would have been cheapish but maybe not anymore

If we only draft one WR in the first 5 picks, and Swope is available in the 4th, I'd take him. He's more similar to Jordy Nelson than Hartline ever was or ever will be.

Ive heard people argue, as recent as THIS PAST WEEK, that Burnett is barely starter quality and he'd be a backup on over 20 NFL teams.

He then makes the PFF All Pro team and is ranked as the #2 4-3 OLB.

I'd bust a testicle if we were able to grab Victor Cruz but he's a RFA soooo unless we threw them a 1st + signed a big contract... not happenin

Considering the talent available at WR, I'm not sure if a 1st + $8M/yr. isn't worth it.

How's that? I can't remember 3 quality WRs like the ones available this year being all out there in the same year.

A 1st plus probably closer to $10-11 for Cruz is absolutely not worth it, imo.

I was referring to the draft. But if it came down to $10M and a first for Cruz, or $11M for Wallace, I'd take Cruz. I'm not a fan of Wallace or Bowe.

That's nuts imo. Cruz is better than Wallace and possibly Bowe by a pretty slim margin to me. Throwing in a 1st would be absolutely crazy.

Again if we were going to do that then just go get Fitz.

I was about to debate this with you but you addressed it later! We just gotta agree to disagree. I love Victor Cruz, and think he's a fantastic receiver, but if I'm giving Cruz 10 million, I'd rather pony up the extra 2 million a year and grab Wallace + keep our 1st rounder. I think they are VERY similar players. Both electric, both insane deep threats, both able to take a 10 yard slant to the house every single time.

I have both of them being as a clear step above Bowe, but Bowe is far from a bad player. If we could sign Bowe for the same $ as Jennings, I'd take Bowe to be honest.

I'm also drafting 2 WRs in this draft. One in the 2nd or 3rd, then another in the 5/6 depending if I see a guy falling that I feel can contribute. Nobody on this team has earned their 2013 roster spot except Bess. Hartline, maybe. If he comes back at <4.6 mil per year

it wasnt my thinking , i dont really want either to go ,
burnett was our best all round lb last year and although dansby is over payed and lacks game changing plays his our leader wheeler would have been really cheap last year but now i doubt he will
and would have to pay him starter money

we just desperate for depth behind our solid 3 starters !

another guy i look at is
Victor Butler ,lost behind there olb in dallas ,could be useful to have ,will need to change to our 4-3 def tho

on a different note ck ,whats your likes if any and dislikes on lawrence sidbury ,jason hunter, william hayes to help out our pass rush , sidbury done nothing since being drafted tho.
i am trying to find good players who wont want the big pay cheques in FA ,yes we would all love jennings, bowe, keller, cook ,albert, avril, johnson etc ,but there big money ! we need to find little gems lower down imo

Depth-wise, sure. We started two depth players this year. We're looking for top end talent at this point.

If you don't think we can find top talent at WR in this draft, I'd say you have not looked at the players available very much. There are a lot of 2nd-3rd round WRs that are a lot more than depth talent. At least 3 first rounders that are a lot more than depth talent. You're always looking for top end talent, but WR is one position where you can seem to find it at any part of the draft too for that matter.

I really would like to bring in Mike Hunt, so I could buy his jersey for my wife and have his first and last name on the jersey! It would be really funny until she found out why!

    Titus Young...

What's the deal with this kid? Too much of a head case to bring in? I know we talked about him coming out of the draft. A DeSean Jackson type, right? He could come cheap and be a deep threat. Don't know what his character concerns are though. Don't know much abut him period except his incidents with Detroit.

He's pretty well a word-class **** up. He wracks up a bunch of personnel foul penalties, fights with the coaches, and purposely lined up wrong during a game and threatened to retire within two years of being drafted. He'd probably be a good player, but to the extent where his behavior is tolerable? No.

Titus Young is only just now working on his 2nd chance and I think it's likely not until his 4th chance that he actually cleans himself up.

John Abraham is being discussed as a cap casualty in Atlanta. I said it last year and it still holds true this year, that guy would be a tremendous asset as a pass rusher. The contract Abraham signed a year ago was a modest 3 year, $16.7 million deal. If he's released out of that contract, his next deal will only be smaller as he's a year older.

But I don't expect the Miami Dolphins to find the wisdom in signing him. Unfortunately.

I not only like the idea but LOVE the idea of signing Micheal Johnson. It's taken him 4-5 years to finally cut out a niche in the NFL and seems to be on the verge of breaking out as an RDE in a 4-3 alignment. I'm not sure he escapes Cincinnati, but do understand there is a possibility. The Bengals have alot of cap space and have just about as many players, as Miami does, becoming F/A's. Micheal Johnson is still only 26-27 years old with the only potential drawback being, this was a contract year for him. He would bring youth and speed and an understanding of the Defense, due to having worked with Coyle in Cincinnati. It's a natural fit IMHO. Only question surrounding him would be; is this the finished product or is this just another player who turned it up a notch in a contract year. Pacman Jones scares the daylights out of me. Putting him in the spotlight and night life of Miami may not be wise, even if he seems to have turned it around. Temptation is an evil thing and while in Cincinnati, he didn't have the atmosphere that Miami has and that COULD have played a role in his diminished troubles. I like potential pairings of any defensive player coming over from the Bengals to Miami. Time will tell, so let the speculating begin. This is the fun time of year.

I think Ahmad Bradshaw is someone Miami should be interested in, and I believe whom they were interested in last time he was on the market.

Miami can afford to spend the money on him and Ireland is a two-back guy. Bradshaw is a good zone runner, but offers a different skill-set from Lamar Miller in that he's fairly powerful and is quite good in pass protection. His injury/workload standards are less of an issue because he would be sharing time rather than expecting to be the workhorse.

He might have a little more power but otherwise he's pretty similar to Miller.

I have no idea why we'd want to spend the money on someone like Bradshaw. Would be very counterproductive, imo.

He also just had another surgery, iirc, so even though he'd be in a timeshare he's a huge injury concern to me.

You're looking for a well-rounded backfield with someone who is capable of taking a significant workload.

I think it's rather difficult to suggest Miller is similar to Bradshaw in pass protection and power/short yardage situations given that Bradshaw is one of the better players in the league in both of those contexts, and the Dolphins struggled in both last year with Miller on the roster.

What else would you want to compliment Miller?
