It's clear as day WR is a massive need this offseason, same as last year, so we need to bring in multiple guys to improve the production at that position.

So give me 2 REALISTIC options (don't say Calvin and Andre) for who you'd prefer as our starting wideouts. Jennings and Hartline? Bowe and Keenan Allen?

Personally I would love it if Mike Wallace and Cordarrelle Patterson were those guys, I watched about 9 Tennessee games this year because I wanted to watch as much of Patterson and Justin Hunter as I could, and I think Patterson is a potential superstar, something I think this draft might be devoid of. I'd argue he's the best athlete in this entire class, his cuts, speed and acceleration are insane for his height/weight ratio.

I hear a lot of people saying we should take Keenan Allen instead...living on the west coast I got to watch a ton of Cal games, and yes Allen was catching passes from his half brother who was pretty ****ty, but Allen takes awhile to get up to speed, and a lot of times his balance after the catch is pretty bad. I'd be fine with Allen over Patterson if he was bigger with better hands but they are both 6-3 (we'll see what they actually measure though) and Allen doesn't really have great hands, I saw him drop some easy passes, and for a big guy he's a bit soft, he would get redirected a lot.

a group of Wallace, Patterson, Bess and Rishard Mathews is a NICE corps.

So who would you like to see as our starting WRs next year?

Greg Jennings and Cordarelle Patterson, Bess in the slot.

IMO there isn't a better scenario than having one of the most accomplished route runners in the league mentoring the most physically gifted but raw rookie wideout available.

I agree regarding size but not explosiveness. I still think Jennings has it.

Size would come at the TE position, IMO. We need an upgrade there.

Jennings and Hartline starting at WR, with Bess in the slot, and a rookie drafted in the second round getting ample playing time. Keller at TE.

Jennings and Hartline with Bess, Bailey, Matthews and maybe a guy like Wheaton rounding out the corp. That would give RT continuity and some vet savvy but also provide youth. I could see Bess leaving the following season after having Bailey or Matthews develop. I generally find the "blow it up" mentality to be based on emotion rather than an understanding of how teams and, in this case, QBs and WRs develop a rapport and a connection.

Now that Donald Driver has retired is there more of a chance of Jennings staying put? I like Jennings but just don't want to get my hopes too high. Also, there are more teams than I thought there was with more cap space than the Dolphins have, so we may not be sitting as pretty as we thought with competition in signing free agents. I just hope Ireland makes some kind of a splash in free agency.

It depends on free agency, and what defenders are there at 12, But if We don't sign a free agent receiver, we'd have to take Allen at 12 imo because he's the best receiver, if we sign Jennings then I would take Eifert..

Any of five work for me listed in order of preference...
Wallace and Bowe (Bess, Matthews, late round prospect)
Wallace and Jennings (Bailey, Bess, Matthews) - IMO you would need to also invest in an early round prospect like Bailey since Jennings may never return to the player he was in 2010
Wallace and Patterson (Bailey, Bess and Matthews)
Bowe and Jennings (Bailey, Bess and Matthews)
Bowe and Patterson (Bailey, Bess and Matthews)

Maybe a late-rounder if Hartline goes, like Da'Rick Rogers. I think Markus Wheaton would definitely add to that group as well.

    Dream scenario:
Wallace, Jennings, Bess, DeAndre Hopkins/Stedman Bailey, Matthews

    More realistic scenario:
    1. Wallace, Hartline, Bailey/Hopkins, Bess, Harper/Goodwin, Matthews
1A. Jennings, Hartline, Terrence Williams, Bess, Harper/Goodwin, Matthews

  27. IMO 2wrs are not our biggest needs. 2 would be nice but I think we need to upgrade TE more then we need a second WR providing they resign hartlne. If he walks then we need 2 wrs.

I don't see it as an either/or. The Dolphins clearly need at least 2 WRs AND a seam stretching TE. If they come out of this offseason without doing that, this offense will still be handicapped. You simply cannot go into next season with Matthews and Moore as your 4th and 5th WRs. This offense is built to spread the ball out with multiple WR sets. For it to do what it's supposed to, you need to have at least 4 guys you can trust catching the football at the WR position.

Are we more likely to sign 2 receivers ? or draft 2 ? We're pretty certain to get at least get one of each. A lot of us expect Jennings to come down, but just as many expect Hartline to be back with him. I can't imagine us spending upwards of $15m of cap space on Jennings and Hartline. You could theoretically have Bowe AND Wallace for $18-20m !

    Dwayne Bowe
is the best player of the 3 top Free Agents, there is no doubt in my mind about that. Just imagine what he could have been on the Packers or Steelers.
Bowe / Stedman Bailey is my answer. *In my scenario Cordarrelle Patterson is drafted before Bailey but doesn't start over him.

    Bowe
    Bailey
    Patterson

    Bess
    Matthews

The Hartline $ goes to a TE like Cook,Keller. So that's two signings equating to less than $15m of space, along with our first two picks. Still need a backup QB(Devlin?) .... and a LT ! Lets say we give Jake Long $10m .... we're up to just less than 25m. That offense is oozing with talent. Plenty of resources left for Starks,Smith etc. and 3 more top 100 picks for that defense. Believe the hype.
