Down here in Miami this weekend as my dad had eye surgery yesterday at Bascom Palmer. We took him home today, he lives in Delray Beach, and made a pit stop over at the practice facility and Pro Shop. Making the most out of this trip. While we were in the lobby Mike Sherman came through. Exchanged greetings with him and he was headed out the door with a box. It was the kind of box you would be cleaning out an office with. I don't think he is leaving, but it seemed interesting that he was leaving the facility with a box and loading up his car. Anyway, the guard at the desk was telling us about the new logo. He said that they are no longer allowed to wear the "old colors and old logo". He rated that the leaked logo is not the new logo and that the real change will come in the colors. He said they can only wear generic NFL shirts right now until the new logo and gear comes in. He stated that the colors are going to more be like the Marlins colors and that will be more of a change than the logo itself. Both are changing but that the logo will be without the helmet and the colors will be what people talk about most. Just found that to be interesting as he brought it up and we didn't prompt the conversation. He gave us a few goodies to take home for my son and I snapped a few pics while I was in there. Lots of cool memorabilia in such a small place. It was my first time there and we will probably come back down for a day at training camp.
That's cool to hear Cane, for me it has always been about the changing the color scheme..I'm excited... Renovations to our stadium..I'm excited..we need a new color scheme, were getting it.. extra draft picks, free agent money, a possible owner that really cares about making his mark in this city, and most importantly, the 2nd youngest roster in the NFL, that's about to get younger... Good vibes right now..
Love our practice facility..I'm devoted to becoming our training camp reporter like the legendary OZ man..it will be an annual trip for me from this point moving forward..one full week this time.
Yeah, the vibe was good around there. You could just feel that positive things are going on. Was funny in the pro shop when I asked the guy if all this stuff would be liquidated or put on clearance with the new logo and colors. He said that they won't do that and would still sell the majority at regular price unless there is a normal sale or of items were on seasonal clearance. There was hardly any jerseys for sale in there, just a couple Bush jerseys, and all hats were 50% off. Didn't buy any, but that was almost to good of a deal to,pass up. Main reason going in there was to get my son some shirts and such.
Yeah I raided that shop when I was there, got my boy two shirts, the old vintage looking ones..loves those..They really went out of there way to make the training camp experience a good one.. It's so hard for fans though because of the way the stands are positioned relative to the field, that sun just beats on them all day directly, don't know why they don't put the stands on the other side, put a little awning on them to create some shade and it would be perfect for the fans, I don't care cause I'm in a zone when I'm there but it's tough on the folks.
yeah, might be an issue with my son who will have just turned 5. However, like me, he can spend all day in the sun. The Nick Saban Memorial Practice Bubble sticks out like a sore thumb. It is massive, but it is pretty tacky looking as well.
I just don't see it as a place for a kid that age, I mean after 10 mins it's tough on them, saw it with my own eyes, their not happy.lol
I've never actually been in the main building, I didn't know they'd let you in the lobby. Hope your dad is doing ok, a day trip to BPEI does not sound like good times.
Yeah, you can check out the SB trophies. I went in with a crew from channel 6 and got to touch them even. Some people at the reception area are pretty cool....
Thanks. Yeah, it wasn't for a good reason. They found a tumor in his left eye and to remove his eye and the tumor. He is feeling ok right now and is resting. I didn't know they would let us in either. We walked up and the guy buzzed us in. It really was pretty cool and was sort of like a mini Dolphins Hall of Fame. The Super Bowl trophies are on the wall above the guard station and then the rest of the lobby is filled with memorabilia, team photos, championship banners and novelty type stuff. There was game worn jerseys, commemorative coins used in the Super Bowls and even a display of all the patches worn on the uniforms through the years.
Sorry to say to most but If Sherman was packing to leave I would throw a party. Its real easy to look good as a HC when you have a QB named Farve with a running game led by a back named Ahman Green. Any coach would look good. But when they lost Green the Packers went into the dumper and Sherman was fired. After that Houston picked him up and they completely completely blewbubbles. As there OC he rang up an unimpressive 6-10 season followed by an 8-8 season, that was enough and was given a bus ticket out of town. Same at Texas ATM . The mans offense is complete bunk. Every coach/team in the league knows what plays he is going to run before he even calls them. He is known for going for big plays at the wrong time, see why GB and Houston and ATM dumped him. I said it when we hired him, I said it during the season and I say it now, the Miami Dolphins will NOT take a good step forward until Sherman is gone. At that point in time when his cleans his office out for the last time, the Dolphins will proceed forward drastically. Until then ? You will see plays that want to make you throw rocks at the TV. Shermans biggest problem is he really believes the rest of the world is clueless. He honestly believe every play he calls should work regardless of what players he has to run it, he has an ego as wide as the Gulf of Mexico. Can honestly say once we do realize this and dump his carcass, he will not be an offensive co ordinator anymore in the NFL. Perhaps small school college but outside of that ? No, there will be no interest in Mike Sherman. Thats why I laughed when some FEARED he would be hired away as a HC LOL, nobody even gave him a sniff. Mike Sherman got away with his magic act in GB for about 4 years but once he started losing players, players already on the roster when he got there, his offensive genius went down the tubes. Too many wrong plays at the wrong times and too many plays not called that should have been called. The man will never use the TE as a weapon even if you threaten his life. Watch and hope he really was cleaning his office out because he is leaving. I doubt it this quick but there is always hope.
Gotta love a dictionary sized Sherman rant as a reply to this post.... /facepalm.... Either way.. cool stuff man. If that color change stuff is for real then I am stoked.
A bit surprised they are going forward with the logo change, I thought it was just a rumor. Times are a 'changin
I like Sherman and was kinda stoked to see him, let alone anyone affiliated with the team there this time of the year. Just found it odd that it seemed like he was in clearing out the office mode. Hope it doesn't mean he is planning on leaving and is instead just cleaning up after the season.
Well, the poster said Sherman was carrying boxes out to his car. I got excited that they canned him. It was all part of the body of the initial post. In no way was it meant to take away the content on how cool the facility is. I am there every summer for two weeks and they freshened the place up this past summers camp. Only stink in there now is the one coming from Shermans office.
I went and watched an entire day of training camp there. I had a blast despite the sun and would want to do it again. Really like those facilities. I also got Ricky and Ronnie's autograph on the same mini helmet which was damn cool. I remember going to a sub place after that was pretty close. Was the greatest sub place over ever been to. The name slips my mind though.
Well I know where you stand, not qualified to partake in the X's and O's on this one, not my specialty..I can tell ya I don't subscribe to the theory that's been flying around that they purposely designed the offense to limit RT in the pocket so he could evolve in their way, and the fact that we saw no zone read action from our athletic QB.. I'm not sure RT can run that stuff though.
Be in Miami Mid June going on a cruise. I don't know the schedule if they work out or training camp? Would be nice to go to pro shop.
It made me think back tonight to what Mike Dee said. He stated that navy would remain. He never said anything about any of the other colors. Makes sense now based on what this guy told me today.
I don't think it's a big deal. If the guy is correct that it resembles the Marlins colors then it just seems more like a shift back towards a true aqua.
I agree. I just threw three together just to see what it may look like. This should be fun... let's get to work people:
I am not doing these because I like them. I am doing them to try to get variants on the colors from the Marlins, so it's easier to visualize the possible changes. Here's another one: Time to get crazy? Okay, I'm done.
Okay, one last one, this is the first one with our current aqua from the logo. I took the liberty of changing the Marlins as well: Now I, really, am done.
