I don't mind, if one thinks about it even our 7-9's lately have been better than the 04-08 time period and Parcells was a part of it.

Now granted, his approach did prove to ultimately outdated for making the playoffs consistently, compared to 07 we are in a far better place.

You send out a statement that congratulates all the members, you don't single out 2 guys that did nothing but hurt the team. Or better yet...don't send out anything.

No, as a fans, we kick and scream and call him anything we can. As an organization, you show class. Ross didn't say anything wrong imo. He kept it a simple as he could.

And I hate what Parcells did here....

Because, however one may feel, it is the right thing to do. And now, it is over, and done. Time to get back to business, folks..

Who do we want first in the draft -

    BPA for
    LT
    WR
    CB
    DE
    S

in no particular order, of course.

Since this is an organization of adults with big boy pants on, then you release a statement.

Seems like Carter spent most of that yr inactive with a bad hammy?

To me appears they at least have some sort of media strategy this offseason, stadium improvements, new logo, FA etc

Would suspect next we see a large Jeff Ireland interview, probably Ross as well, after the Super Bowl.

I've easily been one of the biggest proponents of the crappy job that Quitcells did here, but his failure here wasn't enough to keep him from the HOF. He's done some teams a lot of good. This team is arguably better than when he came here and he was faced with the prospect of rebuilding the talent level in this roster from the dregs. The Fins did the right thing in congratulating him for his accomplishment. I still hope he never sets foot in Davie again and there is nothing worse than a quitter, imho...however, congrats do go out to him for his entire body of work...

Because it is the professional thing to do. I actually gained some respect for the franchise because of this.

And I LOATHE and HATE Parcells and the fact he only had to wait one year. I wanted him to sweat it out for a couple of more years. But the franchise needs to present itself in the best possible light and this was the right thing to do.

doesn't Ireland always do a big local media interview in Indianapolis every year ? Seems to me he has done that in the past at the combine.

Its the right thing to do as others have said, if I met Carter or Parcells on the street I'd congratulate them its a big deal and both deserve to be in the Hall. Congrats to both.

He hurt the team by bringing in his outdated philosophy, and hired inept cronies to run the front office.

"But we went from bad to mediocre!"

    Whoop de ****ing do.

He was a failure, here and in Dallas.

However, the organization cant say "**** that guy" as Serpio is suggesting.

I think you're dramatically over or under-estimating pretty much in every direction except the right one.

It is a very real possibility that this team could have become pre-Marvin Lewis Bengals or Matt Millen Lions bad. That is a failure.

Congrats to our franchise for showing class to someone who had very poor goals

At least he did a few things right. He turned down Atlanta to come to Miami. He brought in Pennington and took us into the playoffs for once in umpteen years. I may have been more bitter if he had bailed on Miami and went to another team but he didn't. He left before the job was done but still abide by the contract as Wayne stipulated. He is a great football mind, he just kind of stumbled in Miami. Miami did what they should have done under the circumstances and I don't see anything wrong with it.

disagree. he was trying to build a baltimore ravens type team which just won the super bowl. he wasn't able to get the right players to run it though. i blame ireland for that, others blame parcells. i blame parecells for hiring ireland though. still the theory was correct, the execution wasnt

The players were fine. They went 11-5 with solid QB play. The problem was Sparano, Henning and Parcells going full ****** over the WildCat and conservative gameplay. We also could have had better than Henne if it weren't for Parcells and his ridiculous QB checklist.

passing on matt ryan, not being able to build a dominant offensive line and not pairing up wake with another pass rushing threat is what killed us. i blame ireland for that. i blame parcells for hiring ireland

I saw Twitter go nuts on this, and I was mystified at the negative reaction as I am now. The statement by Ross was a classy thing to do for someone who was formerly associated with the team. Slamming it shows irrational venom and bitterness toward the organization.

    Of course you do.

Google the Parcell's QB checklist. You'll see that Henne matches it beautifully. If it wasn't for that stupid checklist, they may have taken Ryan, besides I think its extremely debatable to assume Ryan turns out like he did in Atlanta like he would here.

With Sparano and Henning being responsible for Ryan's development had he been drafted by Parcells - he would have been another mentally and physically walking wounded quarterback by now. Just think - the only QB who even stood half a chance with their system was a 10 year blown-shouldered oft injured vet who knew more about QB play than the two of them combined and had Fupacells thinking that he controlled what the QB did - just like he did the Head Coach and the entire staff - bluff, bluster, and blather..

i dont think short QB that has no deep accuracy is the prototype Parcells had in mind. He was a 2nd rounder for a reason and they thought they could get away with him as a game manager QB if they built the rest of the team. The draft/ FA offensive line miscues every year other than the first were the demise of that offense. the lack of a pass rush opposite wake were the demise of the defense. If they had those two pieces they might have gotten away with Henne or if they got Ryan instead of Long they might have gotten away with missing on the oline or pass rusher. but by failing on all three the overall outcome was a failure. Ireland's job is to get those pieces and he has failed to date.
