Yeah this story is just nuts out here in Los Angeles. He's going on a rampage. He's released a manifesto naming people and family members that are going to get killed. Members of the LAPD and their families. It started on Sunday night with a murder mystery of a young couple who were engaged. The female killed was the daughter of the suspect's lawyer who was named in the manifesto. This morning, the elite LAPD metro squad were protecting a home when a truck matching the description pulled up, the police shot at the truck immediately, only to find two female occupants out delivering the newspaper. Another truck showed up at the scene, they shot at it. Luckily nobody there was killed. The police are on edge to say the least.

    Crazy stuff...

And the worst part is that the manifesto is getting read by the media (not including names of course). Giving the guy what he wants.

yeah I can't imagine what it's like for you man. 911 calls must be off the hook. False alerts all over the freeway system saying they've seen his truck, cops pull it over, shut the freeway down. It's a popular truck!

Latest is that his ID/badge, some form of identification has been found on a bus in San Diego at about 2:15 this morning. Only the media is reporting this story, the police have not confirmed it yet. Now, is he trying to create the impression that he's headed to Mexico when he really isn't. This guy isn't stupid. Nuts... but not stupid.

Sounds like that dude dropped that id badge on the bus to confuse his trail..is heading to Mexico?

    Doubling back to LA?

Heading out to the wilds of the desert?

Feel bad for those newspaper delivery folks..that is just unacceptable, firing blindly is not exactly a trait of an "elite" unit..more like trigger happy cowboys looking to shoot.

Probably not P13, sounds like the guy knows how easily that stuff is tracked, even if he used a public net access his area would be known very quickly and that would narrow their search to a given area.

I would think he probably is enjoying the reaction on the freeway atm, the more they over react the greater his effect.

Whack job took the time to type out a manifesto AND did not go after his fmr lawyer directly, he went after his family, sick puppy this one.

He is definitely smart and crazy. This reminds me of when I lived in D.C. All the cops were looking for a white van because reports were a guy was ramdomly shooting at people at gas stations. People were scared to get gas. They later found the guy and a kid with him. They were shooting out the back of their car at people.

Yeah this guy is attempting to be the embodiment of terrorism. Scare tactics and mind games. Wouldnt be surprised if he lays low to just keep officers on edge. Or he could try to go out in a firefight. Who knows

Eww, that was not all, the police were saying it was a white male, when they knew it was a black male.

This one seems much more straight forward than the DC "sniper' stuff.

apparently he has advice for Tim Tebow in his manifesto. Calls the Jets essentially a circus and that Tebow needs to get away from the reality star Rex Ryan and away from Mark The Rapist Sanchez. I guess he's not as crazy as we thought.

Article didn't go into details on the truck the cops indiscriminately shot up. Kinda sounds like they fired warning shots in its direction after failed compliance. That said, they gotta look out for a cop killer.

How are you going to shoot into tinted windows from the back w/o knowing who is in there?

And it mentions nothing about "warning shots"

    not to mention:

    -wrong color truck
    -wrong model of truck

Then they shot at some other poor soul who happened to be driving a similar truck but fortunately there were no injuries

    Uhm, yeah.

Key word being "look". They clearly failed to do so.Lazy policing under pressure.I inferred that the article implied that the cops merely shot at the truck.

We won't know for a while what the exact circumstances were on this OIS, so one can't really pass judgment either way. It will be investigated as all other OIS's are.

but to be fair: the color of the truck was not nailed down by that point, it was the early morning (dark) hours, and i thought i heard the truck was blacked out (which makes sense as usually the newspaper delivery people do roll around with lights off for some reason). And one officer had been murdered just hours before.

Either way it's tragic, I hope the wounded are okay, and I REALLY hope they catch this guy soon, because this is exactly what he wants. Fear mongering and nervous officers.

Of course, by a Grand Jury or a "police review board"?

Hmm, and the reason why his DL/Tag number/Make and Model of truck would be unknown would be?

And of course the other innocent person going about their daily lives were shot at was because?

I look at the photo penn, police car behind truck/bullet holes in both back windows and think the per norm LAPD investigation is not sufficient.

Oh, BTW, Dorner, 280 pd black guy pickup truck occupants..two women..which tells me "shoot first, see what happens"

No damn way an officer could confuse the two.

Whether an officer was killed earlier or not

again, I am not trying to justify or vilify the shooting, I am in no position to pass judgment off of the few facts that were released to the media.

as per your other points the ones I can refute are that (1) I only mentioned color not being known. And (2) the truck has dark tinted windows. No way anyone can see if there is one large man or 15 miniature poodles in there, especially at that time of the morning.

And thats pretty much all I can or have to say on it at this point. It happened, and I hope it's investigated comprehensively, along with the other shooting, and anything else that may happen with this situation until he is caught. It's just all around a very scary and dangerous situation, and I hope it ends soon.

Since the LAPD is so heavily involved, the usual OIS procedure+ a Grand Jury is called for.

1)Silver and power blue are not distinguishable?
    2) doesn't explain the second vehicle being fire upon

Your second point is one that exposes who unjustified that was, if you cannot know who is in the cab, to shoot into the cab is at the last AWDW+intent to maim or kill.

I suspect it will, this guy sounds the type to off himself soon enough.

But still, there should be head cutting at the LAPD.

I can confirm that the newspaper delivery truck did have its lights off as that is how she delivers papers in the morning not to wake people up in the dark. Real bad timing by them. No excuse. I can't believe the two ladies weren't killed seeing how many shots the truck took... has to be well over 50.

The latest is that they have found the suspect's truck, burned out in Big Bear (a ski resort town). Suspect not found yet, but I guess the poor people who are driving in those types of trucks can now rest easy.

I think I can understand the Left's near pathological dislike and mistrust of Fox News Channel

Watched some coverage on all of this tonite, not a word about the two shooting incidents during the "manhunt"

Lots about how evil Dorner is, not a word about the newspaper deliverers being shot.

Sorry Lm, but I find that a bit misguided.

Here is why, both political parties know we are an empire, that is how we conduct foreign policy, "we' and I do mean "we" live on the spoils of those policies.

The vast vast majority of Americans refuse to accept that reality, until that is understood, and the reduction in lifestyle that comes along with it is accepted, that is when the *cough "collateral damage" *cough* will stop.

    Don't hold ya breath.

When Fox and other "media" refuse to really dig into what is happening it merely highlights the media/govt complex

It is what most people use to become "informed".

I read most of his manifesto, heavy duty military terms etc

But to hear the media, he is a raving lunatic, Fox had Furman on and they never addressed the substance of his accusations that he believes muddied his name, of course, stuff like one of the guys who was involved in the Rodney King beating is actually now a LAPD precinct captain.

Also rather a man of the left who feels the system betrayed him, but then supports the system itself

I take it back, this guy is a complete whack job.... read his whole manifesto. For someone who brags about being such a great shot, he has sure missed the mark in his shootings. He's also been very sloppy. I predict he'll be caught shortly or kill himself or not make it out of the mountains without freezing to death (snow storm up there tonight).

I don't think so P13, suspect he is on "plan B" after botching the boat exit, think he has campsites etc up the mtns

The storm will negate the FLIR stuff as well, tactically, if he is prepared, the snow helps more than it hurts him.

If he is even up there.
