    ROUND 1 (Pick #12): Cordarrelle Patterson-Wide Receiver-Tennessee

I am quite confident that the Dolphins will land one of the big three free agent receivers (Jennings, Wallace, Bowe) but there is still much work to be done. Patterson offers tremendous size and ability to create after the catch. I was close to giving the Dolphins Keenan Allen whom I believe is just a tad bit better than Patterson but it is hard not to fall in love with Patterson's body of work and potential. At the end of the day I believe that the ceiling for Patterson is higher than that of Keenan Allen.

    ROUND 2 (Pick #42): Alex Okafor-Defensive End-Texas

The Dolphins need a consistent pass rusher opposite of Cameron Wake and while I think Olivier Vernon is going to be a very good football player it is simply too hard to pass up on Okafor here. Okafor is a four down player that can get to the quarterbacks and plays the run fairly well to boot.

    Round 2 (Pick #54): DJ Swearinger-Safety-South Carolina

The Dolphins need more play-makers on the defensive side of the ball and Swearinger gives you that. The Dolphins would have an absolutely stacked safety tandem for the next five years should they decide to go this route. Swearinger has the ability to cover slot receivers and tight ends which is something the Dolphins currently lack and playing in a division with the likes of Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez, and Rob Gronkowski you surely need an upgrade here.

    Round 3 (Pick #77): Travis Kelce-Tight End-Cincinnati

    Anthony Fasano is a goner and even if the Dolphins do somehow acquire Jermichael Finley they need more depth/talent at the position. Michael Egnew is far from a sure thing and Charles Clay will be coming off a fairly serious injury. Kelce has all the tools to be a successful NFL tight end as he is a willing and able blocker as well as a natural pass catcher. Kelce concentrates on the ball well and catches the ball with his hands;

    Round 3 (Pick #82): Tharold Simon-Cornerback-LSU

Simon is a tall, rangy corner in the mold of current free agent Sean Smith. Scouts are going to love Simon's long arms and fluidity in his hips. The Dolphins who need a shut-down corner might be able to replace Sean Smith who is seeking $8 million per season for a small fraction of the cost.

    Round 4 (Pick #108): Jordan Mills-Offensive Tackle-Louisiana Tech

The Dolphins will need a right tackle should they let Jake Long walk in free agency and permanently move Jonathan Martin to the left side. Mills is a natural right tackle that has started 30 games at the position for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Mills has tremendous size and plays with a nastiness that coaches covet.

    Round 5 (Pick #139): Jon Bostic-Linebacker-Florida

Make no mistake about it Karlos Dansby is currently one of the Dolphins best defensive players but he is aging and carries a huge cap number with him. The Dolphins clearly need depth at the linebacker position as well. Bostic is quick, instinctive, and reacts well which would indicate that he is ready to play at the next level. I am not certain Bostic is an every down linebacker in the NFL but a certain that he can contribute due to his overall skill-set and polish.

    Round 7 (Pick #201): Brian Winters-Offensive Tackle-Kent State

Winters is better suited at guard in the NFL; Winters plays with a nasty streak and is an above average run blocker. The Dolphins need quality depth among the offensive line and Winters' versatility is a major benefit.

    Round 7 (Pick #208): Spencer Ware-Running Back-LSU

The Dolphins need a power back that can find the end-zone in goal line situations which makes this a perfect pick. Ware reminds me of former Cowboys' power-back Marion Barber III.

VERY nice write ups. These are a better read than most of the other mock drafts I hear, and I think they are fairly realistic picks as well. Good news is, I'm really hoping we got that extra 4th rounder from comp picks, so you might be missing another pick :)

I think this is very nice and I would love to come away with this collection of players.

    Some minor nits...

    1. I think D.J. Swearinger at #54 overall MIGHT be just a little bit too high. I think he's arguably worth it. I like him. A lot. But as of right now I'm not sure that's where the market is on him and I think you should aim to pay a little above market price for guys you like.

    2. I think Tharold Simon is an interesting, perhaps even brilliant pickup at the bottom of the 3rd round. He's clearly very raw and I think the fact that his strength coach put him on the list of players he called out for lack of work ethic has to figure into all this. But he's big, strong, can run, is quick, and he has a lot of potential if he ever gets his technique right. How much are you counting on him right away? Because this could be a long, bumpy ride with him.

    3. You start to lose me for a small stretch right around Jordan Mills and Jon Bostic. Not that I hate either player. Mills just isn't a guy I've liked much and I haven't grown to love Bostic either.

    4. I think Brian Winters in the 7th round is where you dropped the ball a little bit. It happens to the best of us. But I think that's a gross misestimation of where he's going to end up. I think he very well could end up in the 3rd round. Hard for me to see him going lower than the 4th or 5th at the latest.

    5. I have no opinion on Spencer Ware. Obviously I'm going to like Patterson, Okafor and Kelce as I've gone on and on about them for a while.

Appreciate the feedback. You seem well in tuned with the draft. I am glad I registered on this site as it seems to have a good clan of draft folks.

Agreed! I recently joined after leaving another site. The draft knowledge on this site is way superior. Boomer, KB21 and CK really know their stuff. The other site is poluted with misinformation and really off the wall opinions. I'm glad I finally found this site.

By the way OP. Nice work on your mock. We would be fortunate to come away with that haul come April

Travis Kelce is shooting up boards, and after the combine would it surprise anyone if he went as high as a late 2? It shouldn't.

Love the Ware pick. One of my favorite backs in this class, probably my favorite power backs.

I like that pitch dive LSU does, it goes the runner more time to pick his hole

Please not Simon. He's just a clone of Sean Smith, even wore the #24.
