Percy Harvin Possibly for a 3rd? Guys I would seriously look at this as It makes sense if this is what it would take from Spielman.. An NFL executive tells NFL.com's Ian Rapoport he would be "shocked" if the Vikings netted better than a third-round pick for Percy Harvin. Then the Vikings should keep him. The executive apparently believes the pricey extension Harvin will command — including perhaps in excess of $30 million guaranteed — will depress his value. Harvin's character and health concerns are also working against the Vikings. It wouldn't be shocking if a team enamored with Harvin's talent took the plunge and ponied up a second-rounder, but a day-one pick is looking like a pipe dream for GM Rick Spielman. Not sure this garnered its own thread, when we have a pretty popular thread about Percy going right now, and there's some GREAT pros and cons being discussed. Keep it all together, ya know? Either way, good info! I'm not a fan of the trade, if it were to happen. I'm a HUGE Harvin fan but there are just massive, massive red flags. I'd be stunned if some team gave up a 3rd knowing the cost ($) and team morale
I think his 2013 salary is 2.9 million or so. It is said he is looking for a long term contract but he is not getting it until he proves to the NFL/teams he is worth the money. I would give a 3rd for him. Florida is a hell of a lot nicer then Minn.
I was hearing from John Clayton that he was planning to hold out and wants to be one of the highest paid wide receivers. One of the main reasons why the Vikings can only get a 3rd for him.
Percy Harvin Possibly for a 3rd? Harvin has 4 seasons accrued, which means he can holdout until week 10 and still become an UFA after 2013. He will holdout.
Like I said, his salary for 2013 is 2.9 million. The kid is threatening to hold out because he probably WANTS to be traded. Do not blame him. We give a third, he holds out and does not playe, we get the third round pick back if he never steps on the field. We lose nothing. Minn does not want him and since he heard the rumor of him being traded he said he would hold out. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what is going on. Bad marriage, bad breakup. I would give a third for him and most teams will be willing to give a third for him. You cannot go for the sure thing all the time, you have to take a chance once in a while. Besides, like I said, he holds out on us and does not play, we get the draft pick back once he becomes a FA and do you think any NFL team would even sniff him after he pulled a move like that ? He would be playing for league minimum at best after he pulled that stunt.
Kid has wanted out of Minn. since before the 2012 season started. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...-harvin-hit-incentives-on-2013-vikings-salary
I like Harvin. I even said Id take him on my team in the other thread. No bloody way Im giving him 30M or even 20M guaranteed. Thats preposterous. Hes good...really good. But hes not Megatron or Larry Fitzgerald.
Reports are that Harvin wants Megatron and Fitz money. That's between 50-60 million guaranteed. That's insanity. Between his immaturity and delusional salary expectations I wouldn't even entertain the idea. Not even for a late round draft pick
