Interests me, with Freeney and Wake rushing the passer the talent needed at CB drops significantly.

More interested in Paul Kruger then Freeney. Freeney had just 5 sacks last year. Yeah he was learning a new position but hes lost more then a step...

Nickel pass rusher for 3-4 Mill is decent value IMO.

If nothing else it increases our chances of acquiring a DE for better value.

Him or Abraham would be PERFECT. One of them and Wake on the outside with Vernon rotating in. Then we can slide Odrick inside. |

    Ahhh this sounds amazing.

Yep and at a good price. I do not remember so many teams up against the cap the way a lot of teams are and its not even March 12th yet. Remember, these are released players, not players who reached FA because their contracts were up. Huge difference. 2012 FA is going to be a buyers Market and its nice to have a lot of cap room and go shopping. Lots of big name good players are going to be out there in the next 14 days. Like I said, they are all cuts.

Unless its a 1 year deal for a couple mil I'll pass. Not a knock on Freeney but I'd rather sign a guy with more upside or let one of the youngins get in there. I'm guessing Freeney would rather go to a team in contention or a team that overpays aging FA's. No and no for us.

That would be OK. I would hope for cheaper, though. And then you have to see if he would even accept that.

He's a one piece away player type..I would pass and continue on drafting and finding young acorns..Wake can mentor any youth.

    No thanks.

This is the best DE draft class in five years.. maybe more. I cannot see why you'd pay top dollar when you can get a guy in the draft.

Couldn't use him on base downs. If he wants to get paid like a nickel rusher, then I suppose he could be a consideration.

I think the Dolphins should put some consideration into the feasibility of Dwight Freeney and probably James Harrison as Nickel rushers. I think that let's them get a year holding pattern with Vernon and Shelby to see how likely they are to develop while providing immediate improvement

Freeney is a total class act. A place where I interned in college ran his youth football camp; he was outstanding there. Certainly wish him well wherever he goes.

I'd give him a look in free agency. Though, I shutter to think of the mass confusion he'd cause if he's ever on the field with Jonathan Freeny. Stockton and Griese wouldn't be able to handle it in the preseason booth.

I wonder how his stats breakdown on grass vs playing indoors on the faster surface. I'd be fine with Wake, Freeney and Vernon as our DE rotation. I'd still like to draft someone to groom and replace Freeney in a couple of years. that's assuming Freeney would come cheaper than Abraham.

And next year will be even better with Clowney and Barr leading the way.

Freeney is getting older but he was playing an unfamiliar position in the 3-4 defense. It would be interesting to see him opposite of Wake, as Vernon learns the position. Irregardless a compliment to Wake should be a priority. Wake is great but he could be even better with a real threat on the opposite side of the defensive line.

We need more then a stopgap. We need a guy ready to go when Wake falls off. Wake lives off his athleticism...when that goes..it'll be a fast decline.

Could be us? Lot's of money and draft picks don't hurt either.
Remember,we should have been in contention if only Carpenter made those kicks...

Good year for DEs. Good year for OL. No more stopgaps. Start building this team through the draft like we know Philbin wants it to be.

Not sure why any Vet that could go to a place like Green Bay, Atlanta or maybe NE would be signing a cheap deal with us. Maybe we could throw a ton of cash at him but its not worth it at that point.

it is also true what the other poster said "being the best draft in years at de "

decisions decisions all over the place for ireland too make!!

least we are in positions to be "players" in both fa and draft!!

we'd have to throw a lot more cash. John Clayton was speculating that NE would be a good fit for Freeney. that would suck if NE ended up with both Freeney and Ed Reed.

This being a good draft at DE I'd prefer we spend our FA $$ on WR/TE/CB and get someone who Cam can tutor along with Vernon. let's think long term here please. I want to build a dynasty, not just possibly win only 1 SB.

I'm finding it hard not to think the first couple of picks aren't used on offense say 1. Patterson 2a.Ertz or Eifert if there not there going CB Rhodes, Turfant, Banks pick 2b. they may decide to go DE if they got there corner there. Dwight would be a nice pickup if he's willing to take half that 9 million salary for 2 years

I'd rather see if I could scoop Brandon Jenkins in the fourth round. Big upside. Potential to play like Freeney.
