He is not alone as often as you think, he often has a safety over the top in the past.

Doesn't work. When the Colts were trading Faulk, they took less from the Rams than Jimmy offered, but they didn't want to trade him inside their own division.

Also, even if the Jets would take a couple of pot sweetening 1st rounders for Revis, doing that trade really plays hell with our cap. Those 1st rounders are supposed to give you a good player on a rookie contract that is cap friendly. Instead our missing 1st rounders are replaced by one great player coming off an ACL injury who wants to be paid a Top 5 overall contract and holds out every other year anyway even when he's paid.

Has about as much of a chance of happening as I have of owning the dolphins or as much of a chance as Channing Crowder being inducted into the hall of fame.

Actually last year Richard Sherman was far an away the best CB in coverage according to PFF. Sherman was so far and away the best CB last year that he would have destroyed Revis' last healthy season in 2011 according to FF's analysis. Revis is at this point at least 2nd best right now.

It would make sense to put language in his contract making it difficult to holdout, since he basically wants to renegotiate every year.

He is a baby but its tough to say not to when many GM's and front office personnel pull the same shenanigans every year.

But it's not tough to not want to add a yearly contract holdout to your team.

The Pats traded Bledsoe to the Bills about 10 years ago.

There are not good enough WRs in the AFC East to make a shutdown cb with an enormous contract worthwhile.

A lot of good it did the Bills too. It is still very uncommon, and there is no way the Jets are trading Revis inside the division. I'll bet my bottom dollar on that.

Which begs the question, how the hell did every team in the league pass on Sherman at least 4 times in the 2011 draft? Interesting little side note, but he was pick #154, the same overall pick that Zach Thomas was in 1996.

Same way everyone passed on Brady at least 5x. Also scheme wise I think Sherman really fits what Seattle likes to do which is have big physical CB's up at the LOS pressing the oppositions wr's and who have good ball skills.

When you saw Ireland on Hard Knocks adamently say he won't trade with the Jets you don't have to be Sherlock to know getting Revis is out of the question.

He was really unsung for a major college two year starter too. Not even an All Pac 10 Honorable Mention. I cannot recall anyone even discussing him as a late round possibility before that draft. Kudos to the Seahawks scouts for their apparently positive scouting report.

I'd go with the proven bull (revis) & keep smith. that would resolve the defensive backfield issue definitively

Well, that WOULD depend upon what she was picked for....

But if the Jests let Revis get out of town, even for some draft picks - then all that relief I have been seeing that Tannenbaum is gone would return like an earthquake's tremor. But, it does appear that they have a fair house-cleaning underway. The trouble is they stopped with Tannenbaum - for them that is. Odds are that with Rex leading them, they won't surge much in the standings. (Tony was a great OC!?!?!?!? - was THAT what he said????)

We'd call him but his agent informed us he's refusing to answer the phone until he feels he is being fairly compensated for answering the phone.

If Rex said that about Tony, he was just being diplomatic. No sense airing your dirty laundry in public. Rex, love him or not, is a brilliant defensive coach. He just needs an OC who he can depend on to run a good offense. He has one now with Marty Mornhigweg. I don't expect the Jets to be a pushover with that combination. If anyone can salvage a middling NFL QB out of Sanchez, I think Marty can.

It would be unfair to have a Revis thread in the main without mentioning DT.
Faked the "Island" out of his cleats.

Too much of a price tag for the position he plays.

Now, if he was a DE....

not coming off a major knee injury he doesn't. again, if you're a playoff team looking to roll the dice, take a big chance on an injured player coming back to form so you can have a window of a couple of years to win a championship before ruining your future cap space, then you can justify it. no way in hell should a team like Miami take a chance on a guy like Revis.

If you have a chance to get the best player at his position, a sure first ballot hall of famer, in his prime, because of some ineptitude by a different franchise, there are exceptions to the rule, Revis is as game changing as players get, and the fact that none else understands what he brings to a defense besides coverage is shocking to me.

    I don't agree.
Revis did shut down the side of a field for the Jets, and that's a fact. They haven't had a pass rush in years and Revis was the staple for their D since he was drafted.
Even us Dolphin fans know this is common knowledge,Bro.

Not really, I'm not saying the dude is not a top flight player, but he had safety help often in the past, and this past year they took that away (With Bell at Safety) and he was not as effective (Still dam good). And we have no idea what he will be now.

Sean Smith and a 2nd is what I'd offer the Jests for Revis. Unfortunately several teams will offer more for him.

    No bro, we don't bro.

I'm not crapping on Revis' ability, bro. Bro, I'm saying he's a corner, bro. They do not take half the field away, they take one receiver away. That's fact bro.

Revis is the best corner in the league. The best corner in the league does not make us contenders....bro.

A strong pass rush, bro, does make us contenders.

Huh???? What are you talking about????? A pass rush is infinitely more important to a defense than shutting down ONE player.

What am I talking about..let me be clear, spacing concepts, imo, from a single players perspective relative to impact on a defense, he's the best in the league, imo, he's a top 3 corner of all time, and he's in his prime, he's a level above elite..and he completely changes how you play defense, all ten other players benefit by his ability..

I would offer up the 12 th pick right now and a 4th next year, take it or leave it..
